  1. Hi - I don't use Gmax (I use Lightwave) but I can guarantee that the problem originates from incorrect weight maps. I've done a lot of work with weight maps and hand-weighted a brand new item recently, so it's pretty likely I can help you. Message me with the details of what's going on, and I'll see what I can do. I'll need screencaps, because it's a different program, but weighting seems fairly consistent across programs.

Did you import a .msh or .mmh file?

  2. Hi Boodrl. You may actually be in luck, depending on what you mean. I've been practicing hand-weighting clothing and have had relative success. It's not possible to add true physics, as in, clothing that moves and drapes naturally on its own. However, I was able to weight a coat/robe over pants and have it move naturally with the body without clipping.

I also have future physics experiments planned. I've been making a ton of new outfits for a huge project in the works, and I intend to see if a cloak can be properly weighted to move with a character's animations, because I love suffering, I guess. I'd be glad to pass on the results.

For reference - I use Lightwave. Tragically I can't really help much with 3dsmax, although I know starrarte here has used it.

  3. Hey, I'd be glad to help. Depending on which textures, I might need to have a look at the files before I could take care of it specifically, but this could almost certainly be done with some chargenmorph.xml editing, from what I remember of the CC. I'm a toolset user (which I strongly recommend, if you're interested in serious character customization) but I also know that custom face textures can absolutely be added into the CC with relative ease; I used them back in the day.

Did your download of the face textures come with a chargenmorph.xml document? If so, run the compiler http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/971/ while the chargenmorph.xml is in the override folder.

If it didn't come with a chargenmorph file, it'll have to be hand-edited. I can walk you through that if necessary.

  4. Hi - I assume you refer to the clipping issues in the base model. I'm certain this could be fixed. I'm extremely familiar with 3d modeling for DAO. Would you be interested in a fix? If so, are there any other armors that clip, that you've noticed? It'd be easier to do it in a batch, if there are.

  5. hey everybody, I've been using Lightwave and TMP's DA import/export tool to de-blueify a massive amount of hairstyles that I have permissions for, for toolset compatibility. this has gone really great for most of them. unfortunately i'm still running into a problem where the scalp doesn't texture correctly and is too light to match the morph's skin tone.

    like this behind the ears:

    does anybody:

    a) have lightwave experience related to hair conversion,

    b) know what might be causing the problem,

or c) have experience in a different program related to this kind of thing?

i'll take any scraps of ideas tbh. this is really, really important because i'm currently working on a massive realistic DAO redesign project and, uh, i need more hairs :|

    thank you guys in advance!!

  6. okay, thank you! it's good to know I didn't accidentally ruin everything - here's hoping it will return to normal shortly.

I think I got the patches too. I'm just netting everything I possibly can off social.bioware.com. super dumb httrack-related question: when I go to work in the morning and my laptop briefly loses connectivity, will it automatically resume when I have internet again, or will it cause trouble? (i am so bad at this tech stuff. i am so sorry.)

  7. okay, what has NOT been backed up yet? i.e. where can my effort (and my massive hard drive) best be put to use? I have as much storage space as we would possibly need, but I just need some slight clue on what to do; I'm an artist type, not a computer expert, and technology hates me a little bit, so the more advice and suggestions, the better.

in addition to httrack, I'm thinking of going through by hand and saving each mod file page for everything in the BSN DAO mod section, since that's what's most important to me (both for nostalgia reasons, and because some of those files are crucial to a current project.) what format do you guys think it would be best to save the pages as? or should I skip it, leave the pages to httrack, and grab the files only?

  8. hi - I have an 8tb drive (that I got specifically for this, upon hearing the news) and am planning to use httrack to save as much of the BSN and forums as I can. I just messaged @Tarshana for her settings but didn't see this last post, so thank you @CreeperLava, I'm going to make use of those settings as soon as possible.

@Tarshana I'm totally willing to volunteer my help for the individual mod saving and/or to contact the mod authors. I care really strongly about preserving the old mods. is there anything I can do from here, other than backups?
