Yes. Yes. Tried downloading that, but it is similarly not opening, yet it says that it's running on the task manager. Hmmm... suspicious... Yes. It wouldn't even open the launch menu, so I wasn't able to do that. I don't recall seeing anything like that when I installed the OS, so maybe not. I didn't do that initially. I installed it the regular way, but it didn't run. After that, I copied all of the old files (including the ini files) to the new folder. Like I mentioned above, I installed it in a different path (my documents/games/bethesda softwords/fallout 3). But based on what you said, I may have made a mistake by copying the ini files. I downloaded the latest game version. I have Steam for New Vegas, but Fallout 3 was from a disk (Game of the Year edition, Games for Windows Live, etc.). I'll try reinstalling and following all of the instructions you guys gave me. One of the problems is that it doesn't even open the launch menu. It will autorun the CD, but when I select the option to run Fallout 3 Launcher, it doesn't do anything. I was starting to wonder if I was missing some kind of video format that is important to the game, and that was causing it to ctd without any message or whatever, but I wouldn't think that would have any effect on the launch menu, would it? EDIT: I just noticed, I don't think my computer does Autorun. But even so, would that matter if I just manually go into the CD and try to launch the game by clicking on the exe? Also, I got the GFWL client installed and running, but that doesn't seem to have had any effect on anything.

So I recently built myself a new computer, as my old one was dying, and was old technology anyway. I don't remember much about the system specs on my old computer - other than the operating system was Windows Vista - but it ran games like Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Skyrim perfectly fine, albeit at lower graphics settings. It wasn't until after I built my new computer that I discovered that Fallout 3 is not compatible with Windows 7, which is the operating system I got. I've since been looking all over the place trying to find fixes. I've tried pretty much every tutorial I could find, and nothing has worked so far. I noticed a bit of a difference between what was happening with me, and what other people reported happened in their cases. In general, it seemed that for other people, the game would start to load, but then crash before reaching the loading screen or anything like that. For me, however, it didn't even get that far. When I put the FO3 GOTY CD in, it doesn't autorun. I can manually go into the disc and activate the Setup.exe to install the game, but whenever I try to run Fallout3.exe, FalloutLancher.exe, or FOSE (even if I try running it through FOMM) nothing happens. I've tried it both modded and unmodded. The cursor shows something loading for a couple seconds, but then goes back to normal, and the screen doesn't change or anything. Again, I've tried editing the Fallout_Default.ini, I tried switching the exe's to Windows XP (Service Pack 3), I've tried to run as administrator, and nothing is working. I even attempted to reinstall the game on different drives (I have an HDD and an SSD, as well as an external hard drive), but it didn't work anywhere. After giving up on that, I decided to try Fallout: New Vegas instead, since it is apparently compatible with Windows 7. However, the results were exactly the same. Modded or unmodded, it would not run at all. At this point, I noticed that when I run the Task Manager and click on the Processes tab, it shows multiple processes of the aforementioned exe's running at the same time (as in, there were about four Fallout3.exe's running, and same with all the others, including New Vegas). I closed them all and then went back and tried starting both games again separately, but they still would not open up, yet are shown as processes currently being run. The GECK seems to work fine, although I didn't take the time to play around with it at all, but at least it opened the program like it should. I've been playing Skyrim on this computer for several weeks now, as well as other games like Guild Wars 2, Mass Effect 3, and a few others, all of which work perfectly. So I'm pretty confident that this situtation is isolated to Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Normally, I'd be able to deal with it, but the main reason I'm upset about this is because on my previous computer, I've spent a HUGE amount of time working on a personal project for Fallout 3 that would add a furistic sci-fi setting similar to Halo or Mass Effect to the Fallout universe. I have tons of mods from other users, and a lot of my own modifications that I've spent months developing. My biggest desire (as far as video games are concerned) is to have an open rpg game similar to Fallout 3 or Skyrim, but set in a futuristic setting like Halo or Mass Effect, like I said. I was nowhere near finished, but I feel like all of that effort I've put into was all for nothing now, and as far as I'm aware, there are no other games in which I could accomplish this (unless I heavily modded Skyrim into a futuristic setting, but I don't think ANYONE would have the motivation to pull that off). SO, before I completely give up, I want to consult with the community and find out if there's anything else I can do at this point to save my games (and, possibly, my sanity). I suspect that the issue isn't necessarily Windows 7, because 1) My brother's computer is W7, and it runs fine on his, other than crashing a couple times when first trying to start the game. And 2) New Vegas is supposed to be compatible with W7, yet it won't open at all on my computer. So I'm beginning to think that it might have to do with something else in my computer, possibly a specific piece of programming or hardware that isn't compatible with the engine that both games run on. Here are the specs to my computer, if this helps anyone figure out what is wrong: -OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) -Processor: IntelĀ® Core i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50 GHz (8CPUs), ~3.5GHz -RAM: 16384 MB -SSD (C:): ATA Samsung SSD 840 SCSI Disk Device (125 GB) -HDD (E:): WDC WD10EZEX-22RKKA0 ATA Device (1 TB) -Optical Drive: ATAPI iHAS 124 W SCSI CdRom Device -Video Card: Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 (4 GB) -DirectX Version: DirectX 11 I'm not sure what else to put besides that. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out with this. If you need to know more about my system specs, let me know specifically what to look for, and I'll update the above list. My brother mentioned the possibility of setting up my computer to run both Windows 7 and Windows XP at the same time. I didn't even know that was possible. Is it worth considering?

Wasn't sure where else to post this. I've recently discovered a little bug that occurs with the new Mounted Combat update when I have any mods installed that extend the color choices for character creation. You know how when you're attacking from horseback, you basically hit anything that's right next to you (as opposed to having to face them directly with your crosshair)? After a lot of trial and error, and much to my frustration, I've found that with any color extending mods, it makes it so that you can only hit targets that are directly in front of you, rather than being able to hit enemies at your side as you ride past them. I've tested this out with expired6978's Extended Slider Colors mod, found here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=6923, and tktk1's Enhanced Character Edit mod, found here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=12951, and I got the same results with both mods. Don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but I thought I'd post it. It essentially makes it a LOT harder to hit your targets while attacking from horseback, because instead of being able to strike your enemies as you rush past them, the only way you're going to hit them is if you point your horse straight at them, basically. Pretty frustrating, as I like to have lots of options for colors, but I'd rather have the mounted combat. As far as I've been able to tell, this doesn't occur with mods like Apachii's hair mod, which is good. And at least it doesn't cause you to stand on your saddle. :)

@StuartSmiles: The way I did it at first is to just go into the console (ingame), select trees, and type "setscale x"; with x being a number between 1-10. Unfortunately, if you want trees like this throughout Skyrim, this is definitely the most tedious way to do it. I'm still trying to figure out other methods. @EvilDeadAsh34: I tried increasing their size through nifskope, but it caused a weird error. When I load my game, all of the trees look large when I'm a certain distance from them, but when I get closer, *POP*, they're small again. And I'm pretty sure it's not just the LOD that I increased, because they're close enough that they shouldn't use LOD, plus they look like the 3d models, but as soon as I get closer, they get small... and then, when I move farther away, they get big again. Did anything like this happen to you? What exactly did you do to make them bigger? I just opened them up in NifSkope, right-clicked the meshes I wanted to scale up, clicked transform>>edit, increased the scale, and then clicked apply for all of them. Did I miss something? Also, whenever I try to save, a little message pops up that says "link points to wrong block type". Any idea what that's all about? Edit: Nevermind, I think I figured it out. I managed to make the models bigger, but I'm having that same problem where if I look straight up, some of the trees disappear (and I only set them to 4x bigger). Another problem is that the collision isn't affected, so when I walk up to a tree, I can basically phase right through it, because the collision is still the original size. Plus, with all of the trees scaled up like that, it really blocks your view in areas where a lot of trees are clustered together, and stuff like that. I think what I may end up doing is starting a little project to pick out trees throughout Skyrim and scale them up using the CK. That way, I can just pick trees that are in good enough positions that scaling them up won't cause any weird problems (like a giant tree right in the middle of the road). It'll take a long time, but I think it'll be worth it, and I'll probably release it... unless someone else beats me to the punch, lol.

When I upped the scale ingame, I only increased them by about 3-5 x their original size, which was big enough for me. I'll give it a try and see how it works out. I suppose it wouldn't affect the LOD trees, would it?

So I was wandering around Skyrim the other day, and just for fun, I started tweaking the scale of various creatures and objects. My first victim was a dragon, which, unfortunately, caused some weird bugs where he dissappeared for a second, moved way too fast when he reappeared, and looked all weird and screwed up when he landed on the ground. Hopefully a mod will be made to address that stuff. But anyway, I eventually started increasing the scale of various trees to about 3-5 times their initial size, and I was rather amazed by the way this affected the feel of the environment. My surroundings suddenly felt so much more epic, and all I did was increase the size of five or six trees around me. Here's some screenshots to show what I'm talking about: http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q569/IronhideLivesOn/BigTrees_01.jpg http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q569/IronhideLivesOn/BigTrees_02.jpg http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q569/IronhideLivesOn/BigTrees_03.jpg Problem is, I can't exactly go around Skyrim and manually scale up trees in every area. I suppose I could, but that would take a lot more time than I think it's worth. With the CK out, I investigated it to see if it was possible to simply scale up all of the trees by modifying the original files through the CK (not the objects placed throughout the world, but the base files themselves), but alas, my brief inspection turned up no such option. Is anyone aware of a possible way to scale up all of the game's trees, or would my best bet probably just be to take the time to handpick individual trees throughout Skyrim and scale them using the CK?

Hi all, I'm new to the forums here. My brother KelenStardragon's been a member for a while, and got me into modding. Anyway, I'm trying to make a collection of modern "non-apocalyptic" clothing for Fallout 3 using Blender, and I've hit a bit of a stump. When I make clothes that don't require me to add exta body parts (for example, if I make a long-sleeved shirt that covers up all of the arms and neck and everything), it exports fine and works perfectly ingame. However, when I try to add body parts to the model (for example, if I make a T-shirt that requires me to add the arms from the character model), then it doesn't show up in game. Oddly enough, when I import it into geck, it shows up in the model viewer, but when I actually try to equip it ingame, nothing shows up, and my character just looks like a floating head. Is there some important step I'm missing when it comes to adding the body parts to a model? Here's the settings I'm using for exporting models from blender: http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g23/Rashgaeroth/ExportSettings.png I asked Kelen about it, but he doesn't know what the problem is or how to fix it. Some help here would be vastly appreciated.
