Braith wants me to adopt her? what!?
Rattlesnark replied to ArabWarFighter's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Bump with some insight on the problem. My issue was due to a mod, Victoria Velina Revamped.esp, having a seemingly out-of-place Cell edit that overrides Hearthfires.esm's. Specifically, this one: Cell > Block 3 > Sub-Block 6 > 000165AB (WhiterunAmrensHouse) > Persistent > 0001A66B (BraithREF)This entry overrides two XLKR - Linked References, LinkCustom01 records from Hearthfires that led to Braith's adoption status breaking. Unfortunately, this only fixes it in a New Game and not my existing playthrough with an already broken Braith. Will see if I can do something about it, though - need her in normal behaviour for just a moment to kick off another mod's quest. Anyone else having this issue but not the Victoria Velina mod, I advise to use TES5Edit and CTRL+F searching for 'Braith' (or any other child you've having trouble with for that matter) entries. Feel free to PM me if assistance is required. EDIT: The command 'addfac 3004290 -1', as mentioned a couple of posts above, helped to at least temporarily fix Braith - enough to trigger my sought after dialogue. Seems to persist through cell change too, fortunately (for now). -
Anyone needing version 1.16 (Wyrmstooth 1_16_2-25704-1-16), drop me a PM. Will check for messages and respond tomorrow when I get off, then periodically for future messages (hopefully I'll remember to)

Solved. See EDIT 2 below. I just had this issue after my PC crashed while I was playing. I noticed that we share the common cause of the game ended abruptly (power outage, PC crash, CTD...). Here are my findings upon the matter thus far: Initial crashes upon attempting to run Skyrim using SKSE had Windows errors pertaining gameoverlayrenderer.dll. I figured this had something to do with Steam Overlay, so I disabled the overlay completely and tried again. This time, the Windows crash log pointed to 'Fault Module Name: gibbed_interface_extensions.dll_unloaded', which is a very odd cause of a crash. This actually happens to be a file in the /Data/SKSE/Plugins folder, though I'm not sure of what it came installed with. I moved the aforementioned DLL into a backup folder, and tried running once more. Again, it crashed, but this time pointing to 'StorageUtil.dll_unloaded'. This is also a SKSE plugin, so I moved it into a backup as well (basically, deleting the file). This time however, the game runs fine up to the main menu. Other SKSE plugins (from various mods. E.g. showRaceMenu_preCacheKiller.dll) seem to be running alright, considering the files are still in the Plugins directory. It seems the culprit on my end are the two .dll SKSE plugin files mentioned above. I'll try to figure out what's going on, where the files are from and what-not. EDIT 1: Missed reetpetit666's post. This is pretty much my problem, StorageUtil.dll being one of them. Odd that you just had this issue without a crash happening, though. Still looking into the matter. Might take some time, after I get my beauty sleep. EDIT 2: Well, figured it out. Despite the other .dll files coming up as errors, the sole culprit was StorageUtil (gibbed_interface_extensions.dll I have since restored). There is a 0kb StorageUtil.save file in my SKSE/Plugins directory. I figure something must have messed it up somewhere. Removing this file gets SKSE running file again, though I've not tested the extent of this file not being present. As for the source of StorageUtil, I'll mention for the betterment of science and public knowledge, is the SexLab Framework.

Bump. Plagued by this same particular issue since forever. Started playing Skyrim again recently, so it re-occurred to me what a big ****ing pain in the ass this problem is. Tried "cleaning" my saves' RefIDs using that tool didn't work any magic. No solutions after so long, I'm beginning to think a clean restart (yet again) is the only way around this issue. EDIT: If anyone finds/had found the solution to this, please do let me know. I'm very, very desperate.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have since decided to continue with other quests and return to Windhelm at a future time. If the problem persists even then, I will resort to trial-and-error in order to spot the culprit, if it does come to that. EDIT: Ugh... CTDs happening randomly in another location as well, with the same usual errors coming up. This is starting to become a sore in the rump. Could be another problem altogether, though.

Bump. "[02/28/2013 - 11:50:52PM] Error: (000C6900): cannot find variable named fToggleBlend." This same error is ****ing up my game as well. Crashing non-stop every time upon entering Windhelm. I've seen from another thread/post on this forum that other 'fToggleBlend' errors (which are also present in my papyrus logs) are also caused by whatever's inside Avanchnzel. Apparently, someone was able to solve the problem on his end through "freeing a dwemer spider which was stuck within another object while its death animation was running", more or less. I did a run through Avanchnzel, 'disable'-ing all the dwemer spiders, spheres and centurions which I could find along the way (including a handful which had legs clipping. Might have missed a few. The only ones still left around at this point were pre-dead "props", actual spawns/corpses have all disappeared.). There was one living spider in an inaccessible area, which I've taken to using 'tcl' to reach it, kill it and 'disable' it. After all that, I coc-ed to WindhelmTempleofTalos, stepped outside and it CTD'd immediately during loading. Several attempts to travel to Windhelm through regular means and the front gate still led to a CTD shortly after I entered. I don't expect this issue to be resolved any time too soon, which saddens me even more greatly. :( Here are a few significant lines from my papyrus log.

If you've even tried starting a new game with absolutely no mods enabled and yet crash at the exact same place, then it appears to be a pretty serious issue. A wild guess; Perhaps it's caused by modded loose files (extracted into the game directory, no .esp). Have you tried re-verifying your game cache through Steam. Since you've tried it with no mods enable, these probably won't help much - but anyway, perhaps you could try using an automatic load order organizer such as BOSS if you haven't already. I'm not too familiar with the features of WyreBash (if that's what you are using). Worse comes to worse, you might be also try doing a clean reinstall into a fresh directory. Also, ... you have Skyrim Flora Overhaul.esp Active above it. Is this meant to be? Sorry, this is best I can offer in terms of help. :(

I'm sorry I can't offer much in terms of help. Here's a thread that might/might not do better. All the best, I'm having CTD issues of my own as well. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/703954-are-you-having-constant-exterior-ctds-ive-finally-found-your-solution/

DarkBrotherhood.psc is assassinating my game
Rattlesnark replied to nrot's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
The error is popping up in my papyrus logs as well. Not sure if it's the cause of my CTDs or whether it has been around long before as I've only just activated papyrus logging after the issue arose. Tried disabling Better Dark Brotherhood (The Dark Brotherhood Resurrection) as well as deleting both the .esp and .bsa in my data folder as you've done, but my last CTD log still contains the same error in several lines towards the bottom. Any other ideas? Seems odd that it's completely clear from yours but still exist in mine although I've probably taken the same steps as you have. Is there anything else you might have done aside from those? Pretty bummed about my game being unplayable at this stage. :( Looking through the mod's comments, there doesn't seem to be many complaints about this particular error or crashes caused by the mod. This leads me think that it might be something else causing the error, whether the error itself is capable of causing crashes, or whether or not it's just simply a mod conflict or "dirtied" game littered with old/broken scripts. P.S. Pardon me if my phrases happen to sound instigative :P -
Sorry I am totally useless in terms of assistance, I'm in need of help myself. My game has been CTDing A LOT lately. Papyrus logs are plagued with hundreds of lines of errors, "object is of incorrect type" or some-sort. Near the end of the log, there are also lines of (0001EA5C) Dark Brotherhood errors - as stated in the OP. TS, is this error in any way harmful to the game? I did a little research on my own, but couldn't find anything decisive. Hoping you could share your findings on this, if any. Thanks in advance, and sorry once more for adding to the burden.

For those of you having problems with either... A) Getting the boss battle with the Arch-Curate to progress properly. B) Getting the subsequent quest 'Kindred Judgement' to begin after picking up Auriel's Bow. ... here's how I solved these problems on my end, worth a shot to see if it helps you out. A - The boss battle might fail to progress properly, if the frozen minions don't unfreeze or if the Arch-Curate doesn't bring down debris from the ceiling as expected. Try reloading a save location prior to the battle, or the autosave itself from the 'Inner Sanctum -> Auriel's Chapel (boss arena)' area transition and re-attempt the battle. The point at which the game ceases to progress randomizes for me each time I restart the battle, and I ended up being able to finish the whole thing. Reference: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/750776-dawnguard-arch-curate-vyrthur-boss-fight-problems/ B - I had this issue with the subsequent quest 'Kindred Judgement' not starting right after I picked up Auriel's Bow, and neither Serana nor Gelebor had proper dialogue options. The issue at hand is the final 'Retrieve Auriel's Bow' objective not properly being marked as completed despite the message signifying the quest's completion popping up (COMPLETED: Touching The Sky). A solution which worked for me is simply by using the 'setstage DLC1VQ07 200' console command to mark the objective's completion properly, and the quests progressed as they should after that. Reference: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Touching_the_Sky Just thought I put this up to help anyone else in need. Please don't send me death threats if any of the above end up worsening the situation for you.

I'm in the same boat. 200+ hours in the game and nearly finished with Dawnguard; My save file is past 30mb in size (and ever bloating). What the hell - to make matters worse, I'm the kind who saves his game every 30-60 minutes.

Dawnguard: Arch-curate Vyrthur boss fight problems
Rattlesnark replied to drshomeboy's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
How are you guys holding up? This bug is damn terror, nothing less than game-breaking. Un-freaking-acceptable. I had a huge problem with getting in Auriel's Chapel initially, the glacial tunnel waypoint to it kept teleporting me back to the entrance of the inner sanctum (with the huge statue of Auriel). I did finally manage to get into Auriel's Chapel however, but the fight was even more of an abomination. On my first try, I could only get to the frozen chaurus wave before the Arch Curate sits idle and doesn't unfreeze the falmer - what the ****!? Upon reloading a quick-save right outside the entrance or the map transition (Inner Sanctum -> Auriel's Chapel) autosave, the fight randomizes. One time, I got past the first frozen falmer wave ("an impressive display" dialogue line), and the other time I got so far as for the Arch Curate to drop ceiling debris on my head at 60 second intervals (longer than it should take). After a couple more tries, he actually does things right this time, and here I am past the buggiest boss battle of the decade. Best of luck, hope it turns out well for you guys soon. P.S. I have over 110 mod .esps activated and many, many more loose files in my game directory. Mod issue causing this, perhaps? EDIT: Another problem now. Finished all prerequisites, but the next quest following 'Touching The Sky' isn't starting. I was expecting bugs like in every Bethesda product, but GOD DAMN - how am I even supposed to finish DG at this rate? EDIT 2: Solved by using 'setstage dlc1vq07 200' quest to complete Touching The Sky. -
BUMP. I had the same issue, and was cracking my skull trying to figure out what the fresh was ruining my game. I did a forum search and stumbled upon this very helpful topic -> http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/631079-another-skse-issue/page__p__4967402__hl__skse+black+screen__fromsearch__1#entry4967402 This fixed it for me. I was running MSI Afterburner and it was causing trouble with ENB injection, most probably from the RCRN mod I'd installed.
