Starting with the basics, have you: A) LOOTed your mod load order? B) Cleaned with TESVEdit where directed? C) Checked for potential conflicts/overwrites from other mods? (i.e. read all the mod descriptions thoroughly)

New pc for an modded skyrim, will it run?
LeddBate replied to KABreaker's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I'm not sure what you meant by "i7 4ยช". I presume this is an Intel i7 chip you are referring to. I would recommend the i7-4790K @4GHz, if it is within your price range. A gtx960 with 4GB of vram is plenty strong enough to run Skyrim, even with hi-res textures. Don't let anyone talk you into a card with less than 4GB of memory. The upcoming Special Edition of Skyrim will let you run much higher resolution textures, so that 4GB will be very useful. I've never used SLI, so I don't know if doing so with the 9800 is actually any benefit -or even possible. Maybe someone more knowledgeable on SLI could chime in on this. A quick check of the mobo indicates that it only has one pci-e slot for a video card, so I don't see how you can SLI. Unless you were asking which card to use, in which case I recommend the 960. 16GB of RAM is plenty. Your chosen mobo means you will be using DDR3. Nothing wrong with that, just be aware that DDR3 is gradually being replaced by DDR4. So expect prices to begin rising before long. A hard drive is where you may have issues. Loading time issues to be exact. As prices continue to fall on Solid State Drives (SSDs) you should really consider getting one as it is a world of difference on how your games load levels and how your PC responds in general. I recommend a samsung 850 evo 1TB. This will give you plenty of room for all your programs and games. However, if that's too pricey, try to get a 850 evo 500GB for about half the price. This will still give you plenty of room for your operating system and programs, but you will have to limit the number of games you have installed on the SSD at any one time. In either case, a large storage HD (like the 2TB one you mentioned) is a good idea as a 2nd "bulk" storage drive for all your non-program files (videos, music, photos, etc.) The B85 is a decent, budget mobo. Here's a review of it that has important info, -especially when installing the RAM. tl/dr: Yes, looks good except for not having a SSD. If you can put up with the long load-times from a HD, then you have a good potential system. Only other drawback I can see is that the mobo doesn't have room for SLI. -
Do you plan to switch to Skryim remastered/special edition?
LeddBate replied to Crossforge's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Bethesda? FIX things? And ruin their reputation for releasing buggy games? Don't be silly man... What? Are my pants on fire after saying that? No? Well, I guess we're good then... Edit: Now, don't anyone get their knickers in a knot. I'm just having a good joke. ('sides, they DO have that rep you know...) -

SOS: Write-Protect from Hell...
LeddBate replied to Phyabath's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Uhmmmm, then perhaps the OS is corrupted a bit. Might not be allowing admin rights even though you are setting them. Had a similar situation with my win7 six months ago. It got so corrupted that it eventually would not boot. Couldn't find my Microsoft license number so I gave in and upgraded to win10. (This time I bought a non-oem copy so that I can do a full re-install whenever I feel I need to.) Just to clarify, if you haven't already done a complete re-install of your OS, you might have to try that as a last resort. If nothing else works, and nobody else here can help, you could try Geek Squad (or whatever equivalent you have where you live) but that's liable to be expensive. -
D'oh! Yeah, I'm an idiot...

SOS: Write-Protect from Hell...
LeddBate replied to Phyabath's topic in Hardware and software discussion
You say you've formatted. But I'm not certain whether you mean you've formatted the drive with your win7 OS and re-installed (basically, nuked it from orbit.) Have you run a virus scan? Do you have an A/V? I'm not saying you absolutely have a virus, but sudden changes in your read/write access is a possible symptom of malware in your OS. I use Avast and Windows Defender for guarding/prevention and Malwarebytes for troubleshooting. -

I agree. You should be able to add a third choice to your poll that basically says: "I'll try it out, then decide." That's what I would change my vote to. -

Well, his Elder Scrolls Wikia page mentions a bug concerning the Arcwind Point quest. Have you completed that? -
Have you tried checking for updated drivers for your new GPU? I know this is a basic thing, but you've covered all the other bases (that I can determine) so this is all I can think of...

Please help. Can't solve my graphics issues.
LeddBate replied to Darkone924's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. Had to deal with the hurricane down here in Florida. You can use GPU-Z to check your card's functions while you run stress tests (and games) to see if anything weird starts happening. When something is outside parameters (temperature, voltage, etc.) GPU-Z will outline the problem in red. You might have to refer to their pdf file for an explanation or simply google the result(s). But if you can borrow a friend's or relative's GPU, it really is the best way to check. -

Looking for some basic house mods. Know any?
LeddBate replied to Lezepticon's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Welllll, "worldspace" houses do exist -and this Reddit Post has a nice list of them. However, such houses tend to be tough on your frame rate as the game engine (and your GPU) has to render the interior of the house AND any exterior view through windows you can look out. Not all of the houses have view through windows, though. Now if you can put up with a load screen, I would like to suggest the Queen of Houses (and coffee) Elianora. You'll have to page through a bit to find all the houses (she's got five pages worth of mods published) but they are REALLY nice ones. My personal favorite is the Beginner's Shack. Subtle, basic cabin-like house, just like you mentioned. Take a look at her other house mods. I'm sure you'll find one that interests you. -
Skyrim SE and 64 bit, what does it mean
LeddBate replied to l0new0lf331's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
"SkyUI", -yeah, I should have remembered that. We WILL need SKSE too, but you're right about SkyUI for a lot of mods. Unfortunately, schlangster (one of SkyUI's mod authors) has indeed reported that they will not be updating the mod. He did mention that he would not object to someone(s) else updating the mod, but that would take someone stepping forward with good modding chops. I certainly don't have them. So, yeah -either other mods have to work around SkyUI or hope that someone DOES decide to tackle that update. I agree that it is highly speculative, but I still believe that a LOT (as in a majority) of the mod authors of the top 200+ rated mods WILL update their mods. I don't have proof of this, but I do think it will happen. (Although the ones that rely on SkyUI will obviously have a lot more work to make them function.) And I believe that many of those mods will be updated within 3 to 6 months of SKSE (and SkyUI) being re-released. I may be in for some disappointment (in terms of how long we have to wait and how many of the popular mods get updated) and I'll be the first to admit that I may be feeling too positive about this subject. But I still think it's going to happen. As for the plug-in limit, I thought that THIS 64-bit engine was a bit different from FO4 in this regard. But I'm not certain. Anyone here with specific info on the SE of Skyrim vs. FO4 regarding plug-in limits? Can you quote any sources?- 18 replies

CTD when saving and exiting or entering
LeddBate replied to Byefelicia's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Well, un-installing mods during a playthrough is never a good idea. But since you mentioned that you've already deleted your saves, nevermind. Just don't un-install mods unless the mod absolutely assures you that it won't affect your game saves. I'm assuming that you have the Legendary version of the game. I don't see USLEEP in your load order. It isn't a magic fix-all panacea, but it does address a multitude of issues in Skyrim. Try a new install with that added. If that doesn't work, post your rig's stats (especially your GPU) to see if something leaps out at us in relation to your mods. -
Have you tried verifying your game cache through Steam? Do you have just vanilla Skyrim? Or do you have one or more of the DLCs? Or the (all-in-one) Legendary edition? If you have the Legendary edition, add the Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch. It covers a multitude of issues with Skyrim and just might do the trick for you. If you have the non-legendary edition of Skyrim and no DLC (or just one or two of them) then the other Unofficial Patches are still available from the USLEEP page. Of course, in just a few weeks we will all get the special edition of Skyrim. That might solve your issue if all else fails. Besides, I can't think of any reasons NOT to upgrade. Wait, just thought of one. If you're still rocking a 32-bit OS, then you're kinda stuck...

Skyrim SE and 64 bit, what does it mean
LeddBate replied to l0new0lf331's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
But, the more texture heavy (or perhaps I should say, higher resolution like 2k and 4k) mods you have, the more VRAM they consume, right? So a GPU with more memory buffer can have more -and higher resolution, mods installed without the player running out of VRAM. Admittedly, I probably muddied the water by mentioning the plug-in limit.- 18 replies

Go With Ralof in Helgen But Side With Imperials?
LeddBate replied to heythereadventurer's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Really? I honestly never noticed that. I DO know that if you go with Ralof, you get the chance to kill that b**** Captain that tells Hadvar to "Forget the list, he goes to the block." Very, very satisfying I will (somewhat embarrassingly) admit. @heythereadventurer: You're welcome! -
Will Skyrim mods work on the new Skyrim SE?
LeddBate replied to Murielkai's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Some will. I'll leave other, more knowledgeable players to comment on the nuts-and-bolts of why some will and others won't. Basically, mods that require SKSE to work (mainly because they use MCM) will probably not work correctly with the new engine. The good news is that the majority of mods CAN be made to work with the 64-bit engine. Basically, most (though not all) mods that uses an MCM menu will be waiting on the Silverlock team to release an updated SKSE for the engine. I feel confident that they will put it out as soon as possible. When that happens, most authors of mods that require SKSE to function correctly will start updating their mods and post new files in their download sections labeled something like "Version xx.x 64-bit." The really OC, err, I meant "tidy" authors will probably re-label their older files as "32-bit." How long this process will take, I don't know. But I think we'll start seeing mods being (re)released rather quickly once the updated SKSE is released. -
Skyrim SE and 64 bit, what does it mean
LeddBate replied to l0new0lf331's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
You are right. Switching to 64-bit WILL make the game more stable (mostly by allowing more RAM to be used.) In addition to this, GPUs with more than 4GB of VRAM will now really pay-off for their users (TRON reference!!) as you will now be able to blow right past the old mod limit (256 plug-ins, if I remember correctly) and get the most out of your texture-heavy mods. Also, you won't have to bash together mods in a patch to keep under the old 256 plug-in limit. This will also contribute to stability. The engine itself is reputed to have ENB-like effects baked right in. Thus, the "new-vanilla" Skyrim will look like it is already visually modded right out of the box. (Errr, not that the new edition comes in a box, but.... -C'mon, you know what I meant.) What you should be REALLY looking forward to is when the Silverlock team gets their hands on the new engine and releases an updated SKSE. Right after that happens, you can expect to see a lot of mod authors start updating their mods through the CK to work for the new 64-bit version along with SKSE so that we get the new, prettier and more stable game along with all the awesome MCM equipped mods we've been using with the old 32-bit engine. How much more stable will the new engine be in "real-world" terms? I don't know. But I do know this: We're all gonna start finding out in just a few weeks!- 18 replies

Go With Ralof in Helgen But Side With Imperials?
LeddBate replied to heythereadventurer's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
You can change sides, even in the Civil War questine, up until the Jagged Crown quest. At that point, you have the choice to take the crown to either Tullius OR Ulfric -no matter which side you've been supporting up till then. Once you deliver the crown to one of them, you've "burned your bridges" with the other side and cannot rejoin them. So, for example, you could leave with Ralof, interact with him and his family in Riverwood and even interact with Hadvar's family (but not with Hadvar.) Then you could join the Empire. You'll see Hadvar (especially during the Jagged Crown quest) but because you didn't leave with him at Helgen, he'll act more neutral and aloof. I don't believe you'll meet Ralof during the Jagged Crown quest while you're sided with the Imperials. I don't remember him being there when I did this, but I could be wrong. Anyway, once you've got the crown, you could then (if you wish) switch sides one more time, taking the crown to Ulfric instead of Tullius. I believe you could name-drop Ralof while talking to Ulfric right after giving him the crown, but I don't believe Ralof himself will be there. I've always left with Ralof, then joined the Imperials later. But I've never tried turn-coating during the Jagged Crown quest, so I'm not absolutely sure about that. -
what to do when skyrim crashes after bethesda logo
LeddBate replied to closingspy14111's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
If some of your mods are missing, then you're probably crashing because some patch or other mod is looking for a master from one of the "missing" ones and when it doesn't find it, crash. Troubleshooting: 1. Verify your game cache through Steam. 2. Open your NMM and check to make sure all plug-ins are checked. Look for obvious conflicts. (e.g. You see a patch that refers to one of the "missing" mods you mentioned.) 3. Still crashing? Uncheck all of your plug-ins except the basic game, the DLCs and the unofficial patches (or the unofficial Legendary patch if you have the Legendary version.) Now load in to your game. You'll get a warning about missing content, but you should be able to load in. If so, re-check a dozen of your plug-ins. Make sure that any necessary patches for those plug-ins are also checked. Load in again. No crash? Keep repeating until you crash. NOW you know (down to a dozen mods or less) where the problem is located. Re-enable only one mod (and any needed patches) at a time until you crash. Now read that mod's description to find out what is missing. 4. Couldn't load into a save using (3) above? Try starting a new game with all mods enabled. No crash? You may have corrupted saves. Crash? Possibly a combination of mod conflicts and corrupted saves. If so, you may have to bite the bullet and start a new game with a new (fresh) load order. Other Troubleshooting: Do you use LOOT? Do you clean with TESVEdit5? Warning: Some mods have intentional dirty edits and cleaning them will break the mod. Read each mod's description thoroughly before cleaning. -
Regretfully, I have no experience with Mod Organizer. I only use NMM and (occasionally) manual installs. Therefore, my first recommendation would be to LOOT your load order and clean with TESVEdit as directed. Note that some mods have intentional "dirty" edits and cleaning them will break the mod. Be sure to read EACH mod's description thoroughly before cleaning with TESVEdit. Also, many users and mod-makers consider Bethesda's high-res texture packs to be too demanding of your VRAM for what they do. You already have SMIM and Amidianborn -so I'd ditch those texture packs. Can someone experienced with MO jump in here and comment please?

You didn't mention your PSU. With a R9 380 (a notorious power hog), you need a minimum-rated PSU of 600 watts. 650 would be safer. Is it at least bronze-rated? What is the brand-name? A cheap, low-powered, no-name PSU is a disaster waiting to happen.
