  1. My friend had this problem and attributed it to him having to run Skyrim on the lowest graphical settings. My advice would be to update your video drivers and check your settings in Skyrim. Lastly, you can try a mod ENBSeries with this -- link --
  2. Wayward Perks (Since I can't think of a better name atm...) This mod is a perk expansion. My goal is simple: Every perk tree will have around 25 or so perks. Perks with ranks will be more gradual. New perk effects (if I manage to figure out how). More balanced magic system. Smithing overhaul (again, if I can figure out how). This mod is primary designed for a mod such as XSO - Tweaker Customizer Extender Awesomizer which enables the player to add in additional perk points and/or raises the level cap. I've been fidgeting around with perks for awhile now and I think I know my way around them enough I can create a decent mod out of it. I can easily adjust the perk level requirements, as well as whether or not the perk requires another prerequisite perk to be activated. Like Better Magic, I can also adjust the magic system to be more balanced, though I really don't think it would be much different from his (it's good). Also, like Caos Advanced Perk Ranks, I've managed to figure out how to adjust the amount of perk ranks you can get per perk. Though, I believe something went horribly wrong with his perks as many have complained that the later perks are vastly overpowered. In adjusting Overdrawn for Archery up to 10 ranks, I've encountered the anomaly and successfully squashed it. ;) The only thing that I really need help with is attempting to modify other values in the perks for specific effects. Smithing, for example, will be an overhaul. Generally, what I plan is to have various light and heavy armor and weapon styles placed in more general categories -- such as Rudimentary Smithing (fur, iron, steel), Basic Smithing (elven, dwarven), Advanced Smithing (advanced steel, orc), Exceptional Smithing (glass, ebony) and Unique Smithing (dragon, daedric). Arcane Blacksmith would be kept, and the other four categories would change into something different (if possible) such as Weapon Blacksmith (ranked, bonuses when using a grindstone), Armor Blacksmith (ranked, bonuses when using the bench), Artistic Touch (ranked, raising the base value of an item) and something else, maybe extracting more ingots out of a smelter for mining. Bear in mind however, all these are what I think may be possible. I really don't know and can't be for sure on the values I can modify or if I can even find them. Though I'm more sure on being able to lump different armor and weapon sets under the same perk, as well as being able to implement the Weapon/Armor Blacksmith perk then I am of the rest. All in all. I'm both excited about this project, and perversely horrified. It took me forever to figure out how to add ranks, change the percentage values, and modify the requirements. I'm sure the others I would be capable of figuring out as well, but it may take some time. Anyone with any knowledge on how to modify perks I would gladly accept any tips you have to offer, especially if it can refer to the smithing tidbit up there. I'll be adding in a spreadsheet or so what I plan to add as far as perks go. Currently I've written the warrior tree (save for smithing) and the rest will come soon enough. Lastly, this mod was written out of inspiration from several mods. The first, being Caos Advanced Perk Ranks which showed me that it was possible to modify the values of the game. Secondly by Better Magic whom the author had the curtousy to explain and share his findings on modifying perks. Of course, there are others as well. No Perk Prerequisites helped me understand how to modify the values to not include the previous perk as a requirement and XSO - Tweaker Customizer Extender Awesomizer pointed me to the value that modifies the perk level requirements.
  3. I've not toyed with adding an item in the game, but there's a guide on the Nexus on how. If you haven't looked it up, you can try it out -- it may have the answer you seek. TesSnip Skyrim Simple Plugins Guide
  4. Hello all. I guess I'm new to the forums, though I've been playing/modding TES games since Morrowind. I usually go under the alias of FireHeaven. Introductions aside, I'm attempting to modify perk values using both TESsnip (FOMM) and FO3Edit. I'm having one hell of a headache trying to actually get these programs to work. Short story -- I'm attempting to modify the bonuses gained per perk, add perks in (still haven't quite figured out how on this) and change the level requirements for some of the perks as well. I figure the bonuses gained per perk is handled by the float value under the last EPFD section as they match with the percentages in game. The Comparison Value under the first CTDA section regulate the level requirements. I've no idea how to add additional perks still, but it's a work in progress. Regardless, my main issue isn't that. The problem I'm having is modifying the actual values. With TESsnip I can only view the float values of the last "multi-upgradable" perks (such as Enchanter80, Haggling80, Alchemist80). When I create a blank plugin, input all the perks into the plugin via TESsnip and use FO3Edit to change the values, the plugin crashes FO3Edit as soon as I click on the perks tab -- despite being able to open Skyrim.esm alone and see the perks just fine. Can anyone give any insight on this? Or am I blind to something incredibly simple to fix? I know all these are possible (maybe not with these tools) as I've seen similar mods on the Nexus already up. Thanks in advance. EDIT: Ah! I was missing something. I can edit it with TESsnip. However, I'm still at somewhat of a loss on how to add more to the tier perks. Does anyone have any advice on how?
  5. I too am interested in this...been looking on the forums on how to edit perks and I can't find any. Nor does the mod author (Caos) have an email that I can ask him.
