Many years ago, when I changed from my original email provider to gmail (due to my original email getting hacked) I ran into a similar problem in that I could not change my account info over to my new email because steam kept sending the instructions on how to do so to my OLD email. I ended up having to set up another steam service account, then got in an email conversation with a Valve employee that took place over several days. (The average wait was about 15 hours between emails. -But I was just as guilty on that count. RL, ya know...) Anyway, once I explained the loop I was stuck in, the employee asked me to email him details on my last several purchases on steam (games bought, when and what price, and my payment type.) This was sufficient enough proof for them to manually change my email on my account to stop the looping and get me going again. Might be too late to be of assistance for you now, but hopefully helpful sometime in the future.

I hope so! (Going to check now...) Nope, but here's a discussion about other mods that get close to that...

I'm posting this just in case anyone else has a similar problem to Mr_SpongeWorthy or myself. Hopefully this might help you. First, good news. My account was not stolen. After asking lots of questions, I got a tip from the steam forums that anyone caught up in the caching glitch (which apparently I was) might have had their password altered, -or that the servers could no longer match up the account with the proper password. (What the difference between those two is escapes me...) Anyway, the solution was to open my steam service account (a separate steam account you set up for troubleshooting your main account) and then simply following the steps to change your password. First, you'll be asked to input a code from your mobile device (two-step does work well in this case), then you change your password and re-login on your steam client. Worked immediately for me. So, if you're having issues logging in, or getting your steam guard messages, try opening (or creating, if you don't have one yet) your steam service account. You can do this from steampowered.com by clicking on Support and following the instructions on the topic that most closely matches your issue. NOTE: If you do not have two-step authentication on your steam account, you're going to have to provide proof of ownership over the account. Records of your credit card transactions or steam wallet codes will help you with this.

Yes, I have two-step identification with steam via my cell-phone. Unfortunately, it may (may I say, I still haven't gotten a response from Valve yet) be that when I logged out of my steam account, due to the caching glitch, someone else was able to see everything, including my two-step authentication number, change it, the email and my password, thus locking me out of my account through no fault of my own. Two-step authentication/verification is no good if someone spills the info, which it looks like Valve may have very well done. They were quick to announce that no credit card info was disclosed, but they haven't yet (to the best of my knowledge) denied the possibility that people were able to hijack accounts via the info they could see during the glitch.

The Dance of Death - A Killmove Mod has a MCM menu that let's you fine-tune effects (like decapitations) for (almost) all weapons.

Unfortunately, I can confirm that I am locked out of my steam account. It says "You have entered your password or account name incorrectly." When I click the "I can't sign in..." button I get: "Error. There was an error communicating with the Steam servers. Please try again later." Here are some news reports: http://steamed.kotaku.com/steam-problems-linger-after-christmas-fiasco-1749990652 http://www.cnet.com/news/christmas-glitch-allowed-steam-users-to-see-others-personal-info/ The upshot of this is that, for awhile, account details of users were view-able by others. I'm very worried that someone has used that info to hijack my account. I'm hoping that I'm simply in an area where I cannot connect properly with the steam servers yet and that the default message is that my login is wrong. I'll try setting up a troubleshooting-reportiing account, but this doesn't look hopeful. If my account has been hijacked, then I've just lost over a thousand dollars worth of games. You better believe that I will NOT be giving that amount of money to Steam a 2nd time if this is so. Edit: Here's a good YouTube video explaining the nuts-and-bolts of the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkSslseq9Y8 Frankly, this video is the only thing giving me hope that my account might not be hijacked.

Is the Old Orc supposed to have Ebony Battleaxe?
LeddBate replied to Victory030's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
My guess is would be a mod causing the game to "think" you're at greater than level 5. List your mods and someone might know. Of course you could always just put the equipment in storage at whatever house you have and not use it if until you're a higher level. -
Heh. I hear you. I can walk into Castle Dour wearing a full Stormcloak outfit and take the Imperial oath. -And can keep wearing it through the whole Civil War campaign. Would be wonderful if someone could find a way to mod NPCs so that they actually react to what race your are and what you wear.
-
Well, there's Inconsequential NPCs by Ripple. Here's the description of what will happen to non-Nords upon trying to enter Windhelm: Under the rule of Ulfric Stormcloak, Argonians and Khajiits are prohibited inside the walls of Windhelm. But apparently, the guards don't give a crap, they would rather hunt you down like a skeever for killing a farm animal. With 'Inconsequential NPCs', there is now a guard at each of Windhelm's gates who will actually enforce the law. You will be harassed by the gate guard upon entry to the city. If you are an Argonian or Khajiit, you will be promptly informed of the law, and the gate guard will attempt to escort you outside of the city. Everyone else will be given a race-specific warning to let you know just how much the Stormcloaks appreciate the presence of foreigners in Windhelm--except Nords, who will be able to come and go freely. This is not madness--this is Windhelm! Also, I believe this mod adds some nasty Thanes to Ulfric's banquet hall that make racist jokes about Argonians and Khajiit.

That plug-in might be from a related patch. Also, do you ever use the Steam Workshop? I once had to rebuild my game and NMM after my OS got corrupted. While everything worked, I suddenly realized I had some old mods back that I got rid of -but they weren't in my NMM. After poking around, I realized that somehow I had gotten "re-subscribed" to some workshop mods.

Also, I have found (at least in my play-throughs) that starting in Helgen (i.e. the prisoner cart ride-in onwards) with loads of mods activated from the very beginning leads to multiple crashes. Through trial and error (and a hefty dose of advice from GrandBulwark's Skyrim Project Stability) I have found that activating only the basic-most mods at first (e.g. SkyUI, etc.) then adding the rest in short waves after escaping Helgen leads to a much more stable game.

That's an ageing system, but is still sufficient to play Skyrim (which is, after all, a 4+ year old game itself.) However, I would leave most settings on medium. As notmyhome pointed out, a few texture mods are okay. Some of them actually will help to improve performance (optimizing!) However, stay away from anything even remotely close to 4k. I'm a bit confused by the "Approx Total Memory 2807MB" line. Does that refer to your remaining free space on your HD? Your GPU's memory buffer? Or something else? EDIT: Also, if you want a better read-out of your system (and its abilities) I recommend CPU-Z.

I agree with the roleplaying point of view. If I'm playing a warrior, no Alchemy for me. Buy 'dem potions. A priest or warrior priest? Some Alchemy. A wizard or spell-sword? a bit more Alchemy. On my next play-through, I'm going to emulate Mr. Livingstone (of "Concerned" and "Living in Oblivion" fame) and try playing a herbalist. Alchemy to the max. (And my follower will actually be my bodyguard.) I'll use "Live Another Life" by the esteemed Mr. Arthmoor to avoid that whole nasty, messy Helgen/Dragon mess... Also, while I've got your attention, could you all please answer the following Alchemy related questions... Have you ever: A) Accidently killed yourself at low level by eating too many ingredients at once to discover thier properties? B) Run off the edge of a cliff chasing butterflies? C) Run into an angry pack of trolls (is there any other type?) while chasing butterflies? 'Cause I'm guilty on all three counts....

Okay, I distantly recall having a similar problem during my first playthrough. I believe it ended up being a mod conflict and I had to simply de-select all my plug-ins, confirm that I could legally "brawl" again, then kept adding back in about 10 plug-ins at a time (and reloading the same save near the person I wanted to brawl with) until I suddenly couldn't brawl anymore. I then went through adding back in those 10 plug-ins one at a time until I found which one was the culprit. I can't for the life of me remember which one it was, but I do remember that I read it's description very, very carefully and realized I needed a patch for another mod I had that was causing the weird side effect of stopping my brawls. Hope that helps...

Burn or Embrace? Should you wait a bit before modding a game?
LeddBate replied to SkyEmerald's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I didn't buy the game until it had been out for nearly a year, so there was lots of mods and advice on how to use them already available. After reading up a bit on the forums, I decided to start with a limited number of mods from the "top 100 of all time" selection here at the Nexus. Best decision I ever made. Even though I've already bought FO4, I'm waiting for the team that brought us SKSE to get their version for it ready, then I'll get that and the common-sense mods that will be based on it, then start playing. -
Towns and Villages Enhanced. Specifically: Riften, Solitude, Whiterun and Windhelm. Expanded Towns and Cities for all other locales.

There are a LOT of ini files in games. But, presuming that you are referring to SkyrimPrefs.ini, then you will find it at: C:(or whatever drive you are using for Steam) /Steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim/Skyrim

Barring mods for the moment, you may be dealing with a progressively corrupted game/saves. Checking the game is easy, but lengthy. First, verify your Game Cache Integrity. To do so, right-click on the Skyrim game in your Steam menu. Choose "Properties". In the menu that appears choose the "Local Files" tab. Click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache." If you get an error, you might need to re-download your game. NOT your mods, just the game. (This is the "lengthy" part.) Second, try a very, very early save (from before when you noticed your problems.) If that early save plays without any of the problems, you may have a corrupted save problem due to a number of factors. One of the worst is if you have been removing mods from your game. Many mod authors and troubleshooters will tell you that on the subject of removing mods, don't. Why? Because many (though not all) mods leave behind scripts imbedded in your saves that try to fire when you play that save later. This leads to lots of errors (that you can see in your papyrus logs) that can lead to all sorts of weird game behaviour including CTDs. If you have corrupted saves, reverting back to an earlier save might be your only option. For more on game stability, I recommend: Skyrim Project Stability by Grand Bulwark.

What computer can run this huge mod list ?
LeddBate replied to WickedCat's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
IsharaMeradin pretty much hit it on the head. I guarantee you that resource-hungry textures are your main culprit. You've indicated that your GPU has a 3GB memory buffer. That's not that bad even by today's standards. (I'm doing okay with an old GTX 670 with only 2GB of buffer, but I can't even consider anything near 4K graphics.) You're best bet (if you absolutely want to keep all your hi-res textures, ENBs, etc.) is to upgrade your video card. Two possiblities are: 1) GTX 980 with 4GB of memory at approximately $450. 2) R9 390 Nitro with 8 (yes, eight!) GB of mem buffer at approximately $350. The 980 is faster and quieter, but the 390 Nitro has a huge memory buffer (for all those textures) and is a lot cheaper. Edit: Stupid automatic smiley's.... Grrrr. -
As far as modding goes, yeah, he's up there... I do wonder what would happen if I summoned Odahviing to the Sky Haven Temple practice grounds with the Paarthurnax Dilemma installed (and completed). Would Delphine and the rest of the blades still go beserk and attack him? Hmm, methinks I will expirement later...
-
Newegg and Tigerdirect are good online stores. I have seen R9 390s at some Best Buy stores. GTX 980 can be had for $500 with some rebate deals. AMD R9 390 is around $300 to $350. While the 980 is faster in most games, the 390's massive amount of GDDR5 mem buffer (8GB!!!) is better for "future-proofing" your rig for gaming purposes. Make sure that your mobo has an open PCI-e x16 lane open and that it can support the cards listed above. (RTFM.)

While a lot of factors contribute to long load times (mods, game settings, etc.) a good way to speed your load times is to install your game on an SSD as opposed to an HDD. A solid state drive is simply going to be faster by a huge margin over ordinary hard drives when it comes to reading/writing data. And THAT makes a huge difference on how fast your levels can load (in ANY game.)
