None of that applies for me. I am aware of the wiki site(s) and have gone through each of the possible issues, and none of the possible answers work (for me, at least.... and I tried quite a few). I am also not a vampire with my character, so that does not apply to this situation. I do not use WryeBash and so no, I have not used it. I use NMM and LOOT, along with SSEEdit, and have been through the files for nearly 5 days straight. My mods are clean, aside from the Issues With My DLC .esm's which could possibly be the issue, but after looking through the files in SSEEdit, the only issues that arise are that of the dragon saddles (which does not cause an issue in-game) and ironically, arrows, of which the energy blast that comes from the Bloodskal Blade is classified as. I have asked repeatedly for possible ways to fix it, with no responses. If you believe you have a possible solution, please, I'm all ear... eh, eyes, rather. Anyways, someone was able to get me a SOLUTION (being as I am on the PC) to get past the door, so my character and save data now survive! A monumental thank you goes out to that person for saving Britania Manamus!

The Final Descent/Bloodskal Blade Issue (Repost)
ShadowDW replied to ShadowDW's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Sir/Ma'am(?) ... I cannot express the love I have for you right now. I was exploring this issue for 4 or 5 days now and thought Britania Manamus (my Ax-Mage) was going to be lost in the tomb of Bloodskal forever. You have my deepest appreciation for your assistance in releasing her from her (temporary) prison. Seriously, the best thing about this fix is that it is not game-breaking and I can proceed as if I had used the blade itself. You, s... eh, good person that you are, have my deepest gratitude for finally providing a (albeit roundabout) fix for this unsolved issue. I have found that this issue is 4 or 5 years old too, and was an issue with Oldrim as well. Well done! -
The Final Descent/Bloodskal Blade Issue (Repost)
ShadowDW replied to ShadowDW's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
Alright, so first off I want to apologize for a comment I made in the previous post. I was a bit aggravated and irritated at the problem and said something off-putting; I have since deleted the comment. Back on topic ... I have been diligently trying to find the issue and have found something interesting (thank you xEdit), and go figure, it involves this arrow situation with my DLCs. Apparently, the Bloodskal Blade effect is considered an "arrow" or "Bloodskal Ammo." Dragonborn.esm-Ammunition Bloodskal Ammo Data Bloodskal Blade Reference Can this issue possibly be a part of the problem? If so, how would I (theoretically, of course) go about trying to fix it? Also, for those of you that are console command-knowledgeable, why are the console commands relating to the Bloodskal Blade and its effect in-game, refer to its ID in-game as "0401aea0" and "0401aed0," when the xEdit data lists its ID as "0201aea0" and "0201aed0"? --- Follow up: If I wanted to "activate" the magic effect in-game, how would I do that via the console? (or can you do such a thing?) -
The Final Descent/Bloodskal Blade Issue (Repost)
ShadowDW replied to ShadowDW's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
So after a couple of days of researching this issue, and going through absolutely every possible "fix" that was posted, I am officially stuck with this quest. I have tried: --- Double-casting Healing --- Dropping the blade/Picking the blade back up --- Giving it to follower --- Loading a previous save (even before I started the quest ... hence why I keep multiple saves) --- Console commands (various including advancing the quest, disabling the weapon, removing the weapon and re-adding it) --- Removing FNIS files --- Praying to various mythical beings --- Voodoo dolls If there is anything else anyone can think of that I haven't tried, please tell me, I will try anything. But as of now, this quest for me is officially broken because the damn Bloodskal Blade is broken. No matter which way I power swing the thing, or what I do with the console, or whatever else is listed above ... absolutely nothing works; the damn thing just does not work and will not fire anything of any sort. It would be nice to actually figure out what the hell is going on here, because I am not the first to have experienced this issue. No one has any clues? At all? -
**Sorry for the repost, just looking for some possible answers.** I am unsure if these questions are in the right place or not, so please forgive me if they are (and move this post if it is deemed necessary, please). Having said that, I am, obviously, doing this quest (for the first time, if you can believe it) and ran into an issue where the Bloodskal Blade is not emitting the energy wave that it is supposed to do. Yes, I am aware of the horizontal and vertical power swings I am supposed to perform, and I am doing them, but the blade is not emitting the energy wave when performing any of the power moves (moving side to side, the vertical, or the backwards power moves). So, before I go reverting saves, or doing anything drastic lol, I have 2 questions I'd like to ask. 1) Does anyone know if any of the mods I have installed, are affecting the Bloodskal Blade in any way, or perhaps are preventing the effect from emitting from the blade itself? Mod List 2) Does anyone know if there is perhaps a minimum Stamina requirement for the effect to happen? I have 216 Stamina at L59 (Battlemage ... or AxeMage, as I like to call her ) and I'm wondering if because I am that high level, if perhaps there may be a minimum Stamina requirement for the blade's effect. A) Is there a way that someone can possibly look into the details of the Bloodskal Blade and see if there are requirements for it, or its' effects, please? Again, my apologies if this is in the wrong place. Being as this is the first time I have done this particular quest, this is obviously the first time I have encountered this issue. I did Google it, and I have tried all of the suggested fixes (aside from loading previous save): Dual-casting healing spells; Dropping it and picking it back up, switching back and forth from 1st person and 3rd person views. I am open to any other suggestions is anyone has any. So before I go loading a previous save (which is not really a problem), can anyone answer the above 2 questions please? Thank you for any help anyone can provide.

Ok so after a few playthroughs, doing just about a bit of everything I can think of, I haven't had any real issues of concern. In fact, things seem to be rather smooth. I did have one CTD coming back to Whiterun from the giant camp that's due West of Whiterun, but then again, Whiterun is the king of CTDs it seems (Whiterun = CTD Central? CTDville? CTDtown? I got it ... CTD City!?) Anyways, not one CTD since that one, and I have been back to Whiterun multiple times so, perhaps it was just a one off (or something to do with the arrow bulls**t, who knows). Past that, I have had 2 CTDs (one was the previously mentioned in the post above), however, both had to do with dragging corpses around. I'm not exactly sure what the cause is there, but I've tried to repeat the process without any luck (I do RP "burying" the corpses by hiding them, or throwing them into rivers/lakes/various bodies of water, ... sue me). Both times were by grabbing the corpse by the head and dragging it forward, but again, I've tried repeating that process quite a few times but to no avail. *shrugs* Anyways, things to be mostly stable. Hopefully at some point I can find a way to fix it for good.

Just read my post sir. There is something more than just cleaning those files, and yes, the problem is verified with cleaning those files. I do use NMM and LOOT, and if you read my post, everything was just fine nearly 2 weeks ago. No issues, no CTD's, no nothing, and then ... well, just read the post. Repeating myself seems unnecessary. Again, the problem with the CTD's is verified.

Ok, some progress has been made! I have been tinkering with xEdit a bit, trying to figure out what the "unused data" is all about, and I think I may have an idea of what that is about, although I haven't pinpointed anything as yet. However, I think I have found a work around to the dirty DLC .esm's without having to clean them. For anyone that is dealing with this issue, use your SSEEdit, and simply load the 3 DLC's (Update.esm will automatically load itself, as it is required): Then just Right-Click on each DLC .esm and click on "Undelete and Disable References": Keep in mind that this is a temporary solution as I have not had enough time to do thorough playthroughs to see if they work. Also, the navmeshes that were supposedly deleted, somehow are either still deleted and don't report in LOOT, or are simply masked (or some other reason I've yet to identify). Anyways, the playthrough I did test out did freeze up at one point (east of Whiterun along the path to the Tower), however I was able to fast travel from Solitude to Froki's Cabin (a known crash point), and do some other traveling and fighting, without issue. I will keep piddling around but for now, this is what I have come up with. The "unused data" still bothers me some, as I'm almost for certain it has something to do with that missing keyword. It seems a bit strange to me that there would be one for the Dawnguard.esm and not one for the Skyrim.esm, although, it also doesn't make sense that there would be 2 data points for keywords on a basic item; something seems a bit off there. Anyways, will have more later .... life calls!

You know what they say ... with more power comes .... MORE POWER!!! Ok, ok, seriously we are going waaaaaayyyy off topic here lol (not that I don't mind talking PC's :) ), so back to the issue at hand. I just woke up and have a few things to do first and then I'ma start delving into some xEdit testing. I have to create a whole bunch of backups first before I get started but, I'd like to find at least a couple of fixes by the end of the day. *begins to channel his inner-Magnus*

Ok, you should read my post first sir. Doing this creates a very bad loop of CTD issues. This method you have linked has been done and is part of the endless loop. For reference, please READ HERE.

Wow ... that looks FAMILIAR: My Post Ok so now I'm for SURE something batty is going on here. By the way man, if you clean those mods, you may get some random CTD'ing, as you will read in my post. To fix it, googling the issue will tell you that you will probably have to verify your game cache via Steam (Library, SSE (R-Click->Properties->Local Files)). This will start an endless loop because once you clean those DLC .esm's, you will CTD in certain areas of the map, in the same spots EVERY TIME. To fix it, verify game cache, which brings back the dirty DLC .esm's we both have .... and now you've entered the endless loop. I am currently researching this issue and trying to find people who can help solve the problem. I have over 140+ mods and did not have an issue until this problem arose about 10-11 days ago (or so). I also have a L50+ character I do not want to lose to this issue. Something happened to some of us with this exact same issue apparently, so a solution will definitely have to be found.

Sorry ... life ... Yes, .. yes it was an ASUS. But again, it was the power supply taking a dump which caused the whole problem(s) so, I cannot put the blame on ASUS. I've actually never had an issue with ASUS tbh, although I have heard the horror stories. However, you're bound to get a few of those in every brand; and if it's more than a few, that's a sure sign to STAY AWAY!! The real bad thing was ... you know how you're just sitting at your computer one day, and everything is fine, then you get up to go make something to eat, or walk around, or just generally do something away from the comp for a few minutes ... then you come back in the room and *sniff*, *sniff* (electrical fire smell) ... uh-oh *scurry to shut the computer down immediately*. Oh boy .... oh no, please no ... for the love of Malog Bal no .... *sniffs more electrical things burning while unplugging everything computer related*. Ya ... that happened, which caused the mobo/mem issues months later so ... *sigh* joy to my (already empty) wallet lol. Thanks for helping me out with this. If I have any time tomorrow, I'ma delve more into the xEdit and possibly try some things to see if I can start fixing something because, this just seems far too random for me and tbh, it has to be reversible somehow.

Nope, NMM, as my OP stated. .. Also, use LOOT to auto-sort (although you have to close NMM and reopen for it to adjust but, it works). I hear you on the rigs. My original rig cost ~$1800, had intel i7 quad-core 3.4Ghz with 16GB RAM but had a power supply take a dump on me, swapped that out for a new one (750, old was 650) only to find out about 6 months later that it had somehow damaged the bus on the L3 cache somehow, which disrupted mem swap; eventually the mobo just took a dump and took the processor with it. So I decided I wasn't gonna spend another $1200 on Intel and switched to AMD, which meant all new core components. Now I have a Gigabyte GA-990FXA (AMD 990FX, AM3+) mobo with an AMD FX-8350 8-core, 4Ghz CPU, and switched to 32GB GSkill Ripjaws Z Series ... all for $500. Still need to upgrade my GPU, which I haven't done in 3 years or so (still using the ol' reliable GTX-960) but, it does the job for now. I really want a 1080 but ... my dreams are on hold atm. Anyways, nice rig! .. and ya, NMM to save me the trouble on install. I really should devote some more time to look into the intricacies of the xEdit but, I simply do not have enough of it these days. Why is it the older you get, the less time you have? ... weird.

That's what I meant, you're right. It is the primary piece of data the game relies on so ya, the last thing, hence top of the load order. Sorry about the misunderstanding but ya .. what you said.
-
Well, within xEdit, you can actually edit the data within those files to manually "clean" or otherwise fix, those files by hand, so to speak. Basically, my question was about the data within, pertaining mainly to the Skyrim.esm, because the game relies on the information within the Skyrim.esm master file, first and foremost, before it reads anything else. To my knowledge (I could be wrong, but this is the way I understood it to be) that when data is injected into another file, that data is transferred up the ladder, to the foremost file, so that other files will use that data in the game, hence a load order. So when data doesn't match, you get an error, or if data is missing, you get a warning, and so on. Again, my understanding could be wrong but this is how I understood it. So back to my question, and I'll use the Dawnguard-Ammo as an i.e. What I'm asking (or really looking for confirmation before I try something lol) is that, am I getting the "Warning: Unused data ..." message because the data that is in the Dawnguard.esm (Dawnguard-Ammo-!A) is missing in the Skyrim.esm file (Dawnguard-Ammo-1B), thus giving me "unused data?" If this is the case, maybe I can manually fix it? One thing at a time, so let's start with this one lol, then maybe we can work stuff out from here. Spooky, you have been a help so don't think you're not. Removing possibilities is definitely beneficial in my mind so thank you for your replies sir.

I have also spent whatever time I could, looking at those mods in SSEEdit, and I've been seeing some strange things. As I am basically a noob when it comes to SSEEdit, I can recognize when something is out of place ... may not be able to diagnose or fix it, but I can see it damnit! Anyways, I was looking through the DLC .esm's as well as USSEP, and I'm seeing some very strange stuff that I was hoping someone may be able to explain to me (not necessarily derive an answer, but that would be awesome too!) I was trying to figure why (oh by the way ...) the game was crashing on me anytime I had certain arrows in my pack (namely iron and steel). I looked at the "warnings" about "unused data" in the Dawnguard..esm about these arrows-issue: Dawnguard-Ammo Please correct any of this if it is wrong ... Isn't the information within the Dawnguard.esm, supposed to be the same as in the Update.esm as well as the Skyrim.esm? Similarly, isn't the information that is in Hearthfire.esm/Dragonborn.esm, supposed to be the same as in Update and Skyrim.esm's? Further, the information that is in the USSEP.esm, is that information supposed to be injected into all the DLC .esm's, the Update.esm, and the Skyrim.esm? Maybe this can explain why things in these DLC .esm's are dirty (still makes me wonder how they got that way to begin with). Also of note, I was investigating more than just the arrows issue, and ran across several errors like these: Dawnguard-Armor Dragonborn-Body Part Dragonborn-Idle Dragonborn-Idle2 Can anyone with knowledge of mods and the SSEEdit help explain this stuff and possibly help me figure out just what the hell happened to my game? Any assistance/explanations would be greatly appreciated. The replies have helped narrow things down thus far, of which I am extremely appreciative of, thank you.
-
Ok, my apologies for not responding to this in a day or two. I have been away dealing with life ... yay? Anyways, pertaining to the replies (granting I can remember them all lol; if not, I'll edit and reply) ... and thank you to everyone for their input, much appreciated. Yes, my character did exist prior to Bethesda's version of Nexus, a.k.a. Creation Club, and also, these problems happened post-Creation Club update; probably 3 weeks or so after the fact. While I do have SKSE downloaded, it is not installed. I am pausing on using the SKSE because it is an ALPHA build. Quite frankly, I'd rather wait for a stable, mostly finalized version of it before I start using it. I have played and used, many things in Alpha stage, and the bugs galore that come with them are not what I want to deal with. I want to play my game, not be a virtual exterminator. No offese meant by saying that, as I did my fair share of time in testing games, modules, etc. As far as any recent updates, within the past 8-9 days or so, I am unaware of any. So I am still at a loss of A) how my mod load order got rearranged to begin with, and B) how those DLC's got dirty to begin with ... they were clean and the game was progressing nicely with no flaws or issues (aside from some minor stuff that was easily corrected ... but nothing, aside from this, in the past 2 months or so).
-
Ok, after looking for a bit, I'm fairly certain that SSE has never been updated. I looked into the update news, and there is none for SSE. So I'm left to believe that this cannot be the cause, if there hasn't been any update to the game. I don't think a Steam update would have any effect on any certain game because they tend to stick to their own software. In any case, thanks for the reply. All things considered, we can remove one more possibility from the list lol.
-
@spookymunky: That's interesting, but I don't recall SSE ever updating? I will have to look into that. If this is indeed the case, then I am royally f----d because I use all 6 of my saves; I alternate between every 2 quests, usually 2 at a time so I always have somewhere to back track. E.g., I'll do 2 (sometimes 3 or 4, if the quests are short and easy) quests and alternate between saves, depending on if the outcome hasn't become borked in some way. I guess I need to use 7 all day, using one as a primary master save, if what you have said is the case. This is starting to become a very bad day .... Level 57 character about to be flushed down the toilet. :/
-
If you are referring to the "Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch," that just isn't possible. I have more than 130 mods installed, and most of them require that I use the USSEP. This "fix" would break my game altogether, and would force me to start my SSE from scratch (which would take 2 or 3 days to do); this is not something I do not want to do. Oldrim had me so frustrated that I almost gave up the game altogether, because I want to use these mods as in my mind, Oldrim was missing so much that mods reinstalled in the game and made it more pleasurable to play. Long story short, SSE gave me a chance to start from scratch and create something more stable ... and it was, up until a week ago when the mysterious, aforementioned, "gremlins" happened. Thank you for the response though. Hopefully someone, somewhere may have a solution to this bizarre loop.

Preface: I sincerely apologize for the long post, but as you will (hopefully) read, it is all necessary info. This may sound entirely weird and strange but, I have a very odd CTD issue, and I'm sure it has nothing to do with my mods, and everything to do with the Update and DLC .esm's. So, my game was running great a week or so ago, and all of a sudden, I start getting these strange random CTD's, that I have figured out weren't random at all. I open up NMM and LOOT, and find out my load order got out of sort (I've no idea how, I added/updated recently but did not experience any issues with doing so ... will explain in further detail shortly) and LOOT is now telling me that the Update, Hearthfire, Dawnguard, amd Dragonborn .esm's are all dirty and need to be cleaned: This is completely new, as when I did my additions/updates, these were perfectly fine. So I went opened up SSEEdit and cleaned them, and everything was going great, until I went to advance the Kyne quest at Froki's cabin and kept crashing every time I tried to fast travel there. So I went to Ivarstead instead, and tried to hoof it there, only to find out I kept CTD'ing at the same exact spot every time. Okay .. tried going to Treva's Watch and go from there ... nope, CTD in the same spot every time. Googled the issue, found out all I needed to do was verify my cache; did that and Steam had said 6 files failed to verify and replaced them. Awesome, problem solved ... or so I thought. Kept playing along and when I got back to Heljarchen Hall, the game kept CTD'ing on me in random spots inside the house (would do a couple of things, then CTD). So I pop back open NMM and LOOT, only to find that the same damn .esm's have the EXACT SAME dirty records as before I cleaned them. So I reopen SSEEdit to try and figure out WTF is going on, and came across these warnings: First off, pertaining to my additions/updates ... I switched from UNP to CBBE, added Lightweight Scrolls and the Puzzle Pillar Retexture, and updated the Bodyslide mod. After doing these, which was about a month ago, I had zero issues, as the UNP to CBBE conversion went smoothly. These issues I am having recently, all started in the past week and I have done nothing new (aside from the previous). Having said that, I did run into one problem concerning the damn College of Winterhold quests, specifically The Staff of Magnus/The Eye of Magnus quests, where it would bork out and not want to advance the quest once returning to the College with the Staff of Magnus (I love doing Mage's Guild quests but this one ..... *sigh* this one gets on my nerves, and for many reasons aside from this nonsense). So after trying a few things, it just would not advance the quest, so I tried Googling some answers: 1) Uninstalling any mods pertaining to the College itself (aside from DLC), or anything altering College mechanics and/or scripts = DID NOT WORK 2) Uninstalling anything that may change clothing, abilities, physical changes (hair, eyes, so forth), etc. = DID NOT WORK 3) Uninstalling all mods and go vanilla = DID NOT WORK (although you can guess what happened when you uninstall 130+ mods on a save ...) So, as mentioned, I completely borked my save ... but this is why one should have multiple saves with any one particular character, which I had 6 and used an extra 7th, figuring this might happen. So upon reinstalling everything, fixing my load order (again), and making everything as it was, I delete the borked up save, reload a previous and go back to the College. You can guess what happened then ... wow, look at that, it's working again! So I was able to complete the quest, after going through all of that for absolutely no reason, and move on. This was 2 weeks ago (or so). All of this now leaves me with a bunch of questions and unable to figure out just Warren T. Funk (WTF) happened to my game. To start: 1) How did my load order get screwed up to begin with? 2) How did those DLC .esm's all of sudden become dirty? A) Follow up: Why did cleaning them make a certain area of the map (are there more?) become inaccessible? 3) Why does verifying the game cache make the DLC .esm's dirty again? 4) How do I stop the endless loop I seem to be stuck in? To summarize ... HELP! Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue? If need be, my LOAD ORDER:

Random CTD Issue; Need Assistance In Solving
ShadowDW replied to ShadowDW's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
UPDATE: I was able to get through some gameplay, and I ran into some issues with a couple of mods (of which I will attempt to contact the owner for a fix, while hoping the mod hasn't simply been ported into SSE) ... these may interest some people to know. First, is with the mod "The Kids Are Alright" (TKAA), version 2 (A Series of Unfortunate Events): I've run into some places where the kids are missing bodies entirely and just have faces and a weapon/shield (including a skeletal child summoned by a necromancer; I'm pretty certain this was at The Ritual standing stone location). Because version 2 does not make these "kids" mortal, I believe it has this unfortunate side effect of not having any kind of body. I don't believe this had anything to do with my CTD issue however, I'm also unsure if it will have any kind of effect on the game in the future. Secondly is with the mod iNeed - Food, Water, and Sleep, version 1.83: I believe this mod was the ultimate cause of my CTD issues. When I activated the mod from the Powers menu, and began to categorize the foods/drinks, the mod itself would not remember any of the selections I had made and as well, stopped counting food towards my "needs." Because of this, I had to turn the "death" feature off so as not to continually die from malnutrition, and ultimately, this lead to me having to disable the mod altogether. Upon doing so, my CTD issues ceased entirely as I have not had one CTD since. I hope this information is useful for others and I will attempt to let the mod authors know about these issues. Thanks for reading.
