  1. Nothing is there. All I see is a huge list of video games in the Library., that says "Not Installed." Restart Steam and you will see Creation Kit under Tools in the Steam.
  2. :-) Only 100 hours ?? I paid approx. 60 euro for Skyrim and I suppose that I will have fun for at least one year (five years with mods). This is the reason, why I am not using fast travel and why I am trying to play "naturally". It means, when I am travelling somewhere and it is the evening in game, I am trying to find nearest village/city/inn, drink and eat a bit, sleep in the bed etc. I am really looking forward to some mod which will allow camping, cooking on the campfire and sleeping on bedroll, together with mandatory sleep, eat, drink. After finishing any quest, I return to my home, take a week off (just sleeping, cooking, doing some Alchemy, Enchanting, Smithing, selling loot, drinking in pub during evening etc.) and after a week of rest, I am prepared for another quest. It works ok in real life. I do not have all day for playing, only two-three hours during evening. One day, I make a quest, second day I have a "week off" in game, third day another quest...
  3. Ehm, but you do not need to buy from blacksmith, right ? So, where is the problem ? Feel free to go to the wilderness and hunt animals for skins and go to the mines to mine the ore. This possibility is already in the vanilla game and it is not necessary to fix anything.
  4. From the programmer point of view, the short answer is simple. No, it is not possible to make a 64bit application compatible with 32bit operating system. The long answer is something like - "Yes, it is possible, but you must modify large part of the operating system itself, write the whole set of development tools etc." Actually, it was done in the past. When PCs had the 16bit operating systems called MS-DOS, there was a possibility to run 32bit applications on this system if the system had a 386/486 processor. But you must have the thing called "Phar Lap DOS Extender" (basically, the 32bit operating system working on top of MS-DOS) and also a special compiler, which was able to cooperate with this DOS Extender. In 90s, there was a lot of applications, which used this. Mainly CAD systems and similar. But today, nobody will modify 32bit version of Windows just to be able to run a 64bit game.
  5. Hmm, the first game I wrote was the "Lunar Landing" for HP-41C calculator in 1982 (?). Shortly after that, I got the ZX-81 computer with 16KB RAM and I wrote the "StarTrek" game for it. The game idea was copied from game written for TRS-80 or similar computer. NIce big universe (8x8x8 cube), letter "E" on screen was the Enterprise spaceship, there was Klingons and Enterprise was able to fire phasers and photon torpedoes. :)
  6. Sad thing is, that I remember times (since early 90s to approx. 2005) , when the computer games was the main reason behind the hardware development and the whole PC industry. 3D accelerators, GPUs on graphic cards, faster processors, more memory, better development tools like 3DS Max and other graphics/animation software etc. The consoles totally killed the whole process. :(
  7. Yes, I agree. But you know, those stupid consoles and their hardware limitations... From the technical point of view, the consoles are pure evil, because it is not possible to write a modern 64bit, multiprocessor application which is using 6,8,12 GB of RAM and 1-2 GB of GPU memory for them. Without consoles, the whole area of Skyrim can be MUCH larger, with open cities, much more NPC etc.
  8. Problem with Levitation is that it can easily ruin the game. Remember Morrowind with Levitation and overpowered potions ? Also, from the designer point of view, it is almost impossible to mix levitation with the closed cities. Maybe in TES VI, if it will be written in a modern way, for PC. I mean fully 64bit, open cities, destructible world etc.
  9. Hmm, it seems that I am kind of "junior", being only 46 in real life :) For me, the default difficulty is ideal. I do not need over powered bandits, monsters and bosses. But I am looking forward for some mods which add the "natural difficulty" to the game. Things like mandatory eating (and hunting for meat), drinking, sleeping etc. I am also looking forward for some kind of decent "camping" mod. You know, when I am travelling somewhere (I am not using fast travel) and evening comes, it will be nice to start campfire, cook some meals for me and my companion, build the tent with bedroll, maybe alternate nightwatch with my companion each two hours etc.
  10. Practise Conjuration and you will see. As soon as you will be at level 90 in conjuration :)
  11. Thankyou, it's now working. Will I be able to use crafting mods again? Most probably. But as you can see, maybe it will be better to wait for the CK release. Somehow it seems that those mods made without CK are neverending source of problems.
  12. I have a tone of mods. Some include FXAA injector and Blood effects, enhanced water, rain ripples, distant terrain and more....mainly graphics mods. My specs: MSI 6950 oc 2 gb Phenom X6 windows 7 64 bit 500 w power supply 4 gb ram Try to disable ALL mods, especially any mods doing something with crafting.
  13. Steam is not asking and simply download the patch even if it is explicitly set to "Do not update...".
  14. My daughter (12 and half y.o.) is neither fat nor outcast and she like the computer games. She has not so much time for playing, because she is riding horses and has a lot of work in stables 6x per week, she needs to do homeworks etc. But she several times played Morrowind in the past, several times she finished Oblivion with various mods and currently she is playing an older RPG called Neverwinter Nights. She will get the Skyrim as a Christmas Gift. I do not see any reason, why the girls should not like Oblivion and/or Skyrim.
  15. Actually, now when there is the cooking in TES, I am thinking about mod which will allow to prepare similar dinner on the table, eat the dinner, clean the table and prepare it for the next meal.
