About DeluxeSux

  1. No, that is business. It's not an evil plot - it simply is business. Why do you folks still think, there's some moral at play? The whole reason why business exists is to make money for it's owners. Satisfying the customers is a way to make even more money, but it's not the purpose. Steam workshop, as far as I see it, is some kind of brainstorming to use in future products. The fineprint will strip the uploaders of their rights - that's a given - but money is probably not it's immediate goal. Again, worst case scenrio. We, the modding community, do not know what the CK's fine print is yet. However, Hammer's fine print (now I could be wrong, it's been awhile) states that the create of the map/object/ect is the sole owner of that creation. Now, lets look at Garry's mod. From what I remember, Valve cuts him a check from the sales that it (the mod) makes. A mod using Hammer. Valve's CS/CK. Now I don't know about you, but that doesn't sound that bad. Does that mean Beth will follow suit? No. But it does look good. No, it doesn't. They can do whatever they want with their own property. If they want to take everything from you there's not a damn thing you can do about it! Btw, make me a Werewolf mod. :P
  2. Just give it a rest. Trolling and backtrolling will get this topic locked. I'm not trolling. I'm giving my opinion. The entire topic is about Steam... what do you want me to do? Dance for them so it doesn't get locked...?
  3. I took the liberty of quoting the 2 points that are the most important. Working in the corporate world since 1990 I know what can be done with the kind of data collected by users who think nothing of it. If you strip services like steam down to their core they're legal spyware. It's the same with facebook and all the little helpers on the internet. Does anyone really believe these services are offered for free? They're there because there's a whole lot of money involved. A whole lot of money earned by selling the collected data. Also, as has been said, there are other issues involved. Noone knows how the marriage of steam and the CK actually works. Chances are that mod creators lose the rights to their own creations, since there's additional money to be made. Yup. Once you post a picture on Facebook... It's theirs to do with as they please...
  4. Are Steam paying you btw...?
  5. Do have a Facebook account? Gmail/Hotmail/Yahoo Mail? Do you use Internet Explorer? Do you own a cell phone? Everything in this day and age keeps track of what we're doing and where we're going. Do you get paid to use Facebook? Do you get paid to IE? Do you get paid to use Google Search? All these programs/websites and more log what sites you visit, what site you came from, and what your going to. There is a constant flow of data on the internet. Everything you do is logged and sold to someone somewhere to make products/commercials that are tailored to your taste. This is a practice that has existed for many years before Steam was even thought of. It's the way of the world. As far as ScriptDragon, LAA and such, how is anymore convoluted then setting up Oblivion? Wyre Bash, TESEdit, 4Gb Patch, BOSS, ect, ect. And yet I CHOSE to use them. They didn't come bundled with something I PAID for, only to latch on like a bloomin' leech.
  6. Oh dear, another person who thinks that actually works. It DOESN'T, at least not for me and most of the people I have spoken to. It didn't for FONV and it doesn't for Skyrim. You have to take Steam offline or it merrily ignores the "do not update this game" command. SHHHH! He's won this debate! Didn't you hear?! Don't provoke him more or he'll win the whole interwebz!
  7. So basically your upset because Steam makes life easier? Good lord man, just admit you wanted to start a troll thread and we can all be on our way. I can't get on the game because it's downloading something... how is that easier?! I could have put it on myself overnight... Granted I'm new to this but man, it's a gaming culture shock, and I'm not impressed. Aaah, so the issue is, the game is updating but you want to play it now, correct? Well, how is that any different from playing the game while you download the patch then applying the patch? You'll have what, three, four minutes extra of gaming time? Really, three minutes, that's what you're upset about? Amazing. You don't have a job yet do you? Have to drive to work in traffic? Waiting is part of life, it's something you're going to have to learn to deal with. Or.. You're upset because you have to download the game? Well, you don't. You can buy a hard copy of it and install it. Sir, all your arguments are invalid. I have won this debate. Please see yourself out the door and I will bid you adieu. There is a difference between being forced to patch a game and choosing when you want to patch it. Steam doesn't let us choose and the only way to have a say in that matter is to keep it offline. By the way when you've had a long day and spent some time stuck in traffic the last thing you want when you finally get home is not to be able to play the game (that worked perfectly fine the day before) because you have to wait for Steam to patch it. Waiting may be a part of life but some of us wait enough irl to simply want a hassle free gaming experience that doesn't include getting locked out of the game we've been playing the night before... Especially when the extra hassle is caused by some piece of software that brings nothing to the game. Oh God another one. Please pay attention because I will I may lose you with this. 1. Start up Steam 2. Go to the Steam Library (where your games are kept) 3. Right-Click on Skyrim (this works for all games in fact) 4. Select Properties from the drop down menu 5. Select the Update Tab 6. Look closely, there will be a box that asks if you wish for Steam to keep this game up to date, turn that option off. 7. Click OK There you go, now the game will only update when you want it to. Come on champ, is that the best argument you can come up with for Steam? *Rocky Tune*
  8. There's the door btw. Yes, it's still there.

I walk I don't drive there. I have a hard copy of the game. And the wait is 6 hours. Sorry to rain on your parade, SIR. The door's this way! Follow me! Your arguments are still invalid. Anything you say from here on out means nothing. NOTHING. You have been officially branded as a troll and will be treated as such. So, because you don't agree with me I'm a troll? Or is it because you can't win you brand me a troll to try and get out of it? I'm not a troll. It's what I think and if you don't like it "thread winner" do one. Thanks.

  11. Bit quiet there. Are you busy waiting?

  14. See, someone else who understands. There was a time boys and girls, if you lost the jewel case or instruction booklet to your game, you either bought a new copy or prayed you copied the CD key and saved it somewhere else. I've got two copies of Diablo 2 because of this very reason. I'll write mine down thanks. Later Steam.
  15. Ah! The 'troll' one again! You like it, I don't. That doesn't make me a troll, friend. Just saying. The point of this was; does anyone else too. Feel free to make your own post asking if anyone else loves it! *sigh*
