I gotta bump this thread. I'm currently speaking with a friend via Skype who has gotten a new rig with an Inte i7 4790k CPU, a MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G and 8 Gigs of Ram. Skyrim seems to be running fine for him until he gets near Whiterun and out in the Tundra. His FPS will go from a solid 60 fps to 3 fps. (This is with an ENB installed btw) If we remove the ENB his frames will go up again. But even without an ENB and without mods he would experience frame drops from 60 to 20-30-ish. Again around Whiterun and in the Tundra. A funny thing though: With the ENB enabled and mods installed... If he saves his game near Whiterun and the Tundra, restarts Skyrim and loads the game up from that particular save file, everything will run at a solid 60 fps again. Now I don't know if it has anything to do with the OP's post. I've been looking everywhere for a fix or solution but have found nothing so far. I just presume that the fault lies with the GTX 980 somewhere. Best of wishes to one and all. EDIT: Problem ''solved''. Seems the install order was not correct after all. His game is now running fluidly again.
