  1. Hi all,

after a literal few years, I must ask for this.

Any of you who have played modded minecraft will know this thing. A Builders wand. If you have, say, five blocks of stone next to each other, clicking with this wand on the broad side of these blocks will place five more. If you click the ten blocks you now have on top, it will place ten more on top of them.

I am more interested in 7d2d for the building aspect. I build huge bases. Massive. But what is driving me crazy is the slow building process. Shhoof plop. Shhooff plop. Repeat thousands of times.

A builders wand that would let me place rows of blocks in one action would save me oodles of time and frustration.

If possible, can someone please make this mod? Pretty please? Even if it places just a few blocks, it would be so much time saved...

  2. As I said elsewhere, it should be possible now. At least, I saw the evidence for it in other mods. For example, Eli's Red Rocket, which is, if I'm correct, a cell, has a connection with a supply line externally. Therefore it should now be possible to hook up home plate to f.i. Hangman's Alley.

  3. I literally have no idea where to start.

Well conceptually, I'd try to take a sort of workbench mod, try to open it in fo4edit or one of these tools and see if the code makes any sense to me.

There's a few mods that introduce some souped up new workbench (armorsmith, craft able weapons, 2legendarymodifications spring to mind) so maybe opening them in the right tool may give clues to how this magic happens.

  4. Yeah somehow I don't see Bethesda as a group that actually solves problems, more like a group that introduces various new ones. Don't get me wrong, loving them etc., but if Skyrim was allowed as evidence you may see I'm going in the right direction with my assumption. :)

I was thinking to ask the guy that did armorsmith extended to have a look at this. He clearly has workbenches figured out, he may at least be able to say if it's currently possible or not. I pm'd ddproductions83 with the link to this thread but he gave no reaction.

  5. IKR... I should do it myself perhaps, sadly I know FA about modding.

I'd probably make it look a bit like the skyrim smelter, with a chest or hopper type thing on top, or perhaps something from the Saugus ironworks set...

Then when you interact with it, it's like any other workbench; e to enter, r to transfer. R would just take you to the settlement workbench inventory, e would give you the hopper inventory and your own. You transfer items, be it junk, canned food, meds, collectibles or whatever, and either through settler interaction or just simple time passing it would turn into resources. Or when you hit 'r' or 'X' in the 'e'-menu, it would probably be easiest.

  6. That is correct but only for junk that is in the same workbench as the settlement you are trying to build in.

So if you have mounds of junk in sanctuary but you need one stinking piece of steel in red rocket you still have to hoof up and get it.

Someone just please make a scrapping machine! :'(

With the scrap making workbench you can make every piece of scrap you may need so really the onus is on having resources everywhere and that means we need a thing that just breaks down whatever you throw in.

  7. I'd like to be able to send provisioners to Diamond City. For one, to hook up Home Plate to the resource ring, so it can be a real worthy residence.

Also I'd like to perhaps have a steady trade line, like the way you're making caps from vendor stands - having a provisioner 'do' Diamond City should bank you some caps in your Home Plate workbench, as an alternative for not having any merchant stand options.

  8. Well it doesn't have to create anything, just raw resources would be boner time. I'm getting to tired of having to throw everything on the floor and scrapping it pressing a button for each item I highlight. I know people say 'but Xtra, your workbench will scrap it when needed' - but that's just useless when I'm not in the settlement that actually has the scrap stored. Only raw resources go through the provisioner pipeline, afaik.

So yeah after wearing out two keyboards due to pushing the 'r' button I'm about to kill myself. I reckon there must be a few hundred thousand guys like me.
