  1. Yeah, the concept could definitely be expanded to weapons, caps, and chems. Armor may be tricky though. As JagMaker said, the game needs weapon (and armor IMO) degradation which would really add a fun dynamic to a potential mod like this.
  2. I agree with you there, companions can be pretty stupid in some situations and they're especially stupid about cover. All around though, I find assault rifles are great for both short and long range. Location and terrain would definitely need to be taken into account by the player beforehand. If nothing else it would be good enough if they ONLY picked up the required ammo for their currently-equipped weapon or the last one that was equipped before ammo ran out. I suppose the companion themselves wouldn't need to physically pick up the ammo, it just gets divvied up and un-reclaimable as soon as the player loots ammo of that certain type.
  3. So I was watching a video on QoL mods (by Oxhorn) and one mod was mentioned that gives your companions infinite ammo. The narrator said "are you really a nanny who has to make sure that your companions are looting enough ammunition?". Which then got me thinking: IMO, infinite ammo is a bit immersion-breaking and unrealistic, yet having to supply companions with ammo entirely is also not any better. Would it be possible to create a mod where anytime you loot certain types of ammo, a percentage of that goes into the inventory of any companion(s) present? You wouldn't just be able to take this ammo back either, and companions would build up a "bank" of it for future use. This could also maybe be applied to chems or caps as well. Why should the player get 100% of the loot when he or she isn't necessarily doing 100% of the work? Obviously, this mod would be purely from an immersion standpoint so I'd rather not hear arguments like "why not just give them the items yourself?" because that is beside the point. Let me know what you guys think, it seems like a cool idea to me but I'm not sure if it's even possible with this engine. Thanks for reading!
  4. Just like the title says, if a follower or settlement guard has a weapon equipped and has the required ammo for it, they don't stow their weapon when the player does. It would add an immersive "menacing" feel in my opinion. I searched around and can't seem to find any mods that do this. I'm sure other people would enjoy this as well. Thank you for reading!
  5. First off, I apologize if this is in the wrong forum but I'm looking for a mod that makes it so the pictures of loot and items within crafting menus are NOT transparent/HUD colored. Similar to this mod (Gold Kit for Color Pipboy -anti-Black and White Screen- ), except it applies to looting and armor crafting. I've searched all over the Nexus and with Google and can't quite find what I'm looking for. It drives me crazy that when I'm searching for a gun or crafting armor I can't tell what it looks like or what color it is because of the blurry, pixelated mess that the default interface provides. I am using DEF_UI and I am unable to find any setting for this functionality either. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  6. Hi all, So I was watching the Walking Dead the other day and seeing all the modern-day abandoned cars and trucks on the highways really made me want that in Fallout 4. As much as I like the retro-futuristic look of the Fallout universe's cars/trucks, I think it would be a really cool mod for immersion to update cars and trucks to look more modern-day (IRL) vehicles. Perhaps assets from another game could be used? Left 4 Dead 2 or GTA 4 or 5 spring to mind, maybe adding some dusty textures to them. This is probably way too big an undertaking, but just thought I'd put out the idea to see if anyone else would agree. Let me know what you guys think and/or what the feasibility of a mod like this would be. Thanks for reading!
  7. So recently I started having a problem with my main playthrough (130+ hrs). I get an instant crash when trying to load them. This started out of nowhere, Fallout was working perfectly, and all I did was exit the game and take a break for a while. Here are some details about this issue: - This was shortly after installing CASM, and playing through a part of "Alien Resurrection Part 1" - If I go back far enough, roughly 30-40+ hours, I can load this character - Loading other characters' saved games and starting a new game works just fine with all mods - If I disable all mods but Fallout3.esm and DLCs, and load a save that is in a non-mod area (just the capital wasteland in this case) I still cannot load the game, so I don't think mods are the issue Is there any way to resolve this? I really hate the fact that the game worked just fine one minute and not at all the next. I don't want to waste all of/a lot of the hours I invested in this particular character. I have tried so many things, checked so many forum posts and nothing. I'm wondering if CASM somehow corrupted a lot of my saves somehow... I'm tired and rambling at this point lol. My computer specs are below but I doubt that has anything to do with it. Thanks for any help and suggestions in advance. 8. I appreciate your input, and that may have worked (I haven't tried it, saw your post too late) but something else weird happened. I got impatient and decided to reinstall fallout in another directory (and leave the "old" one there). I tested my new install and it worked, then decided to try the "old" one for giggles, and now it works somehow rofl. I didn't touch that old folder except to copy a few things over. I'm happy they both work yet a little frustrated I did it all again, but maybe a nice fresh install will help some CTD issues I've been having, silver lining and all that. Quick question though, should I add fallout3.exe to the DEP exclusion list anyways just as a precaution? Thanks again Purr
  9. *EDIT* To anyone else reading this post that has this same problem and is seeking a solution, I wish I could help but I can't, sorry. I honestly have no idea what made it work again. Hopefully something here helps you (Purr4me's suggestion would be a great place to start). Good luck. So I built a new computer a few weeks back (which I am typing this from now, see specs below), and installed fallout 3 and all my mods (same configuration as my old computer). It worked great up until I kept getting bluescreens and OS corruption a few days ago (which -seems- fixed by now, all has been stable). What seems to have remedied the aformentioned issues was updating my drivers, graphics, chipset, usb, sound, etc. and I also installed almost every windows update there was (including the service pack). But now, as a result, Fallout 3 will NOT open no matter what I try: -every compatibility mode -run as administrator -disabling all mods but F3 and DLC ESMs -toggling archiveinvalidation off and back on -toggling GFWL disable off and back on -I already have the busethreaded ai and so on -using fallout3.exe, fose_loader, Fallout_fullscreen, and Falloutlauncher -Directx end-user runtime web installer -install Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 C++ Redistributable -and more that I can't remember lol I do not think this is a mod issue, because like I said before, the same thing happens if I disable ALL mods. If I watch the processes tab in Task Manager I can see that fallout3.exe shows up for just a second before disappearing. Does anyone have any ideas on how to salvage this? I really really don't want to reinstall because it's such a pain in the ass... any help is appreciated thank you.
