  1. Like the others have said above, you're only (probable) issue is trying to use 4K graphics at 1440 with only 4GB of VRAM. Go for 2K graphics where possible and test as mentioned above. A good test ground (after starting with LAL) is to go straight to Morthal, enter the Jarl's house, accept the quest and then try to step back outside. This particular area, with that quest active, is (graphics) memory intensive for some reason. If you don't freeze up or crash there, you're probably good to go with those mods.
  2. There's nothing "bad" about that. Your work is just different in execution. Feels more like a professionally done comic book. Thanks for the link to your tutorial. Kudo given.
  3. I knew it! Busts are always to blame! Sorry, sorry, I just couldn't resist... EDIT: Also, I was just able to log-in on my NMM as of 4:10pm EST, so I guess the issue is fixed now?
  4. LOL, Balgruuf face down drunk and Celia dragging the giant up the stairs. That's amazing positioning and screencapping. Thanks for sharing!
  5. But, I WANT others to post their funny screenshots here. So please do! The poll is just for me to gauge interest.
  6. About Hoth. While Hothtrooper44 has made it clear that he doesn't want anyone to port Hoth without his permission, he DID say you can do what you want with him in your own game. So, I guess I'll finally have to learn how the CK works so I can port him for my personal use.
  7. Hey there everyone! Sorry about not updating with new funnies for awhile. Had a problem with someone called "Irma" recently. Hmmm, only two points in the positive at the moment. Okay, here's a few more: When someone insists on posting on a thread that was buried five years ago, here's what you need. http://i975.photobucket.com/albums/ae239/CON-Troll/thread-necromancy.png Full disclosure: Not my image. 8. I'll bet at least one of those updates was in response to the CC going up for SE. If so, that shows they're watching closely and reacting quickly to game updates. Very encouraging.
  9. (Imitating Pete Hines voice): "But, but, that would make SENSE! (And less money for us...)" On the (possibly) bright-side, I just got notified by someone here (who I implicitly trust) that CC will no longer FORCE files onto your PC's hard drive. I haven't confirmed it yet (can anyone else chime in with solid info?) but I will try to ASAP. If this is true, that's great. And it knocks down one of the major gripes I had about the CC. I wonder if this is also true for consoles. Would be fantastic for them if so. No longer would they have to worry about their limited drive space being filled up with files they don't want. EDIT: Okay, here's Bethesda responding to the subject of files being forced onto hard drives in connection with CC. In particular, the update at the end pretty well spells it out. Quote: Why do the Creation Club assets download for everyone? [uPDATED] This was a requirement for some platforms and how Creation Club needed to work. Most other games that offer similar content do the same. We realize this is a frustration point for players and we are working on a solution to change the way this functions. On the PC, this will not happen with Skyrim Special Edition, and has been patched for future releases on Fallout 4. Unquote. So, unless something changes drastically, that pretty well ends the "OMG, this is gonna clog up my drive!" worry for PC users. But I'll still leave that option in the poll until (and if) Bethesda assures us that console users also won't get the files shoved onto their drive.
  10. This is stale information the clickbaiters on Youtube have not bothered to correct (gee, wonder why). CC does not download any files to SSE that are not wanted. Nor does Fallout 4 after its last patch. Whoah, really!? Anyone else told me this, I would ignore them. But you know your $#!%, so I'll take your word on it. And thanks! That's great news. Wish I could give you a second kudo. Yeah, I should of researched this more thoroughly recently. Sorry, been cleaning up after Irma rolled through. EDIT: Okay, here's Bethesda responding to the subject of files being forced onto hard drives in connection with CC. In particular, the update at the end pretty well spells it out. Although I can see your point about calling them "clickbaiters" when I listen to all the snark.
  11. Good one. Thanks for pointing that mod out. I'd also suggest using "Move it - Dammit! SE" along with that one. Especially if you have more than one follower with you.
  12. I doubt this will affect the PC modding scene for future games to any great extent. I could be very wrong though. Hope I'm not. CC will probably end up being a huge money-maker for Bethesda where console users are concerned. The majority of PC users will ignore it. Unless it gets really, really better in the near future. I DO feel confident that Bethesda realizes that. Whether Zenimax's BoD does is anyone's guess. So, CC is most likely here to stay for console users, while PC users will mostly stick to free mods. The only thing I worry about is whether there will be a CK for TES6. CK was (IMO) created to make mods more prevalent so that the game would stay relevant longer (and sell more copies.) This strategy obviously worked incredibly well given how many years Skyrim, Oblivion and even Morrowind kept selling copies. And still do to this day. So, logically, I suppose a CK for TES6 is still likely.
  13. Thank you, Arthmoor. I'd been on the fence about "shielding" my SE against the upcoming update. You make an excellent point. I'll probably just let it happen now. Mind you, I still HATE the Craptation Club for forcing files onto my drive that I will likely never use. But, in the end I can always simply uninstall and walk away from SE. Like someone else said here in the forums, I've already got over a thousand hours out of this game so it's not like I didn't get my money's worth.
  14. It LOOKS like if you get Survival Mode in the "free" period, you get to keep it for free afterwards. But I agree, the wording is vague enough to allow Bethesda to say: "No, we only meant it was free for a week." But I'll stick to Frostfall and other, established free mods. Oh, and for those who try to get it afterwards, notice how they "priced" it at 800 credits, but you have to buy the 1500 credit level (for $14.99) to get it since the next level down is only 750 credits. Unless you saved your free 100 credits, that means Bethesda is effectively getting $15 for Survival Mode, not $8. Tell me that wasn't done deliberately when they set the credit cost.
  15. Well, some commenters in the post section of "Fires Hurt" have said that the mod works for them in SE without having to do any conversions. Haven't tried it myself. Best bet would likely be to do a manual download and install with NMM. I would recommend trying it on a new save, so that if it doesn't work, you can get rid of it without bollixing your character.
  16. I want to second nightscrawl and cdcooley's advice. While I'm happy for the people that believe they've gotten their alpha SKSE SE to work with mods that need them, you should NOT follow their example unless you're prepared to accept the very high probability that you will wreck your saves. Permanently. I apologize if this sounds cruel, but I'll take the advice of old hands with hundreds to thousands of posts to their record over anyone with only a few dozen ones. Wait for the playable beta to be released. Your save game will thank you for it.
  17. HBM is a newer type of VRAM than GDDR5, but it's still the same physical amount. That is, if you need 4GB of VRAM for whatever game/program, then it doesn't matter whether it's HBM or GDDR5. So, no. You're not getting double the amount of VRAM. However, where HBM differs is in how fast it can move the data from RAM to the GPU's processing (and, I think, vice-versa.) This really speeds up response time and therefore FPS. All other aspects of two cards (one equipped with HBM, the other equipped with GDDR5) being equal, the one equipped with HBM should be more effective in terms of frame-rate and less artifacts.
  18. Lots of other horses out there. Maybe Lynch? Or perhaps Lore Friendly Warhorse? What about Warbound? Or my personal favorite, Blaze of Eventide.
  19. While interesting, even if you were willing to do "text-only" (because recording the potentially hundreds of lines of dialogue in dozens of different voices would be beyond most modder's resources) utilizing a mod like fuz-ro-dah (did I get that right?) it would still probably be wayyyy too big of a mod. And, well, there's also the fact that racism is a sensitive subject. Even though the races in Skyrim aren't real (technically, even Nords aren't "real"), people still tend to get thoroughly involved into such subject matter, even when the focus is a game set in an imaginary world. However, if you aren't already familiar with Inconsequential NPCs, then this mod adds a lot of strife and stigma to daily Skyrim life. For example, with this mod installed, good luck getting into Windhelm without being hassled (or even out-right ejected) by the guards if you aren't a Nord. While visiting the Palace of Kings in Windhelm, I actually got a bit nauseated listening to the thanes at the banquet laughing it up with jokes about Argonians and Khajitts. So, yeah, I hear you. I wanted to walk into Windhelm as an Argonian, walk up to those nasty thanes and FUS-RO-DAH them right into Ulfric's lap.
  20. Cripes, that's a lot of mods! Okay, my money is on one (or more) of the PerkusMaximus plugins. Assuming you use NMM, go to your plug-ins tab and disable all your PerkusMaximus plugins. Obviously, do NOT un-install any of the mods, -or you will thoroughly bollix your game. Anyway, once you've disabled those plug-ins, load up a save where you knew you were about to level up. Play and see if the effect persists. If not, you've now narrowed it down to one (or more) of those plug-ins. You probably have/do the following. But just in case: SKSE, yes? LOOT, yes? TES5Edit, yes?
  21. I'm not seeing any direct mod conflicts there. Not surprising. You'd be crashing at the load screen if that were so. Okay, let's try basic troubleshooting. Do you have SKSE? If not, get it. Many of your mods require it to function correctly. However, you probably have that already. Just checking. Do you use TES5Edit? If not, get. Use it. It might identify problems for you. Here's a basic troubleshooting guide for general issues: 1) Mod Conflicts. If your Skyrim crashes to the destop (CTD) the moment the loading screen appears, it is very likely you have a mod conflict. Add only one or two mods at a time (and test them) to avoid having to plow through dozens of mods trying to find the one that's causing your game to crash. Also, RTFM. Mod authors WILL tell you what other mods (and/or types of mods) that their mod conflicts with. But that doesn't do you any good if you don't read that info before installing. Sometimes a patch is available to prevent a ctd from happening (or to prevent the mod from conflicting in some other way, like overwriting some scenery and causing weird in-game effects like floating trees and Mammoths raining from the sky. (Yes, that happens.) 2) Overwrites. When NMM installs mods, it will often stop and ask you a question like: "Do you want this mod to install (whatever) over (whatever) that already exists due to (whatever)? with about eight different options. Again, many mod authors will tell you what options to choose when installing their mod. When those instructions are not present, I've found it is usually best to answer "Yes to all" or the equivalent answer offered. 3) Load Order. Load order is literally the order that the mods are loaded into your game. This is just as important as overwrites. A "poor" load order will cause lots of issues ranging from weird in-game effects to CTDs. You can manually alter your load order in the "Plug-In" tab of NMM, but there's a better way. Download LOOT and install it. Point it at your directory where your mods are and let LOOT sort them. Not only will LOOT give you a better load order, but it will warn you about mods that need "cleaning" of dirty edits in them. And you can do that with TES5Edit. It's quite simple to use. However, be warned that some mods have INTENTIONAL dirty edits. Cleaning those mods will likely break them. How to know? Simple, the mod author will warn you if his/her mod has deliberate dirty edits. 4 SKSE. SKSE is short for "SKyrim Script Extender." Many popular mods use really cool and helpful interfaces like MCM (Mod Control Menus.) These mods require SKSE to function. Download SKSE and watch Gopher's video (linked in the description at the SKSE site) for what SKSE does exactly and how to install it. Don't worry, Gopher explains it clearly and concisely. Now another thing that occurs to me is that you might be having memory issues. Please list your rig's stats. Especially your GPU and how much VRAM it has.
  22. I think you should go with SE for three reasons: 1. 64bit means much more stable. I can go for 20+ hours without crashing even with a heavy mod load. 2. While mods that absolutely require SKSE are currently a no-go with SE, many mod authors have already ported their mods using workarounds (like books or spells) to get past the MCM menus they used to use (that required SKSE to function.) 3. The SKSE team just released an Alpha version of SKSE for SE. This is only for modders to work with at the moment, but is an indicator that a user-beta of SKSE will eventually be available for SE. This will (eventually) result in many player's favorite "Oldrim" mods being ported over (SkyUI, for example) to SE and have full MCM menu availability for those mods. Obviously, however, this will take time. Probably quite a long time. Much as I loved LE (Oldrim plus all DLCs), I just got too sick of the instability. There ARE ways to make LE very stable (the S.T.E.P. guide, for example) but it requires a LOT of work and constant tweaking. If you're willing to put up with that, then maybe LE (if you already have it) is your better bet. At least until SKSE for SE is released and a lot of the most popular mods from LE are ported to take advantage of it. After that, there really is no reason left not to move to SE. (Except, perhaps, compatibility issues with Windows. But these seem to be very rare.) Edited because even with spell-check I suck...
  23. I think wfandrews has the right idea. Just go ahead and play without SKSE until a reliable beta comes out AND most of your favorite mods have been (re)ported, then start a new game. It's still gonna be awhile, so why not enjoy the game for now? Quick tip: SkyUI version 2.2 DOES work in SE without SKSE. There's an annoying error message, but some kind souls have pointed out in the comments how you can get rid of that. The only things lacking are the bells and whistles like auto-sort. Still beats the living crap out that horrible vanilla UI.
  24. LOL! I remember when Schlangster wrote about that possibly happening! Anyway, this is the best news I've had since Irma rolled through my section of Florida. As for the haters and doomsayers, -meh, they'll just find something else to harp about. I'm just delighted to hear the news. A great, big "Thank You" to the SKSE team for this.
  25. Nord, but Khajiit was a very close second for me.
