  1. Thank you for your post. However to be honest, graphics are the last thing I'm worried about. I dont care about HD textures. I simply want a stable setup. I have been reading through a lot of old posts and seeing people making INI changes that I'm more conceded with. I want to be able to add more NPCs, and for my system to handle them. I have identified the mods that give me issues. They are ones that add more NPCs. But those are the ones I want the most. So I am trying to find INI changes that can help my system be able to handle the memory issues NPCs present.
  2. If you think that looks terrible, I'd hate to see what you call amazing. I just dont get it. That blows mine away.
  3. I am trying to get an older PC to get better stability running Skyrim. NOT the new Skyrim SE, my system doesnt meet the minimum requirements. Ok in its day, this machine was a monster. The video card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT Total available graphics memory: 2431MB Dedicated graphics memory: 1024MB Dedicated system memory: 0MB Shared system memory: 1407 Processor: Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q8300 @ 2.50 GHz 2.50 GHz. Installed Ram 4GB (3.25GB usable) I know I will never be able to run this on high settings. I set everything to low. I am running default settings on the video card as well as no HD Texture packs. I am running some mods. I run MO so it runs a virtual drive thus keeping my game folder clean. I pay attention to notes on mods, I run through LOOT, I have no errors or even files in my overwrite file. I dont have any ini tweaks or PC bios tweaks. I am having issues not with ctd but with infinite loading screens. I know the mods that are the issue. The ones adding NPCs. I can disable them and run smoothly. But I dont want them disabled. Interesting NPCs dont really give me issues, but when mixed with travelers of skyrim and expanded towns and cities, I start getting infinite loading screens. I know this is because my system isnt a new gaming system. Its old by human terms, archaic in PC time frames. But I have to work with what I have. Now that my novels is over (I thought it wise to share my setup as well as my direct issue,) what are some things I can do do add a little more power from my PC? Are there (still current) INI changes that can help me? Are there advanced BIOS changes I can make? Is there anything I can do? Or am I just SOL and have to buy a new PC or just dont get to use those mods? I have tried to research this on my own but everything I see I can find somewhere else saying its not needed anymore because of changes in updates... Thanks for any constructive assistance.
  4. The only reason I am wanting to completely get this down is that I am considering installing FNIS. But I dont really know much about it other than what I read on the mod description. Plus it seems like its a lot of trouble. Is FNIS worth the trouble of fully understanding the overwrite file as well as the proper installation and running of FNIS through MO? Is it worth all these hours I'm giving it?
  5. Hi all. Since SSE was recently released, it got me wanting to play skyrim again. I dont have 8gb of ram in my system so I can't play SSE. I never played skyrim on the PC (ive never played a game on the PC since like the very 1st Kings Quest game...back on my IBM PCjr when I was a wee hatchling. Anyway... I have started downloading and installing mods. At first I went with NMM because it was what I saw suggested everywhere. That lasted about 3 days before I had to uninstall skyrim and try again. So this time I went with MO. The virtual file system was a winner in my eyes. Hopefully I won't ever have to reinstall the game again. Also I won't have to worry about my saves when removing mods. Now my question. Can someone, anyone please for the love of god help me understand the overwrite file? I understand what it does. What I dont understand is how to properly remove things from there and what to do with them after removal from there.... After running LOOT through MO, I get 1 potential problem. The overwrite file. So if I double click on overwrite, it brings up SKSE. I break it down and I have plugins then I select plugins, I have "HDTPhysicsExtensions.log" as well as "SimplyKnockData" I can click it and it says profile1.json and common.Json What I need help with is the proper way to solve this issue. Ive seen the right click for new mod stuff but I dont really get what I should do after I create a new mod. I mean I take it I should do it for both HDTPhysics and SimplyKnock, but after I "create" the new mod I have no idea what to do after that. The instructions aren't clear. Can anyone PLEASE help me?
  6. Killer ninja: Nice thread hijack. J/K buddy. I still dont understand why they make you be logged in to use the NMM. it sure irritates me having to tether to my PC for 3 minutes...
  7. ravenOak, thanks for replying. Yes I have properly installed SKSE. And checked it ingame to make sure it's the most recent one. And as far as addons, I work in the secondary Android market rooting phones, flashing ROMs, and fixing rushed amateur attempts at doing so for a living. I was in Naval Intelligence in another life, (earlier in my life...just a lifetime ago.) So attention to detail is my repertoire. I make a living on people not paying attention to detailed specific instructions. So yes, any mod I have installed, I have also installed all needed add-ons. I truly think it has EVERYTHING to do with the fact that NMM isnt installing the files it should. There are some that ive researched the proper install method if the mod author doesn't include a readme file. But almost every time I see people suggest it to be installed via NMM. But my issue is NMM will say so and so mod can't be added." So I extract the archive and add the file to my DATA folder. In the same place NMM adds them. However I always run my mods through LOOT and let it arrange them. I also make sure to always check it for errors. If it spits back an error, I get rid of the mod. I'm going on 5 days of working on this. I am about to be at the point where I uninstall everything and if NMM won't install it, then I just won't install it. But its a shame. I'd really like to truly learn how to work with scripts... I really want to try the Immersive College. But not until I can find a truly detailed up to date guide or walk through. But if I can't get these issues fixed, I dont know how in the world I'll learn that... Should I uninstall everything and only install ones NMM will actuality install?
  8. Hi guys. I am totally new to the modding scene (as a user only.) And I am having some questions about the NMM. Ok... I dont have the internet at home. I do ALL of my downloading off my totally unlimited data phone. This is how I always do things. Doesnt matter if its movies, music, programs for my PC, doesnt matter...I always download with my phone then move to my PC via USB. Ok so now that we have how I do my downloading out of the way... Time for my questions... About half of the mods that I download will actually install via NMM. most will say (for instance) Wearable Lanterns can't be added. Doesnt tell me why just says can't be added. Now of the 50% that get past this part, about 1/3 of them fail to install on the other side. Either I get system.outofmemoryexception, or it will say something else that for the life of me I can't remember right now, while the other small % install fine. So I thought maybe the issue is with how I'm downloading them. So I tether my phone to my PC (about 60Mbps) download them through NMM and I have the same issues. So I manually install them. I dont manually install any that require scripts...ever. Now I am getting the infinite loading screen. It hasn't ever crashed to the desktop. Not once. But what happens is i can always load my game. I can always finish off the dungeon or whatever that I'm in. But as soon as I leave the dungeon, and it goes to the loading screen thats all she wrote. Now I will say my infinite loading screen still has the words in rotation and the smoke in the background never stops moving, but it will sit like that for hours and just cycle through all the things it wants to tell me. I have searched high and low for an answer to this, and I have found that it's a common issue, but I can't find anything newer than 2013 giving suggestions on how to fix this... I have watched a few of Gophers (or gopher something) videos. Most being out of date, but I still got a few things from one of them. I changed the block size from 256 to whatever it was in his video. This made a little difference. When I am in the same dungeon as a door I can open it w/o being kicked into infinity, but the second I go to leave the dungeon, its infinite screen of loading (not freezing.) I put in around 300 hours of the 360 and when it would get an infinite loading screen, the words and smoke would stop. This is why I'm so confused. Is there an actual fix for this from 2016? Something where people aren't directing me to use a mod thats already included in skse? Oh yeah, I already have my settings set to the absolute lowest. I dont use any HD textures or anything... And I have a sneaking suspicion that if I get whatever is messed up with installing via NMM resolved, it will resolve my whole issue. Ok now that my novel is complete, any help would be greatly appreciated.
