i know that Boss is wrong, been keeping up to date with all that. http://snag.gy/s9Ncf.jpg and http://snag.gy/VlOGw.jpg. im just trying to figure the fps/lag drop on the Bethesda loading screen, and why i cant change any settings on immersive armors via mcm. on the IA page, i read the requirements, aswell. what'd be the problems with that? i also dont know how to post the BOSS log, so i just screenshotted what was important on the log itself... i already knew BOSS was wrong, due to reading IA almost constantly, before V7 was released, and after it got released...

hey, ive been installing mods most the afternoon, then i thiink to myself "why not install immersive armors (v7.1)", so i installed it ran the game, got an fps drop, then crash. i ran boss, and it said that immersive armors needs spike.esm. how do i get immersive armors to work without spike.esm, if thats possible? when i managed to get the game, and mod working, i looked at its mcm menu, but couldnt change any of the options in immersive armors menu via mcm, as each of the options in immersive armors' mcm menu were its coverart. my game is on steam, up to date and has all the dlc. thanks in advance

alright, i dont know what the actual model name is, just looked at the box, thinking that was the model name. would a photo of it help determine what model it is? about the sound thing, im just a little paranoid that something might explode on the laptop. didnt know the a10-4600m thing was newish. what does the antivirus have to do with it? the antivirus i use is norton 360, but i plan on changing that very soon. The sound is likely related to shutting down, when things start overheating the board shuts the machine down by flushing RAM, sending termination signals for forced component poweroff and finally initiating full system powerdown by shutting the board down (imagine that serial execution in a matter of milliseconds). The pop sound is very likely the hard drive head being forced into lock position by a termination signal, if you ever powered down a PC by holding the power button you may have noticed how there's a loud click once it actually powers down, the same principle of poweroff works for thermal shutdown as well since it's designed to protect components, not just cut power to them. By the way, you're telling someone who doesn't know what part of a PC is what to flash the BIOS? You nuts? @mase18 DO NOT flash the BIOS, you may as well brick the machine if you don't know precisely what you're doing and you're 100% sure you want to do it. BIOS is a firmware interface that makes the software communicate with hardware, updating it is not like updating a program where you can reinstall if things go wrong. Gigabyte desktop motherboards have dual-BIOS so they can recover from a failed flashing, some others also have failsafes but most motherboards don't. Put simply - if the flashing fails your laptop becomes an expensive paperweight. As for the shutdown problem, it wouldn't surprise me if the result is heat, those mobile Trinity APUs can sometimes get so hot the laptop's plastic case starts deforming on cheaper laptop models. Since Warcraft 3 doesn't trigger a shutdown, try monitoring temps using HWMonitor when running the game (just open it, minimize it, and let it run while you play). Play the game for an hour or so and then just take a screenshot of HWMonitor and post it here. WC3 isn't a CPU-intensive game, nor GPU-intensive game, I play it on ultra on a 7 years old laptop with Centrino Duo 1.73GHz and Intel 945GM graphics and that explains why it doesn't trigger a thermal shutdown. But the temps reached in WC3 can be translated to temps reached in other games as well, if the temps running WC3 are high then it's a given that a more demanding game will drive one of the components to it's thermal limit. Then it's just a matter of figuring out what component is overheating. The only other option I can think of that will power a PC/laptop down like that with a pop is a motherboard power delivery system failure (a popped VRM), that would just shut the machine down without a BSOD, anything else like CPU/RAM/HDD failure would result in a kernel panic. But then you wouldn't turn it on anymore once it shuts down. ah, didnt know that warcraft 3 isnt a CPU intensive game. i havent clicked the links since i really dont want to brick the laptop. what's a BIOS? i havent heard of it before. The sound is likely related to shutting down, when things start overheating the board shuts the machine down by flushing RAM, sending termination signals for forced component poweroff and finally initiating full system powerdown by shutting the board down (imagine that serial execution in a matter of milliseconds). By the way, you're telling someone who doesn't know what part of a PC is what to flash the BIOS? Gigabyte desktop motherboards have dual-BIOS so they can recover from a failed flashing, some others also have failsafes but most motherboards don't. Put simply - if the flashing fails your laptop becomes an expensive paperweight. All I meant by saying it wasn't related was that the sound wasn't causing the problem, I worded it poorly. Flashing the BIOS is really not hard, but perhaps I had too much faith in humanity to assume he would actually Google it and not just click a bunch of buttons. He may need to flash the BIOS, but that can be revisited if nothing else works at least. i havent flashed the BIOS, since i dont know what its, or what it does... also, have you heard of a game called ANNO 2070? i get frequent shut downs when playing it (between 20 mins and an hour). oddly enough, i played for an and a half, and the laptop didnt shut down. do you know if its a CPU and GPU intensive game? i think it is, but im not sure...

alright, i think the model name is ENVY dv6-7204ax. the company that made it was HP. the popping sound doesnt sound like the speakers, more like something on the bottom, not keyboard side. would the sound need to do with it overheating? also, the laptop has something called AMD Quadcore A10-4600m accelerated processor. whats that? the reason why i ask so many questions is that im not very good with computers. been a console gamer for a long time, still am. used to play on pc, before the ps1 was released, then when the ps1 was released, consoles up till now. now varying between pc and console...

hey  first, i used to game on my laptop (prebuilt laptop), and ive had it for almost a year, and it had Windows 8 on it to start off and i could play some games, but sadly not skyrim with mods. i downgraded it to Windows 7, and i could play games, including skyrim with mods, but only briefly like a few weeks. then somewhere between the time i could play games on it, and when problems came up, i couldn't play any games whatsoever, modded games, non modded games, doesnt matter, no games play at all, except for warcraft 3 and warcraft 3 the frozen throne, oddly enough. i have taken the laptop to a computer place to see what the problem was (i went there to get a new laptop charger, because the second charger was broken when i got it, so i got a third one), and the guy said it was due to overheating, but im not so sure, because the laptop itself shuts down, like something was blocking the airflow/fan, yet nothing is even near there, but when it shuts down, the laptop battery (i think), makes a popping noise, then shuts down. i dont know why, but want to find out. playing my Xbox 360, PS3, and my 3DS is starting to get extremely boring, and i really want to play some modded PC games... if anyone has, have they encountered this problem before (laptop problem), and fixed it? if so, what did you do to fix it? i was also told, when i got the laptop, that it was a gaming laptop, but when i went to the computer place to fix the laptop charger issue, i was told it wasnt a gaming laptop. i am a little angry about it, too. i would return the laptop, but cant. the shop where i got it from, is now something else, but i know other places where the i got from are. i dont know much about what the specs are, but i'll list what i know: graphics card: AMD Vision A10 with Radeon graphics and duel graphics enabled VRAM: 2 and a half GB RAM: 16 GB thats all i know for PC specs about it... thanks for any help in advance

good CPU and Motherboard? and stuff about cooling
mase18 replied to mase18's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Hmm... do you want to connect a $2k-$3k PC to a $180 monitor?Remember, when gaming, the monitor is what you'll be looking at. Where will it stand and how limited Is your desk space? If it's not too tight, I'd suggest connecting a high-grade 32" LED TV to it. You'll get much higher picture quality if you pick the right model. Junk. Cheap 5.1 adds nothing, even the surround effect loses out to quality 2.0, and you'll get entangled in wires that go everywhere. If it has to be from that store, I'd rather look at these: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=567_602&products_id=11824 The best speakers that store has in stock are these: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=567_895&products_id=18527 Sound cards are already in the builds. Xonar DX has top output quality and Xonar DSX is negligibly less refined, but you'll need real speakers to notice, not plastic junk. Creatives ever since x-fi aren't any good. For cheap speakers like the ones you've picked, a sound card is not needed at all, your motherboard already has one on board. Actually, you only really need a sound card if you go with the last speakers on the list here (Audioengine 5). Mice and keyboards are personal preference. That said, I think the ones you picked are "all hat, no cattle". There's a lot of bling, but the keyboard will probably be uncomfortable to use and in half a year one of the little plastic clips used for its "modular" system will break off and void the warranty for when it finally breaks down for real. The LCD screen has maybe 1 or 2 games supporting it. The mouse contains obsolete hardware inside. Like 6 years obsolete. It's not even worth looking at. Considering you want gaming models, and probably aren't yet at the point to go mechanical, I'd suggest this keyboard: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=113_999&products_id=19562 If you REALLY MUST have bling, this: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=113_999&products_id=23433 But for that price you could get a mechanical. For mouse, one of these two is best: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=258_697_1236&products_id=20818 http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=258_697_1236&products_id=24378 If you want a big fat mouse with a lot of buttons: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=258_697_701&products_id=21066 But it won't be as comfortable in shooters; these are for slow MMO and strategy games. There's nothing ultimate about Win 7 Ultimate. Unless you need to change its language (why?), Windows 7 Home Premium is the exact same thing. The only missing features are relevant to corporate networks, not to home use. I've already picked sound cards, SSDs, and a case. They are already in the builds I posted, no need to look. Case-wise.... it will work. That said, Antec P280 that I picked supports large motherboards, water cooling, multiple video cards, has sound insulation, and is really well built. In short, it's much better. You may think that Aerocool case looks impressive, but it really doesn't, it's just red plastic all over a cheap tin can. Another good case is Fractal Define XL R2, but it's on preorder: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25_1055&products_id=22869 Between it and Antec, I'd pick the Fractal, but then Antec is cheaper and the difference is very small. alright, ill ask any questions on computer parts when i need too, as well as post final selection sometime soon. i dont follow, what's bad about hooking up a $180 moniter to a $2000 - $3000? how are these the best speakers:http:http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=567_895&products_id=18527? alright, the keyboard doesnt matter at the moment, but i have this keyboard in mind:http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=113_1566&products_id=23009 with the mouse, how can you tell its using obsolete hardware? mouse doesnt matter at the moment, too. it can wait. alright, thanks for the help Fmod :) . i'll pm any questions that arise, if any arise. -
good CPU and Motherboard? and stuff about cooling
mase18 replied to mase18's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Not at all. Intel doesn't make motherboards (not any worthwhile ones), AMD and Nvidia are ~match for video cards, and AMD CPU won't fit Intel boards. Water cooling is dangerous because water+electronics=damage. All right, so I'll assume that your budget is 1500-4000 and less is better, and try to make two builds. It will have a much better video card, while at that. The one you mentioned is pretty trashy. Build 1 - about as good as it gets: PC Case Gear - Shared Shopping Cart 1 x Intel Core i7 4770 - $349.00ea 1 x ASUS Z87-A Motherboard - $199.00ea 1 x G.Skill Ripjaws Z F3-2133C11D-16GZL (2x8GB) 16GB DDR3 - $209.00ea 1 x Seasonic XP-760 Platinum 760W Power Supply V2 - $239.00ea 1 x Crucial M500 480GB SSD - $385.00ea 1 x MSI GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB - $819.00ea 1 x Antec P280 Black Super Mid Tower - $145.00ea 1 x Corsair Hydro Series H100i CPU Cooler - $149.00ea 1 x ASUS Xonar DX - $85.00ea 1 x Toshiba DT01ACA300 3TB 7200RPM - $139.00ea Total: $2,718.00 - @pccasegear.com 08/01/2014 This assumes you already have a monitor or TV, speakers, keyboard and mouse, or will pick them to preference. Build 2 - less crazy and more reasonable: PC Case Gear - Shared Shopping Cart 1 x Antec P280 Black Super Mid Tower - $145.00ea 1 x G.Skill Ares F3-2133C9D-8GAB 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 - $115.01ea 1 x ASUS GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II OC 3GB - $649.00ea 1 x Intel Core i5 4670 - $245.00ea 1 x ASUS Z87-C Motherboard - $155.00ea 1 x Antec Kuhler H2O 650 Liquid CPU Cooler - $89.00ea 1 x Antec EA-550 Platinum Power Supply - $125.00ea 1 x Samsung 840 EVO Series 250GB SSD - $189.00ea 1 x Toshiba DT01ACA300 3TB 7200RPM - $139.00ea 1 x ASUS Xonar DSX - $52.00ea Total: $1,903.01 - @pccasegear.com 08/01/2014 The 2nd build will come very close to the 1st one, to the point that you're not likely to ever notice. You can mix and match, i.e. arbitrarily put parts from one build into another, it's all compatible. alright, didnt think of doing either of those builds. i do have a moniter in mind: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=558_1092&products_id=25227 speakers in mind is this one: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=567_569&products_id=15759 keyboard is this one: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=113_1469&products_id=22913 the mouse, im not sure if i want to get one yet. right now, im using the razer ouroboros mouse, which is good. im on the loookout for mice with buttons on the left side, but cant find any i like, but ive got this in mind: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=258_697_1154&products_id=24867 with speakers, would that need a sound card? if so, ive got this in mind: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=211&products_id=22847 the OS is going to be Windows 7 ultimate, but might change that to professianal or home premium, but not sure yet. im also looking at SSD's to install the OS, but not sure if thats a good idea... and i was looking at cases, and found this one: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25_1287&products_id=24959 but something is tells me its a bad idea to buy that case... -
good CPU and Motherboard? and stuff about cooling
mase18 replied to mase18's topic in Hardware and software discussion
alright. firstly, id like to do a cheaper build ($1500 - $2000 AUD), but thats A) difficult to do, because then id need to go bad with the graphics card ( the one i have in mind is a Nvidea EVGA Geforce GTX 760 FTW ACX 4GB, which is $409 AUD) or B) next to impossible to do due to how computer parts are priced here in Australia... i also dont know what is compatible with what, im a computer noob. i generally go for whats good, but affordable... why is water cooling not for begginers? is it difficult to work with/ install into a computer case? from what ive heard, read around the net, Nvidea is good for graphics cards, Intel is good for a Motherboard and AMD for CPU? i dont know, but is that true? as i said, im a computer noob, so i dont understand everything about computers. im only used to using prebuilt laptops. bad idea, i know, but im a tiny bit scared of making my own desktop, too. i dont know why, just am... but how can a computer be made for a lot less from the parts? i also have no experience in making own desktops... ive also looked at SSD's, so i can install the OS onto it. would that make it a bit more pricey, or does it depend on the case? if it has SSD mounts already, or has slots to install an SSD mount? -
good CPU and Motherboard? and stuff about cooling
mase18 replied to mase18's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Let's be clear: 1. What is your purpose for the PC? 2. What does "got almost everything" mean? As in you have old parts, or you already picked something, or what? 1. the purpose for the PC is for gaming. im on a gaming laptop, that does and doesnt want to play games ATM. i want something a bit more stable (the laptop shuts down after an hour of gaming on any game i try to play (managed to get a blue screen when playing Divinity:Dragon Commander). 2. ive decided what parts to go with (nothing has been determined, and havent bought anything yet). ...There's no water in computers that needs to be cooled, it's CPU cooling that water is used for. An all-in-one kit is probably all right just because. oh, ok. what about system water cooling? ive heard of that, as well as CPU water cooling. im not sure what they are. im really bad when it comes to anything that comes to computers... This doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Why? Also, the board might not work with that CPU out of the box. how doesnt this make a whole lot of sense? i know that, that the CPU might be incompatible with the motherboard, and im open suggestions on what are good CPU's and motherboards that are compatible... -
good CPU and Motherboard? and stuff about cooling
mase18 replied to mase18's topic in Hardware and software discussion
well, i was looking at a budget of $1500 Australian dollars, but then that went out the window, so around $3000, but less than $4000. ive got almost everything, discounting the CPU, Motherboard, cooler and all the misc wiring. im not looking to make it till later this year, maybe. need the money first :P so go for an AMD CPU, and an Intel Motherboard? -
hey  im going through PC parts, making a list, so i can make my own desktop (first one ), and wondering whats a good CPU and Motherboard. i live in Australia, so i cant buy from sites, like newegg ( because they only ship within the U.S, and to Puerto Rico, as well as to APO/FPO addresses only). im using an Australian site called PCCaseGear. im open to suggestions to other sites that ship to Australia. so, yeah, whats a good CPU and Motherboard? for CPU, im thinking of an Intel core i7 4820k. for Motherboard, im thinking of an ASUS P9X79-WS Motherboard (Intel Socket 2011) with the cooling, im thinking of water cooling, but dont know what you would need. theres also CPU cooling, but dont understand that. any help? so, yeah, whats a good CPU and Motherboard? i havent bought anything for it yet, just been doing the math for it. im also bad when it comes to computers (dont know whats good, whats bad. i know next to nothing about them, or how to make them, but i can figure it out) thanks in advance

yeah, i do use SKSE. im also using an older version of ENBoost (version 4), but with the latest ENB binaries. could that cause any problems? where are the papyrus logs located? ive never really seen the point to looking at them, but that was on my old laptop, and didnt do an actual playthrough... im trying to do an actual playthrough, with mods on my new laptop (new on is gaming laptop, old one wasnt a gaming laptop). EDIT: discount civil war overhaul, ive uninstalled it. see if that does anything/fixes these issues. heres the mod list: http://snag.gy/HTVMf.jpg http://snag.gy/wRufO.jpg http://snag.gy/Tdrsu.jpg http://snag.gy/vniHE.jpg http://snag.gy/V1qUn.jpg plus immersive armors and immersive weapons, and ENBoost. how would i link the BOSS log, making it visible, without using snaggy, imgur, etc etc? or is that the only way to do it?

hey  ive got a few problems with the vanilla intro. i dont know if its mod related, script issues, or what... im not even sure what i did, either... heres the problems: 1. when i start a new game ( im using vanilla intro), tullius gets off his horse, kills some wolves, and doesnt get back on the horse to follow/take the lead so helgan opens the gates. also, lokir, flies off the cart your on and dies, but the conversation between him and ralof continues, but no lokir dialogue (due to him dieing and flying off the cart your on). 2. as mentioned above, but the lokir part only, and the cart your on just continues going forward, just before you make your character, up the wall. ive had this issue before, but dont remember what i did to fix it. 3. get into helgan is fine, but the imperial captin doesnt appear, and hadvar doesnt get off his horse ( he just stays on his horse, following the cart your on...), so cant make character... image to the tullius problem: http://snag.gy/5kgBB.jpg im also getting massive stuttering, and i think FPS drops (cant confirm fps drops, but can confirm stuttering)... so, is it script issues/script jumping? everything just running, then clashing, causing issues? ill upload more images of the problems and the mods i use later... ive also verified with steam, and the problems are persisting. so maybe its in the papyrus log? i honsetly dont know what to do, and losing patience ( havent played modded skyrim since somewhere around between march to june... :ermm: ) so, yeah, any ideas? and yes, my skyrim is up to date, on steam, and with all the dlcs. thanks for the help
-
hey  just wondering, but is ENBoost in the latest ENB binaries? i dont know because i cant find anything on it, but ive heard that it is already with the latest version of the ENB binaries, so theres no need for ENBoost... is it true? the reason im asking is because i want to play skyrim again, but cant, because, with ENBoost installed, SKSE installed, and no mods, im getting massive fps drops to the point of unplayability (17 - 20 fps on the Bethesda loading screen, which is odd (ENBoost is installed) compared to 58 - 60 fps (ENBoost is not installed), and in game, im getting somewhere between 0 - 30 fps with ENBoost installed (some areas are getting 5 - 8 fps), but i dont know what my fps is with ENBoost not installed.) so yeah, anyone know? also, my game is on steam, up to date and with all dlc i also have 2 and a half GB of VRAM, so could that cause the fps issues? thanks
-
hey  the problem i have with ENBoost is that im getting massive frame drops, and lots of stuttering. normally, when i play vanilla, i get somewhere between 40 - 50 FPS, and in the odd location, between 30 - 40 fps. and that is without ENBoos installed, even though i got that framerate before these problems. now, when i launch skyrim with ENBoost and SKSE active, i get 17 - 20 fps on the Bethesda loading screen, which isnt normal, then in game, my framerate is all over the place, jumping from 30 to 8 to 20 etc etc fps. when i go and uninstall ENBoost, ENB series, and SKSE, my framerate is back to normal. when i go and reinstall SKSE, fps stays the same... i've also watched Gophers video's on how to install ENBoost, and SKSE. so im wondering, how do you install ENBoost, if you're not using another mod that uses the D3D9.DLL? i also had out of date ENB binaries, which i think may have been the problem. ive got an odd number of VRAM (2560MB/2 and a half GB), and dont know which option to go with ( the 2gb/3gb version of ENBoost). my game is on steam, up to date and with all DLC thanks for the help
