Whoops: *NEED help Seems lame, but this was an essential part of my next playthrough. Going for some Raider/Renegade Synth role play... About 3 months ago I was able to use mods like "Glowing Eyes" without issue; it was plug and play. Since then I had fully cleaned out my computer of all mods and fallout files, and waited for a couple of weeks after Nuka World so that my essentials could get patched. This time around, the only difference has been that I used "The Eyes of Beauty" mod for Fallout 4 including its .exe file. Now no eye mods will work, and I have tried a handful. No glitches, no errors, nothing like that, its more like I hadn't installed any; there is simply no content. Anyone else had this issue before? The only other difference between last time and now is that I used a longer string in the .ini: sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\ I have added in the appropriate lines into Fallout4Custom and Fallout4Prefs Please keep in mind: I have previously had this mod working plug and play style

Nexus Mod Manager focus group needs more help
iSagan replied to TheTokenGeek's topic in Site Updates
I recently installed Nexus Mod Manager as an alternative to other mod managers, because its much more user friendly to people who are completely new to the mod scene. I have never modded a game in my life before Fallout 4 a couple of days ago. I managed to download a small Console mod for survival mode (which disables the console) so that I could fix bugs and issues I encounter. I worked fine, downloading and activating was extremely smooth and simple. I was 1 large mod away from going platinum just to show appreciation (I was ridiculously happy I thought it would be very complicated). HOWEVER, 3 days later, after playing Fallout 4 when ever I was on the computer, the Nexus Mod Manager has stopped working entirely. I follow the instructions with complete comprehension, I install the mod via NMM and attempt to activate the mods. Most of the time they activate, other times they won't. Either way, active or not, the mods now make no difference. I get it all working, according to the manager and all the help on the forums I could get, but for some reason the mods never appear in game. I tested with a Dialogue mod, after I manually install it myself and avoid interactions with the Nexus it works 100%. When I try WITH the Nexus, it didn't work. I might be in a small group, but either way, you're losing money and support. Fix the bugs and give us some better tech support before you throw your current version into the trash to add flashier UIs otherwise it will be another 6 months before you even return to the people like me. Whats worse about all this hassle which chewed up 40 hours of my time and gave me a persistant head ache, is now I can't play Fallout 4 after seeing the amazing mods that are out there. -
In that case we can scratch that one off the list; they are both in the same drive. I tested with the Dialogue mod... Download through the Nexus, activate it, no change Manually download it, place the files in the folder, works perfectly fine For some reason its the interaction with the Mod Manager that is the issue. And it only started a couple of days after I had no problem using it. This is why its so frustrating, usually with computers, at least you can knock one problem at a time till there's nothing left it can throw at you and you finally get it up and running. I haven't found a single thing I can fix, tinker with or adjust. It worked fine, reinstalling isn't needed. So what now? My head feels like its going to explode in a white hot rage. No matter how hard I try to figure this out I'm taking the long complicated roads to no where. The offer still stands, if you wanna take me up on it. A walk through with team viewer/skype screen viewer could earn you a few bucks. I've wasted more than a week trying to wrap my head around all this BS drama and right now I can't even start up the game after seeing all the amazing mods. So you'll be helping me make the money I spent on this game worth it. Just consider it, at least to watch my process in case I'm in fact doing something incorrectly. Or if an option is off in the Nexus or w/e w/e w/e... I just need a way to make this simple now its been a literal constant head ache and my eyes feel like 20kg weights.

I can't do that. I can't risk the console mod on the reliability of NMM. Also, Aree found references to other people having the same issue I have, and that the development team is looking for people to help with the bug. Mods not activating is not the primary issue either; its not why I'm here. The NMM activates most mods but they never do anything to the game. To recap so you don't ask me all these things from scratch again: Yes, I editted the .ini Yes, I followed every instruction, ticking them off 1 by 1 as I successfully followed them Yes, I checked for plugins and activated the mods After that I open the game and no difference. The discussion about AWKCR not activating was separate, and used purely as an example of additional problems I've had with NMM. I either have to wait for the patch that resolves my issue, or hope someone has an answer to the problem, or can hop on team viewer and walk me through mod installation so they can see it themselves and join me in trying to work it out. There is no problem with Fallout 4, I have done the verification and reinstallation several times which wasted literally a full week of game time. There was no problem with NMM initially; it allowed me to download the console mod without issue doing it the same as anyone else would experienced or not. And the mods are commonly used; if there were issues it would be well known. Since the time I successfully modified my game to support Survival Mode Consoles I have only played Fallout 4, I haven't downloaded anything or updated my system. And so, here we are. Caught up again. So lets try and narrow it down till I get to the issue rather than talking about preferred ways to download mods. Like I said in my last post, I want the NMM fixed so it's usable again. I DO NOT care enough to study on mods and further my frustration with computers, and the main reason I'm using NMM is because its user friendly and seemingly wasn't overly complicated for someone who hasn't modded before.
-
Yeah sure, maybe he's right about manual installation but that moves me absolutely no where. I still have the problem with NMM, I'm not interested in spending ~2 weeks of my time learning how all this works and there is no sign of an issue that could be fixed. I'm talking about risking the console mod, Aree. If it goes with the NMM after I remove it to get an older version (which might not work and have the same problem) then its only hours till the game encounters a fatal bug only the console could fix and I would be forced into starting a new game. Making all that time and effort disappear. That's what I mean. Lets keep in mind, while all these work arounds work great as a bandaid for 1 mod or another, I won't be able to have the Nexus experience until we find the issue and the product becomes nearly irrelevant. In the case for the Full Dialogue and Console mod, I didnt even need Nexus, which makes these work arounds increasingly irrelevant. I just want to fix the NMM, I don't want to learn about manual installation, I want to play Fallout 4.

Aree, will manually installing mods make mod loading impossible? Gunna give it a quick go in the morning but if it ends up destroying my game I'm gunna go nuclear, so I need to know whether or not I can use a mod loader on manual installations first. Also, the AWKCR mod is required for another mod I want, based on fixing the armor issues the base game never patched. And yes, I don't want the console mod to stop working. I just can't risk it, I've enjoyed and loved this survival playthrough and if I trash that for another version of NMM that gives me the exact same problems I'm gunna end up drop kicking a heated water tank. You're still not helping at all Gilibran.
-
If I unistall the manager, Aree, I risk losing the console mod. Which I just can't risk in Fallout. I'm not gunna throw a 40 hour survival mode file into the trash on any more false promises from NMM. These are some instructions from AWKCR: "Make ArmorKeywords.esm a master on your .esp and link it as a required file when you upload your mod" Like eat a d**k as if a casual gamer knows what any of that means. I just want to play the effin game I don't wanna get a diploma in IT just to place the folders some where........... Which is exactly why I need NMM to work. Whats worse is now when I open Fallout 4 I'm flooded with stress because now I associate it to this experience and it's completely put me off it.......................... ARGHHH..........
-
Ahhh fk it I'm totally done. I got 3 hours sleep because of how stressful this has been, and the fact that it chewed up nearly all my time off work trying to get this friggen manager to cooperate with my system has been a constant migraine. Every mod that comes with manual instructions is only something someone who already knows how to manually install could understand, some with none at all, and I havent even gotten to download the mods yet which I KNOW will have even more technical issues. Gotta thank the Nexus Mod for successfully maintaining a head ache for 30 hours straight and completely wasting my time. Everything is counter intuitive, like why the effin hell could I install a single mod on the first day without an issue, and now every single one I've tried has been drama after drama? Plus this forum lurker Purr4Me is clearly obsessed and not leaving this thread any time soon. And don't whine about people being rude Purr4Me, you think your replies are more important than reading what people have actually said. Not only is it frustrating and a complete waste of both our time, it's narcissistic and nothing but a problem. Which, by the way, is also rude." I might come back eventually and return to banging my head on a wall but for now I'm done with this grief and it's extremely disappointing because I was 1 successful mod away from going premium which would've totally screwed me if I didn't test other mods first.

I am going to attempt 1 more time. I am to believe this issue (http://oi64.tinypic.com/14tpy5y.jpg) is your issue? IF so ? double click it and it will be enabled. not bothering you any more. that's a simple fix and I sand boxed NMM to to maker sure. Cataloged a few screen shots for back up. Seriously, I know this is rude, but just stop. You aren't reading the posts, you just scim them and go with your gut feeling. I literally said that the problem was that no matter how much I clicked activate it wouldn't activate, and that picture was to show him that after I enabled it, thats what it looked like. Just, no more replies. At least not here. You're not helping at all, and the fact that you ignore everything people have said here is incredibly frustrating. I have to constantly repeat myself with you, and your original post here was a download link for a whole separate mod installer. You're clearly not here to help me with NMM. If you were, you would read what I say, like Aree does.
-
Yeaaah I won't be able to do manual installations...... Mods like Armor and Weapon Keywords Community Resource (AWKCR) come with absolutely no instructions besides "use NMM". I don't want to learn how to be a modder just to install some simple files, I mainly just want to play Fallout............. I don't know how to do any of this stuff and I'm not investing any more time than I've currently spent trying to learn it. I was sold on this being a user friendly mod for people who don't want to waste away 3 months of their life trying to learn how to mod The only issue with that tho Aree is that no mods are working any more. I've tried a bunch. The full dialogue one is the only mod I've been able to get working because the manual installation had instructions, and it never interacted with NMM I can't find any setting or websites saying anything about a 'Multi HDD' setting, can you help me out with that and see if that fixes it? Thank fk I didn't get premium.
-
Bahahahahahaahaha found the ACTUAL manual installation file for the Dialogue mod, apparently I had to scroll down quite a bit on the Nexus page and I was using the wrong 'full download' file. So that mod is currently working. I'll have to try something with actual plugins now so I'll need even more time. This mod in particular never interacted with the NMM which is more evidence that it's an issue with the manager and my system. That being said, now I'm worried about how I'll use a Mod Loader. If I do them all manually, are mod loaders till able to pick up on the mods that are in use? I have about 30 or so mods in total I'd really love to have in my game which I'll test 1 by 1, making sure they work, and then finally ending with a mod loader and tinkering with that till its all working smoothly. If I install manually, will this end up causing issues?
-
A lot of my picks don't have instructions on downloading manually... Some of which I've already tried and their instructions are out dated (Full Dialogue for example didn't have the folders it said it should have). Most of the mods here depend almost entirely on NMM to do that sort of work and I feel like I'm just going to keep hitting technical walls if I get into this manual realm. It also doesn't help explain why I was able to install a mod flawlessly when I first downloaded the program, and now none will work. I'll post in 10 minutes with the update. **I'll be back in maybe an hour or so. I had to back up my data folder and it's gunna take about 15 min to transfer it over, then some time to fix up the mod and do as you suggested, and then test it out... So yeah I'll chat later tyvm for giving me a hand hope you're still available later.
-
Yeah that was one of the first things I did. Either way, mods like the Full Dialogue just aren't activating in the NMM. It's clearly an issue with the NMM, not the game picking up the changes. It might be worth mentioning that no changes were made to my system or NMM after I successfully got the console mod. All my time on my computer has been in game.
