  1. Check out Nehrim (www.Nehrim.de). It's a complete overhaul of Oblivion with many of the best mods already incorporated and it's basically one file to install. Been playing it for a few months now, and pretty much the only game I've ever played that made me jump outta my chair because I was startled by some creature in one of many creepy dungeon. The only thing is the excellent voice acting is done in German...as long as you don't mind subtitles. This is not to say Oblivion modded is not worth the effort, it certainly is. Nehrim is just another excellent Oblivion experience. New world, new map, new quests, the cities and dungeons are fantastic. Worth a look. Good luck. Galt
  2. Yes, the site is still down. In any event, if you can DL it from the link provided by NordicMist, just make sure you follow the install instruction very carefully. Not a hard mod to install, it only has three .ESP files to activate, but I had to install into C:\Nehrim folder due to issues with Win7 not allowing access to the Oblivion folder (something to that effect). Once I did that and manually moved the Oblivion.ini file into the Nehrim folder it finally worked properly. Again, follow the install/starting Nehrim readme before you install. Took me a few to get it to start without crashing, but once I moved the ini file, was all good. Once you get it installed and working just tweak your settings and you are good to go. Good luck and enjoy! Galt
  3. Yup, just started the main quest, but the environment and quest line just sucks you in from the start. Truly amazing stuff. The AI is tweaked real nice, the music is new and excellent, voice acting top notch and very professional (in German but a few minutes into the game play you forget you're reading subtitles), the topography and outdoor environment it fantastic as well (all new as well). The environment is very alive with tons of muted subtle details including lots of woods creatures, birds, critters, bugs, broken carts, etc, to really suck you into the world of Nehrim. The detail the developers put into this mod is just stunning. Even each NPC you encounter has a different look, seems like no two have the same face or clothing, other than some guards and troops on patrol. The leveling has been fixed as well, which is a huge plus! I can't imagine how long it must have taken these folks to rework Oblivion to this extent. Anyhow, I could go on and on about it, and I just started it. If you haven't already, this is one mod you guys just have to try. Really adds the 3-dimension immersion and depth that Oblivion lacks big time. Just had to let you RPGers in on a truly amazing RPG. A amazing feat done solely for the love of the game by many many talented folks. Good day, Galt
  4. Sorry guys, had posted the wrong link. I did post the correct link. Check it out, I think everyone will be amazed. http://www.nehrim.de/indexEV.html Good Day! Galt
  5. Hello All, I just downloaded a huge mod (kinda) called Nehrim. Pretty damn amazing so far. Seems it's pretty much a new RPG game play, map and a whole new set of quests that are supposed to be very good and immersive. I guess it's using the Oblivion engine, but everything has been overhauled and many mods in Oblivion are incorporated already. Anyhow, just stumbled across it and wondered what you guys/gals thought of it. Seems to be really well done from what I've seen so far and read in the forums over at the Nehrim site. Check it out: http://www.nehrim.de/indexEV.html Good day! Galt
  6. I too had not played Oblivion since 2008 as well but it's the first thing I installed when I purchased my new computer. I read through the mod posts thoroughly, there is plenty of excellent info on the various mods and any conflicts or issues you can expect. I too was shooting for better visuals and better more immersive RPG game play. I can tell you you'll need Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM) and Wrye Bash first. Makes installing and uninstalling mods a breeze. Then Unofficial_Official_Mod patch_V1.06, OOO (latest version), OBGE (latest version), Qarl_TP3 texture pack (hi res textures, I believe it renders textures at 1024 instead of 680). In my opinion, another must have mod is Deadly Reflex that greatly enhances the combat, adding many more moves and difficulty. A few of the other mods I think are mandatory are Immersive Interiors along with another mod called Natural Lights (I think that's the name) that allows for translucent windows so you can see outside when you're in the buildings. Window Lighting System is nice too, it's a mod that allows for the city building lights to turn on at night or in rainy weather. There is a real nice open cities mod I'd like to try, where there is no load to enter a city, but I'm afraid it will just cripple the FPS, sounds very cool though. Vija Companion mod is really useful as well. She can carry a lot of stuff for you and can help take some heat in battle. That, in my opinion, is a good base to start adding other mods like armor, companion, quest, body mods, etc, that you may like. I have over 30 mods running, but the main essentials for a more immersive experience and better game play start with the mods listed above. Just take your time installing the mods. A good method is to install one mod at a time and check each mod works without any problems before installing the next. Some mods take a bit of tweaking to get to work properly (HGEC body mod and EVE Equipment Replacer gave me the most troubles). The biggest problem I had was armor not showing up on many NPCs after installing HGEC Bodies/EVE Armor. Many NPCs were butt naked. Had to uninstall mods one at a time until the issue was resolved and figuring out the conflict. Can't remember the exact conflict, I think it was something to do with my install order. Wrye Bash makes load order and uninstalling mods so much easier to do. It's always a work in progress though. It will never will be complete as long as new mods come out. Have fun and good luck! Galt
  7. Excellent. Thanks for the help. Was about to accept the fact that I'm going to be a vampire forever. Thanks again, Galt
  8. Hello All, OK, so I've stabbed an Argonian with the special dagger provided. After stabbing the Argonian, the dagger has simply disappeared from my inventory and no where to be found. I've gone back to Melisande's house after garnering all the ingredients for the cure, but when I try to give her the dagger she says I have not used it yet. Has anybody had this issue and is there a fix other than finding the save game from the initial encounter with Melisande (which was a while back in my quest)? Thanks in advance. Galt
