Ah, good idea on changing the shader; I'll see if I can get something acceptable. Thank you for the help. -
Help changing armor's body skin textures
EnvyMachinery replied to EnvyMachinery's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Does that mean there's no way to do this? -
An armor mod I'm using has a modified mesh of the base body I have and I'm trying to add a custom normal map to fit with it. I've assigned the texture to the model in Nifskope, but curiously no texture changes I make to the body mesh specifically show up in-game. I've tried taking off all other pieces of equipment and messing with my skin tone and tintmasks in the race menu, but nothing's worked. I can't imagine what could be causing this conflict.

GomaPeroPero has images of this outfit on his Tumblr, but there's no information about it. I'd like to know if it's a publicly released mod and, if so, what it's called and where I might find it. Thanks. https://flic.kr/p/Xu6FyN https://flic.kr/p/Xu6Ffw

Never mind. I don't know what the hell was going on. I can't find a delete thread button, so...

Changing your non-forum profile picture
EnvyMachinery replied to EnvyMachinery's topic in Site Support
Ah, crap, sorry to make a redundant thread. I did some Googling to try and find if anyone was having a similar issue, but I couldn't find anything. I didn't think to try the forums' search function. Thanks for the response. -
Is it even possible to do this? The only profile picture link I can find takes me to the forums, which changes my picture for the forums exclusively just fine, but has no effect on my picture for the main site. Assistance would be most appreciated.

Sorry about the late response. I also posted this on reddit because I typically got fast responses there back in the days when I actually used it. However, I stopped getting responses extremely quickly, so that sucks. Anyway, I solved the issue with ENB and part of the issue with DSR, but I'm still having some problems. The problem with ENB is that it was installed to MO without also being installed to Skyrim's main data folder, which I guess it needs to be to run. DSR wasn't working because XMPS was my lowest priority mod for some reason. So I reordered everything and my weapons are now both showing up on my back, but I still have the default unsheathing-from-the-hip animation. My running and sprinting animations are also still incorrect, even after re-running Skyproc patchers and FNIS. I'm still not sure how that can be possible, but at this point I'm thinking that only reinstalling Skyrim can fix it. That still leaves me with this DSR problem, though. =/

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I've run FNIS a ton. I edited the main post. As for installation, there's not much to installing an animation mod; it's pretty much drag, drop, and forget. Plus I did reinstall it several times.

I'm at my wit's end. After hearing for a while how awesome MO is and all the stuff it does, I decided to spend the past couple days reinstalling Skyrim and making the switch. It was an arduous process, but I finally got everything set up to the best of my knowledge and decided to test out running the game. Long story short, my ENB (RealVision) is too dark, dual sheath redux isn't working (right hand weapon sheathed on hip, left hand weapon under my feet, unsheath animation is vanilla, sheath animation is dual swords on back, like it's supposed to be), and my running animations are incorrect. The ENB darkness was strange because I backed up all of my ENB files and replaced them. I then manually adjusted the AmbientLightingIntensityNight value to 2, but there was no change as far as I could tell. I bumped it to 3 and then 6. No change. This forces me to assume that the enbseries.ini file is just not being looked at at all, somehow. That makes no sense to me. For DSR, I've tried everything. I've reinstalled everything, ran patchers a dozen times, read every piece of even slightly relevant advice I could find. Nothing changes. Sword on hip, other sword under feet, wrong unsheath animation. The animation issue baffles me the most. At first, I forgot that the archive includes animations that I didn't want, so I deleted them manually from the folder in MO. No change; still running the same way. Then I searched my computer for the files themselves and found that they were in my custom race's folder, too, so I deleted those. Still no change. Finally, I reinstalled it and cut them out. No change. I tried a few more times, no change. I searched my entire computer again to make sure they absolutely 100% didn't exist, and they don't. I've also ran FNIS at least once after everything I did. I don't understand how this is even possible right now. What do?

I built a PC last week and Skyrim is suddenly having insane issues. I played it the first day that I had everything running for several hours without any problems whatsoever. I've added more mods since then, though nothing drastic, and after a little bit, my entire computer froze. A friend of mine, who helped me build the PC, looked through the event logs and couldn't find any errors. He suggested I revert to older drivers for my graphics card, and I did. I then got in about five minutes of gameplay before my computer froze again. I rebooted, relaunched, and this time, got about two minutes in, and my entire computer shut off. I have had this happen consistently two more times after that. RCRN AE is one of the most recent mods I had installed, so I removed it. Just now, I got in about 20 minutes of gameplay before my PC shut itself off again. I turned on papyrus logs for the hell of it and they don't have any errors. I've tried searching this issue to death and can say with 1000% certainty that it is not a lack of computing power and it's not overheating. I am not experiencing this problem with any other games. Here are my technical specs. GeForce GTX 660 AMD FX-8320 Vishera 3.5GHz 735W PSU 8GB DDR3 SDRAM Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Here is my load order. Yeah, the Dark Souls board is literally dead. There have been four replies across eight threads that make up the entire activity of the last six months.
-
My original intro apologized for being in a different board, but I was in a rush out the door and thought that I was on a general board for some reason. I did intentionally go through the Skyrim nexus, though, because the community is way, way bigger here and I am hoping that I will have a better chance getting a good answer, since a lot of the users here seem like they know a lot about modding in general, and I only know a small amount about modding Skyrim and the tools to do so.

Basically, I'd like to make a mod for Dark Souls that allows you (me) to use a custom body type in the game. I know that that requires a lot of work on my end (making the model, refitting the clothes, rigging the bones, yadda yadda), but there isn't much information on modding this game that I can find. I'd like some help on what programs I'd need to do stuff like rigging the bones and importing the model, especially if I want to make it independent from other body types as a separate thing you can choose during creation. Any information, even a referral to a better place to ask (I've already tried the Dark Souls subreddit. Not sure where else to post), would be greatly appreciated.

I've been trying to figure this out for days. I want to make it so that anything I change on one side of a mesh also happens on the other side of the mesh, such as moving vertices, creating new vertices, and adding/removing faces. I've tried the mirror modifier, but applying the mirror only duplicated the other verticies and they still move independently. If I don't apply the modifier, then I can move the vertices exactly the way I want, but I can't apply faces in between them. The "X mirror" and "topology mirror" options under mesh options do nothing and launch one of the vertices to the opposite end of the axis, respectively. I know that this ability exists because I've somehow gotten it to work in the past, but I have no idea how to do it.

Viewing multiple objects in Blender 2.68

Okay, I'm dumb. Appending the object files rather than the mesh seems to have solved my issue. -
Viewing multiple objects in Blender 2.68
EnvyMachinery replied to EnvyMachinery's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Also, I should clarify that I opened the original .nifs in Blender 2.49, saved them as .blend files, and am now trying to edit them in Blender 2.68. The interface looks drastically different depending on whether I open the .blend file or not, and I'm now also trying to append the .blend files into new ones that have nothing in them, but the meshes don't appear. -
I'm trying to convert some armors and I'm using Blender for the first time. I have the two meshes I'm trying to use saved as .blend files and, after using the append function to import the second mesh, I can't figure out how to get them both to be visible at the same time so that I can fit one to the other. The only way I can find that will even let me swap views is by selecting this little thing that says "Browse Mesh Data to be linked."

Steam derped today and uninstalled my games. I reinstalled Skyrim and now none of my mods are listed in Data Files or in the CK. The game loads them just fine, and I tried deactivating and then reactivating one, but nothing changed. I even deleted all of my .esps and restored them from a backup I made and that didn't do anything. The only things I can find on Google are people talking about how they're playing for the first time and have problems with NMM and stuff, so I have no idea how to fix this.

The title is pretty self-explanitory, but specifically, when I go to the "Character Gen Parts" tab, I can't edit the hair at all. My only option is "DEFAULT." I'd also like to know if I can use a specific head morph from Epic Elves' presets as the face for this NPC. Any help is appreciated.

ZBrush vs. Blender; need help getting started
EnvyMachinery replied to EnvyMachinery's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Thanks for the responses. I had a passing thought about whether I could use Blender 2.6 for the actual modelling, but all of my shortcuts changed to the 2.49b version when I installed it, so I figured you couldn't have both. I'll have to look around, I guess. -
I hate to be "that guy" that bugs everyone with a topic about getting started, but I could really use some real, human input at this point. So I'm looking to get into Skyrim modding, not only because I want to make stuff for myself, but because I'm very seriously looking to make a career out of 3D modelling, texturing, and animation. I've spent the last couple days watching videos, downloading programs, and reading tutorials about how to start all this stuff, but, quite frankly, this is way more than I bargained for. There's so much information and not very many sources that give good instruction for someone who's completely new to everything. The biggest setback for me is that it's extremely difficult to find any guides on using Blender 2.49b now that there are newer versions. I spent a few hours messing around with tools, but I can't figure out how to shape a model the way I want and the camera alone is wearing on my nerves. I simply find the program to be unbearably user-unfriendly and, coupled with my inability to actually sculpt anything properly, I'd like to find an alternative. I've read (sort of) that models built in ZBrush can be imported to Skyrim, whether proxied through Blender or otherwise, and, from what I've seen, it looks infinitely easier to use. So, on to my questions. Is ZBrush totally fine to use rather than Blender? Information was a little scarce and chock-full of jargon I've never seen or heard before, so are there some guides for going about what needs to be done to import ZBrush stuff into Nifscope, as well as importing models from vanilla Skyrim into ZBrush? I realize that these kinds of threads are probably overdone to all hell, so I very much appreciate any and all help, advice, suggestions, and feedback. Thanks in advance.

LE Animations that are not completely and utterly s***.
EnvyMachinery replied to jack254's topic in Skyrim's Mod Ideas
NPCs sometimes use hand gestures during dialogue, but there's only a couple and a lot of times they continue even when they're not talking. -
This is my first posting, but I've been browsing the site a lot. Unfortunately, my PC probably can't run this game very well, so I have it for the 360 instead. I'm very envious of all you guys with totally rad (or whatever the kids are saying) computers that can run all these awesome mods. Anyway, since I've been poking around the site, I've been very curious if someone had made any mods related to where you holster your weapons. When I first got the game, I was very excited to see how dual-wielding worked because I hated that, in Oblivion, rogues had a free hand. Considering that dual-wielding was a highly promoted new feature, I was very confused to see that your off-hand weapon just appears and disappears when you unsheath and sheath your weapons. In addition to that, daggers hang by your waist and clip through the left leg of any female character. I tried doing searches for mods that changed these in any way, such as making your off-hand weapon visible somewhere, but it's pretty difficult to do a query for something this specific and, needless to say, I couldn't find anything. Does anyone know if something like this has been made? I think it would be a quick and interesting thing for someone to do.
