Hakuouki

Been looking around to answer some questions, and found some but not really definitive. Are texture/mesh replacers bannable? Assuming yes, can a save file, having used a mod to replace the mesh and texture of an existing armor, continue as is after removing said mod? Or would I have to overwrite with a clean backup save? If it isn't obvious, I haven't modded any fromsoft game before.
