  1. That's the beauty of Skyrim. With mods, you can get nearly ANY experience you want. I would like to recommend the Leveler's Tower. I don't use it as a home, but rather as a one-stop character secondary creation-point. After I'm done tweaking, I just treat it as (yet another) inaccessible dwemer ruin.

  5. Since this is your first post (welcome to the community by the way) I'm going to presume you're a bit new to the whole modding scene. So here's some general purpose guides to help you out. Here are some things you should consider when you add more than a handful of mods: 1) Mod Conflicts. If your Skyrim crashes to the destop (CTD) the moment the loading screen appears, it is very likely you have a mod conflict. Add only one or two mods at a time (and test them) to avoid having to plow through dozens of mods trying to find the one that's causing your game to crash. Also, RTFM. Mod authors WILL tell you what other mods (and/or types of mods) that their mod conflicts with. But that doesn't do you any good if you don't read that info before installing. Sometimes a patch is available to prevent a ctd from happening (or to prevent the mod from conflicting in some other way, like overwriting some scenery and causing weird in-game effects like floating trees and Mammoths raining from the sky. (Yes, that happens.) 2) Overwrites. When NMM installs mods, it will often stop and ask you a question like: "Do you want this mod to install (whatever) over (whatever) that already exists due to (whatever)? with about eight different options. Again, many mod authors will tell you what options to choose when installing their mod. When those instructions are not present, I've found it is usually best to answer "Yes to all" or the equivalent answer offered. 3) Load Order. Load order is literally the order that the mods are loaded into your game. This is just as important as overwrites. A "poor" load order will cause lots of issues ranging from weird in-game effects to CTDs. You can manually alter your load order in the "Plug-In" tab of NMM, but there's a better way. Download LOOT and install it. Point it at your directory where your mods are and let LOOT sort them. Not only will LOOT give you a better load order, but it will warn you about mods that need "cleaning" of dirty edits in them. And you can do that with TES5Edit. It's quite simple to use. However, be warned that some mods have INTENTIONAL dirty edits. Cleaning those mods will likely break them. How to know? Simple, the mod author will warn you if his/her mod has deliberate dirty edits. 4 SKSE. SKSE is short for "SKyrim Script Extender." Many popular mods use really cool and helpful interfaces like MCM (Mod Control Menus.) These mods require SKSE to function. Download SKSE and watch Gopher's video (linked in the description at the SKSE site) for what SKSE does exactly and how to install it. Don't worry, Gopher explains it clearly and concisely. *********************************************************************************************** Now here's an advanced guide for troubleshooting your game. Don't try to take it in all at once. Just read it a bit at a time and apply what seems appropriate to your issue(s). If any of this guide helps you, give Darstyler a kudo. It's his guide. Here is a list of things you may do to stabilize your game : /// Useful informations : Dangerous mods list. CTDs troubleshooting page on Reddit very usefull informations concerning CTDs... Create a merged patch with Tesedit excluding leveled lists /// Settings / memory : Have you installed the skse patch ? >> memory blocks log. Backup your ini files and delete the files. Skyrim.ini / SkyrimCustom.ini / SkyrimPrefs.ini found in C:\Users\Utilisateur\Documents\My Games\Skyrim then use your vanilla launcher to autodetect and use best settings for your computer. /// Cleaning and correcting potential bugs : Clean your master files to eliminate potential problems.: Gopher's videos cleaning your masterfiles on the Nexus Tesedit page. Start Tes5edit, simply untick everything, (right-click/select none) and add only a tick to the esm/esp you want to check + update.esm, Tesedit knows what to do and will load all the dependencies automatically. - Begin with loading only Skyrim + update, ITM / UDR + save ctrl +s and close. - Then load Skyrim + update + Dawnguard, ITM / UDR + ctrl +s and close. - Then load Skyrim + update + Hearthfire, ITM / UDR + ctrl +s and close. - Then load Skyrim + update + Dragonborn, ITM / UDR + ctrl +s and close. The method above can be used to clean mods. If I'm correct LOOT should tell you which plugin you should clean. You may load all your mods with Tes5edit and use the (right-click in the left pane) apply filter to show conflict losers. Wait till Tes5edit has finished. Caution : don't try to modify anything while using this filter, it's not intended for. In the left pane, Expand the subsections and examine conflicts. Once an entry is expanded to the bottom and selected, the right pane shows which mods modify the entry. The last one on the right is the last loaded in your load order and the conflict winner. Expand the following subsections, depending on where the problems occur. Cells for CTDs inside buildings, grottos, etc... and worldspace for exterior. The goal is to target mods that edit the same places and conflict. Open the bloc note and write those mods. Once done, close Tes5edit and open each mod with Tesedit, one by one and use the UDR cleaning procedure (Gopher's videos cleaning your masterfiles on the Nexus Tesedit page) to ensure all the deleted references will be transformed in disabled references = no CTDs from this point. If you suspect a mod in particular, using the conflict looser / winner method above, you can decide to change its load order or uninstall it. /// Save game : Don't uninstall mods at mid-game, there are no clean save in Skyrim but using save script cleaner can help removing orphan scripts. /// Meshes healer : Read here, this is potentially a cause of CTD that you can resolve by following the mod procedure on this page.
  6. Another advantage to downloading mods manually is that you always have the mods available on your drive so that if a mod author decides to take down their mod (because, oh say, they didn't like who got elected) -you still have it archived on your HD and can re-add it anytime you want.
  7. Realistic Water 2 has been reported to cause some issues ranging from ILS to CTD in a few other threads. In most cases, merely applying one of the listed patches solves the issues. However, your latest problems of CTD probably is arising from reloading your mods and trying to use your original saves. Try a new game (after checking to see if you need to add an appropriate patch for RW2) and see if you have issues.
  8. Ah, there's your biggest problem. Your GPU. The 920m is an integrated graphics chip on your mobo, not a dedicated GPU card. It's not very powerful (relatively low clock speed), has only 2GB of VRAM (DDR3 rather than the more powerful GDDR5 found in dedicated full-sized graphics cards), and is starting to get a little long in the tooth (released in March of 2015.) Some review quotes from Quora... "The 920m is a very low end dedicated graphics card, so it can play games from a few years ago on low or medium." "The GeForce 920M offers a performance similar to the AMD Radeon R7 M260 orR7 M360 and will handle modern games in low settings only" You can review the specs yourself at: http://gpuboss.com/graphics-card/GeForce-920M Check to see if your laptop has an accessible GPU internal slot. If so, research what will work with it. If your laptop cannot accept a dedicated GPU, you're simply going to have to put up with the graphics as is. That IGC simply cannot drive Skyrim SE at anything over medium/low settings. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

  10. Hey, at least the smoke looks good. But yeah, that roof for example, ugh. Well, nightscrawl already covered possible mod conflicts/overrides. So I'll ask you to list your rig's hardware for us. See if something leaps out at us. Be sure to be exact, especially with your GPU stats (VRAM amount, for example.) You use LOOT, right? Longshots: You're NETFrameworks are up-to-date, yes? You've validated your game files (just Skyrim) through Steam, right?

  12. I gotta agree with that. Glad he ported that to SE. I don't use the Leveler's Tower as a home, but as a one-time-only stop to "create" the character I want for a new playthrough. But to each their own. What was this thread originally about? Something concerning the Nexus' ability (or lack thereof) to sort / promote new mods over... - I dunno, "chaff" maybe? Is that the right word to use? 'Course, one man's chaff is another man's gold I guess...

  14. There's lots of folks here that will wax poetic on that subject with lots of suggestions for you if you ask them. I'll just say that there are two main routes to go to getting a new PC. 1) Go to online sellers like NewEgg, Select the parts you want. Have them delivered and then build that sucker. It can be very rewarding to see your creation come to life. However, it can also be very frustrating dealing with all the details of the build and testing (and troubleshooting, and testing, and more troubleshooting, and re-testing) when it fails to boot. There ARE lots (and lots) of on-line guides and videos showing you how to pick parts and even show you step by step how to build a rig, so it won't be guesswork. 2) Go to a big-box retailer (Best Buy or what have you) and buy a rig that's close to what you want, then add a GPU upgrade, maybe more RAM and perhaps an all-in-one water cooler for your CPU. The upside to this (especially if you buy their service plan) is that instead of having to send individual parts back to the manufacturer for repair when something goes belly-up, you can simply take the whole rig to the repair center in the store nearest you. I built my last rig myself (because I'd accumulated a lot of experience over the years) but my next rig will definitely be store-bought with the upgrades I want to tweak it with. It used to be that you could save considerable money by building the rig yourself (and you still can save a little -perhaps as much as 20% if you catch enough parts on sale) -but store bought rigs from the retailers are now getting cheap enough that the convenience factor (especially with on-site repair and maintenance) goes a long way to off-setting the discount of purchasing parts yourself.
  15. Well, Holds is still being developed (in both LE and SE) so we might see compatibility with those mods eventually. Also, Nazenn (who took over from missjennabee) says he will be porting ETaC to SE, but it will be a long, long time coming due to the size of the mod. Honestly, the only thing holding me back from playing SE now is that one of these (or JK's) mods gets finished. Edited because even with a spell checker function I still fail...
  16. I hesitate to mention this, but there is a thread about the pros and cons of joining either side. Be warned, it's over 150 pages long. I prefer the Empire myself. Not because I think they're good, but because they are a better "fit" for the way I think. Also, I can't stand the thought of deposing Jarl Balgruuf. If you decide to go ahead and try the civil war storyline, I recommend a few mods. 1) Alternate Start - Live Another Life (by Arthmoor): Why go through the opening scene yet again? You can start IMMEDIATELY as a soldier of either side. Or, pick another start (like the mercenary biz like you mentioned) then pick up the civil war line at your leisure. 2) Open Civil War (by simtam): Wouldn't it be nice if the civil war in Skyrim wasn't as linear and on-rails as the single player campaign in an old FPS? Well here's a mod that not only lets you pick and set-up battles at cities across the face of Skyrim, but also lets you fight in "strategic" mode utilizing the maps you find in every command center and command tent throughout the war theatre! Beats the living crap out the vanilla war (and then takes it's lunch money and does a tea-bag on it.) It can be a bit complex to wrap your mind around it when you first try it, but you'll never want the vanilla campaign again after you master it. 3) Warzones 2015 - Civil Unrest (by MyGoodEye): And while you're going from one city battle to another, why not fight a few battles en-route? Warzones adds dozens of battlefields (and random encounters) across the face of Skyrim. Best of all, you can control all of the spawns, levels, numbers -everything from the MCM menu included. If your rig can handle it, Warzones will let you participate in battles with over a hundred soldiers fighting onscreen at once. Did I mention it also includes doing wild things like hiring giants to be part of an army? Did I mention it has an expansion that allows ARTILLERY for both sides? 4) Civil War Repairs (by MightyMalts): Tired of the debris still being in Solitude, Whiterun and Windhelm months after the war is finally finished? This mod will let you tidy up the cities affected. The only drawback is that you have to manually enter a few console commands to make it work. But they're documented on the mod, so not really a problem. 5) Civil War Aftermath (by Korodic): After the war is completed, go after those encampments that either enemy side has scattered around Skyrim. With this mod, you can attack them (with a band of followers if you use a follower mod) and then burn their encampments to the ground after they're dead. Not only will the encampment stay wiped out (if you return later, you'll see the former commander hanging from a gibbet) but you'll also be rewarded by the commanding general of your side for your dedication to wiping out "holdouts". Most of these mods have already been ported to SE as well.
  17. I dont think so. Mod Organizer is like a hack and now it gets blocked. The authors of MO need to resolve it to make it compatible with the update when it comes. I feel confident they will work on fixing the problem if it turns out to still be present in the public release build, but I don't believe they will do anything about a test-insider build. I hope I'm wrong about that, though.
  18. It might (MIGHT, I say) be a mod causing Faralda not to be where she is supposed to. I presume you're using NMM. Go to the plugins tab. Disable (NOT un-install, just DISABLE) all mods EXCEPT the DLCs and USLEEP. (You are using USLEEP, right?) Try loading the last save before approaching the College BEFORE you started trying console commands. You'll get a warning about missing content, just ignore it and load in. Approach the College. Is Faralda at the entrance ready to test your worthiness? Then the good news is that you have a mod (or two, or more) that is overriding that scene. The bad news is that it may take you quite awhile to figure which one(s). If it turns out to be a mod you can do without, then you should be able to proceed.   19. Wow, this is really good news. Thanks Charles17, for bringing this to our attention. Hope this build gets polished up for a final patch release. I wonder if so many gamers screamed about the limitation of VRAM in DX9 games that Microsoft felt they HAD to try and fix it. Would certainly be unusual behavior on their part, but most welcome.

  23. Well, somewhat that I suppose. But a lot of it is simply that SE is a lot more stable due to the better memory management. A lot of mods (that don't rely on SKSE) can be processed through the CK and will work just fine in SE. Many of these same mods might have had issues in LE simply because they demanded too much of the 32bit system and/or pushed you over the VRAM limit. This is why a lot of the mod authors have been wiling to port their mods using "workarounds" (like books or spells) to get past the MCM menus (that SKSE provided), because their mods are more stable in SE.
