Hello, As we know,if you don't or can't respond to a settlement attack, the game uses a woeful calculation to generate a success/fail, which hideously under-rates constructed defenses, ignores settler equipment, ignores defensive configuration/strategy, ignores walls and fences, etc. I was greenhousing on reddit, and came up with an idea that some people seem to like. Given that the game almost certainly can't actually sim an attack, an alternative would be to allow the player to respond to an attack by opting to view the settlement from either a fixed or mobile camera, an Automatron construct for this purpose, inhabit a settler, etc. There are a bunch of good suggestions, with different ideas for balancing to account for the enhanced capability of a settlement, and so on. I have no idea what goes into building a mod, so this may or may not be realistic. The original thread, with a more fleshed-out description and some discussion, is here: http://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/4pgdco/a_modest_proposal_for_the_futility_of_settlement/
