  1. Above all for me would be Knights of the Old Republic. As a console gamer, I will not say pleb, I played it on Xbox and was so impressed I now play it at least once a year as a ritual of sorts. The galaxy map in KotOR was the basis for what became Mass Effect. Which would be my next game, it was just beautiful. Sure the endings weren't great, but often the journey to the end is the best part in games as the end can be so hard to get right.

You could truly fall into kotor. Certain dialogue, I'm thinking of Jolee or HK-47, could just bring it all together in an instant.

Whoever mentioned "whack a mole" combat must've wasted his time on a soldier. Though I built one to get the achievements that had in game application for new characters. I liken that sort of critique to people who say Witcher 2 and 3 have a "clunky" combat system...funny cause that just means they are bad at it or don't diversify their methods of approach.

Hate to advertise but if anyone liked KotOR there is currently and UE4 remake being made that will be available for free. If ever it gets finished. They need texture modellers and artists.

It's called Apeiron, and the Twitter feed gives me a lot of hope.

  2. There is currently an Unreal Engine remake of the original, beloved, Knights of the Old Republic in the works. I'm just trying to spread the word and the Nexus seemed like the best place. They are looking for animators and artists. Check out Poem Studios if your interested in following their progress.

The game is currently in pre-alpha development stages and they are not accepting donations at this time because they would like to get further along in development. A lot of remakes and projects of this sort tend to falter. I certainly hope that will not be the case in this instance.

The game will be released as a mod, at no cost, though you will have to own a copy of the original game.

Please, help me spread the word if you are a fan of this old gem.

  3. You and me both Dragovian. I've been oggling mods ever since KotOR on the original Xbox, and since then between Oblivion, Skyrim, FO3, and FNV I could hardly bear scrolling through all the game enriching content on the Nexus. Luckily I didn't miss out on the glory that was Diablo 2 with its low requirements but other than that I've been on consoles.

I've always been a person of modest means, a nice gaming rig was not an affordable exspense for a hobby, so I got rather invested in accessible and affordable consoles. When Todd Howard announced mod plans for Xbox I was beyond enthused.

Looking back I realize I was naive to think this would herald the change I hoped for.

  4. -sigh- that's not an excuse though. It's pretty ridiculous how the console crowd doesn't grasp that they are hurting their first "large game" mod experience. We are losing out on a lot of great content because 10 or 15 percent, I have no clue how to gauge this, are being needy little entitled children.
  5. I certainly do. I've been railing against people like that all day, and had to close two of my topics on the Gfaqs forums. A lot of console people there and although most were amicable enough it only took one to kill the thread.

I havnt requested or pmed any MAs. I feel like that is really rude. "Demanding" anything from MAs who are typically creating these mods without even owning the console is outrageous. I saw three hijacked mods today, it's out of hand.

The polite console players you won't usually hear from though.

  6. Well, I am a console user as I can't afford a nice PC, also once you have a bunch of friends on the console and saves it makes it hard to switch.

I read all your updates and I'm sorry so many people were ignorant or rude. The player base is huge on console compared to PC so regrettably there are more bad eggs, but of course more good ones too. I ask that you don't take the comments so seriously, most of the people who understand and appreciate your efforts are unfortunately the silent majority.
