Hello, After looking at all the follower mods I have, I came to the conclusion they are all using different structures thus for the reasons I sometimes see a folder named after a follower in the data directory so on and so forth. Ie: Data > Meshes > Body | Eyes | Hair | Facegen> Facetint | Mouth etc. What is the best folder structure that should be used including facegendata so that goes to the correct directory? As I have also noticed that it is difficult to find the files generated by CK for facegen at times. Either that or it isn't generating files at all. Thanks in advance.

Hello, I had this issue with making a follower before, ended up fixing it w/o help but same issue once again and don't remember how I fixed it. Issue is that the texture ie: eyelids/lashes are messed up while the rest of the face looks correct in nifscope. I do have high poly head installed though the preset used never indicated whether that was a requirement. Even in racemenu there is the same issue. Is it an issue with the eye nif? Thanks in advance for any help.

I will have to look. Is it preferred to pack stuff into bsa? I made a follower out of a preset for practice but I didn't pack textures etc into bsa. I also just noticed part of my original post sounded like gibberish. "For example the beds appear that may" was supposed to be " beds from the mod appear that way". Just looked and sure enough there's a bsa file. That solves it, I should have realized and looked from prior practicing on Skyrim to SE conversions. Thanks for the reply and reminder about bsa's! Did'nt realize there is a setting for CK to use bsa's for rendering? -

As per title, I have been renovating a player home but I am seeing alot of diamonds with exclamation points. For example the beds appear that may while vanilla beds actually show a model in the render screen. The mod's beds show up fine in game. What am I missing here? Definately makes adjusting things more difficult not seeing the models. Thanks in advance for any input. -

Could try duplicating one of the children and edit that copy but as far as I saw there is no head highlighted in the child race which is different compared to a adult race or custom race. IE: adult usually has Hair? Head Body Hands Feet while a khajiit has Hair? Head Body Hands Feet Tail. Sometimes I see Shield highlighted. Kinda got me curious. Forgot to see if they had a formlist for head parts. I'll have to peek at a child replacer mod to see what they did. More or less how I learn how to do some things, load a mod and poke around.- 4 replies

I looked for your mod but didnt find it. Thought I'd pick at it to see how the hovering and orbiting worked. -
From what I have learned you should save copies of the the facegen files since when you save your edits in CK it will fubar any face changes you made. As for skin tone, can't you just make a patch or replacer for that by editing the race so it affects every npc of that race? Or even edit the skins themselves? I changed a followers pubic hair to match their hair color more once by doing that outside of CK.

Yea I just figured out that with some followers there are animations in their mesh folders. Besides not looking in the right folder, never thought they'd be in meshes. I have looked at 2 different mods with flying followers that move exactly the same and come to the conclusion they are not flying but actually hovering. Even weirder one will use furniture or stand in the air so that looks weird. But damn if I can get mine to use the same behaviors. Difference is one came with a DAR folder with animations and the other didn't but works with out having the animations present in the other and a conditions txt file? I see nothing in CK that tells me how the game is making them use those animations. So I am stumped atm with this puzzle. -

Looks like they have facegen files and probably have to modify thier child race since head is not highlighted in the race window? Look at a child appearance mod to compare changes or to see what they changed. Not sure what they use for the head model. From what I have seen most child mods seem to be made with a new race. IE: normally a modified version of nord race that was duplicated and edited. Rosetta is a good example as I have actually increased her older version option's height since it didn't seem to be working in the FoMod, did that in SSEdit lest her face got meesed up by CK. Otherwise I'd have to replace her facegen with a saved copy.- 4 replies

I am making a follower just to learn how to do things in CK but I am stumped at how to change the hkx file when I can't even find them in the game directory. Instead of walking on the ground I want them to hover and fly around. I go to edit the behaviour in custom race using SSEdit but I can't change the file if I don't even know where to look for the hkx files so I can put the correct name in for the behavior. So where are they located? Or are they hidden? Thanks. -
I followed a tutorial on exporting facegen from an pc then merging it with a preset for use on a custom basic follower. I also rechecked the preset in racemenu and noticed the eyes were kinda janky in there. Racemenu is listed as a requirement and no mention of ECE or expressive faces. Hello, I started getting random ctds in a modded play through I just started after original save started doing it. Vortex warning I find in diagnostic log is : Tue, 13 Dec 2022 04:34:30 GMT - warn: [gameversion-hash] required file for game version hashing is missing f:\steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\appxmanifest.xml Exactly what does that mean? I had playing before with no ctd's. Google is no help surprisingly. Thank you.

I been dabbling and poking around trying to figure out how things work. I think I'll just have to reset my password on the other site and give the M/A a nudge since both mods are done by him. You forgot 2 colors! lol. I will keep at it since I've been converting/translating mods for personal use, nothing lost in learning. I was just curious on how the mod knows how many color variations it has and adds them to crafting or item menu. The recoloring will be a separate lesson for me :dance: Thank you both for your knowledge and the link.

Hello, I have a couple of clothing mods I want to add color variations to. For an amateur noob, what is the easiest way to do this? IE: existing mod has 7 color variations of the textures, I want to add say 2 more colors. I just need help in how I would go about this. I have a kitsune posse mod that has 9 followers but the author of the recolor mod only has 7 colors in the clothing mod he recolored. As always thank you for any knowledge imparted.

Follower causing Interior Cell to be black?

I got it taken cared of, so many versions of the mod that I think some got messed up because stuff was being drastically changed that other modders were just messing the mod up (from Korean site). Earlier versions have a quest line vs "newest" version the quests seemed to have been removed and perverted dialogue options had been added to main follower. -
Hello, My question is, why would a follower mod cause an interior cell they are put into to be completely black screen? It is a follower mod that I have been translating/converting to SE. I had this problem before and fixed it but forgot how. Thank you.

I changed a follower mod's body type from UNP to CBBE but have an issue. They came with stand alone skin textures I have no idea of how to convert. I replaced the textures with CBBE Diamond skin but now the follower's pubic hair doesn't match their hairstyle's color. I believe they're supposed to automatically match via the skin mod. How can I get that to work if not convert thier original skins? Thanks in advance.

Can someone look at and tell me what needs to be fixed or convert this mod? most of the short dresses, shoes, gloves umbrellas, head pieces, and fans seem to convert/work in SE. The long dresses have stretched out shapes/textures if not cause freezing/ctd. I have ran it thru COA, Nif Optimizer, and CK. My knowledge is limited to noob level. It is an LE mod with hdt smp pe physics. I believe the xml uses commas instead of periods and according to texture scan via NifOptimizer there are mipmaps missing? I will have to see if there's permissions to upload elsewhere. Thanks in advance for any help. -
How does one add a tag to a downloaded mod so it has a category to be filtered in Vortex? IE: I have followers and armors that aren't categorized.

I've started to use a companion mod and decided to change the outfit to cleaner clothes. I am a total noob to editing etc and figure wth, I'll play around fixing things on an existing Companion. The mod author is no longer working on the project. Busy working for Bethesda now. First problem was companion would go from default body shape to basically stay puff marshmallow man.Figured this was because I have CBBE installed. Also noticed invisible hands. I take the invisible hands as meaning the meshes are missing? Equip gloves and those show, take them off and no hands. I found a way to deal with the stay puff man body via adjusting sliders via CK. Companion also likes to default to default outfit at times. She is flagged ? as Unique if that makes a difference? Looking in FO4Edit I can see BOD2 template with listed slots, but I have no idea what changing the values does or what I would change hand values to for skin textures to be present? I even tried a preset to see what would happen and that did not fix invisible hands. Any insight is appreciated.
