I apologize for my absence, I have been extremely busy. My dad recently began a remodel and needed my help. I've spent the past few days doing demo work in near 100 degree weather. It's alright, though, It's the kind of hard work I should be putting out into the world at my age. Keeps me in shape. Anyway, Now is the first time I've even had my computer on since Saturday. I have, however, been following everything here from my phone. Tomorrow is the first half-way free day I will have and I'd like to spend some time getting this going again on my end now that I have a fresh system.

I return... With a squeaky clean OS! Downloading drivers n such right now.

I am beyond flattered. As I'm sure Kitty is as well. What started as just another post about load order has evolved into a story of sorts. I would have never dreamed that this thread would be followed like story or series. With characters and a plot. But it has. Many real life lessons are being learned here that have changed my perspective on things as well. It's an understatement to say Kitty went "out of her way" for all of us through my experience here. Through careful communication and patience (and a fair bit of caffeine), we are able to persevere. Overtake each challenge as they come. All just because it's there. That's probably the most beautiful thing about this is that there are no guns pointed to anyone's heads. No pressure. No real reason to be doing this in the first place other than personal enjoyment. We are deliberately putting ourselves through a certain hell to achieve an indescribable greatness in something we love: personalizing video games. In the end, there will be this golden shiny and glowing final product that is beyond any achievement or unlockable you could "earn" in any game. There are no YouTube walkthroughs for this. It's about learning-by-doing and staying focused. (and listening to sensei). We aren't done yet, though, hang in there. Gonna do some computer maintenance because this project deserves it, really. Then I'll be ready for the next phase. Thank YOU, Arleaux, your post is very motivating. Fuel for the fire. You have helped remind us (me) that there is more to this project than just personal agenda.

Just an update: I'm not dead, nor is this thread. :) Bad news... This piece of art I'm working on has turned out to be the single most ambitious piece I have ever created. Normally, If I'm drawing something I'm familiar with, it takes but a few hours to finalize a piece, this one will take me weeks. Two weeks to be exact, and I'm only half-way-through. And I am filling an order of FOUR images all equally as extravagant as one another. They will take SOME time. Good News! - Those images have no time limit. So I don't actually have to grind away at them all day long. I'll probably just designate a certain amount of time each day for the art so I don't burn myself out on it. Which means, when I'm not working away arting hard, I can play games. Since the beginning of this project, on page 1. I have been playing 4 games. 1 is RuneScape, doesn't really count. It's AFK. But I trade between playing that along side the new DOOM, Metal Gear Solid 5, and Fallout 3. However, so much time has gone by in doing this Fallout project, that I've completely 100% DOOM, and I'm now 50% through Metal Gear. So now I've put DOOM down entirely and am only really playing 2 games. Metal Gear and Fallout. However, it seems the universe wishes to intervene. On top of all the work that has been thrown my way spontaneously, my Windows 10 installation has started to drive me up a wall. It deselects things at random and clicks when I don't want it to. It's crazy. I could meticulously pick through everything and try to fix it, but, the message is clear: clean the PC. So while I am working on all this art, I can wait for my computer to format and download everything over the next few days. Everything is backed up externally or online so I won't lose anything. Just gotta reinstall. So when I return to this thread it will be with a fresh new OS. Which MEANS. Kitty wins! :P I'll have an absolutely clean installation of windows 10 awaiting it's Fallout installation EXACTLY the way you think it should be done. All the files already shared to me that I need, basic training complete. I will be as set as I could possibly be. I'll have an eye out here still. let me know if anything comes to mind.

Apologies for the delays. Some work came up. I've been hired to sketch a series of pieces for a coffee shop in a neighboring state. I could really use the money so I'm going to shift priorities. I'll probably be drawing most of the day today to get the first one done, but I'll have this open so we can discuss things. We are getting very close, though, I can feel it. Almost modding time.

That didn't solve the problem, though. :\ If I run Fallout through MO, and try to load my save game right outside the vault, it crashes.

oh THAT image. I see.. I wasn't looking in the right place. So I have to remove it... uninstall instructions just say to delete "src" folder and any file with FOSE_ in it's name. I went to the data folder, found all the files and the folder then moved (not deleted. a habit i now have from you) them to a different location. http://3.1m.yt/iinBuDh.jpg Fomm still shows the FOSE button... http://1.1m.yt/NkIwSbw.jpg But launching it doesn't work, obviously. http://3.1m.yt/eyAVMP-.jpg Do I have to uninstall/reinstall FOMM for it to forget about FOSE? Or will that button always be there? Or have I done that all wrong altogether and there's some other way?

What is this sorcery? How can you tell? :o

That source folder is a life saver, then. Mods best friend. There are exceptions, obviously, (like how I see you don't have MGE, and Gopher's mods in sources). But instead of having a million-trillion mods all piled on top of one-another causing problems and trying to load all at the same time. It's just one file. Sources. Which means customization of the game is extremely personalized. Instead of downloading Flora Overhaul and only having your trees where Vurt decided they should go, I can move just 1 tree if I wish. or 7. Not all of them. This also (more importantly) means that the game engine is never overloaded with plugins. Mostly everything is toggled on/off in that sources plugin. I'll have to just take your word for it for now because running the game with sources enabled makes it crash when I try to load any of my save files. Starting a new game works fine, though. I'll have to make another run through the vault through MO with sources in order to get a screenshot outside the vault to compare. The save files I have right now only load if the game was launched raw. This is a magnificent idea. I'll get it printed, stapled and filed away into my huge binder of important gaming things. -------------------------- I am thoroughly impressed with MO. It has an abundance of useful features that are all accurate and even real-time. It's useful not just for telling what's wrong, but just what's happening. It's a resource monitor, a diagnostics tool and an archive all wrapped up into one.

Please guide me here, I'm trying to piece this all together so it makes sense... MO gets the sounds from the various 'sounds.bsa' files in it's archive manager. Then gets the meshes, textures and everything else from the "sources" plugin that was made by compiling all the main .bsa files together? So, the 'sources' plugin is sort of a "sandbox" if you will. When I want to go in a alter the game in any way, I target those files in "sources". So the original main.bsa files are never altered. Is that right? http://1.1m.yt/y0OPZs3.jpg http://2.1m.yt/iyj-m5Z.jpg http://2.1m.yt/qENkFMU.jpg Not sure what I'm looking for here. I am unsure. If what I explained above is accurate at all, then yes. I have a grasp of this process. Though I am far from understanding enough of it to be able to work on my own. That being said, we haven't really done much yet because of all the failed launches so far. If my windows installation was flawless and squeaky clean, and I had a brand new fresh everything; Steam, Fallout, ect. Then this would be going much smoother. We'd probably be well into modding by now but we had to work backwards before we could go forward at all. I'm sure once I get my hands dirty with making actual visual adjustments in-game, I'm sure it will all start to fall into place. Sort of how when you watch a movie a second time, the intro makes WAY more sense. The first time you see it, you are like, "WTF is going on?" because you haven't been introduced to anything, yet. I'm sure I'll start to realize the importance of all this once the actual work starts being done. Obviously, you don't just open TheFallout3ModdingProgram.exe and go file > open > Fallout3.exe, then just click and drag stuff around like photoshop, save and play. (Well, that's essentially what's going on here, but with a few extra steps). In the future, if I were to start from scratch, I would know that in order to touch any of those files, there is a particular process they have to go through in order to be altered safely.

Uhm, you say "THE bsa archive" as in singular...but, to which .bsa are you referring? Technically there at 17 .bsa files in the Archives tab. Do I select just the mains? all of them? http://1.1m.yt/wZHdSbW.jpg

http://1.1m.yt/yh4W-Rb.jpg In the new MO installation, FOMM was already there. Didn't have to link in anything. These were the only files in my local\Fallout3 folder. I don't see any .cfg files in here, does that viewsettings file count? http://3.1m.yt/033DUlx.jpg Just a list of my hopes and dreams... http://4.1m.yt/tDwHczW.jpg It's very messed up. There are ESMs loading after ESPs, things are way out of order. That's not how we left it... When I launch FOMM through MO, there are no plugins to sort. http://3.1m.yt/aFb1HRe.jpg Good news! The game now launches and plays through MO without crashing. Loaded up the save outside the vault, works fine. Yay!
