  1. In case no one has bothered to mention it here. LOL I and many, many others have been getting this error:

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Too many connections in /home/tes/public_html/includes/mysql.php on line 2

Site MySQL is currently down. Please come back a little later. Error follows:

    Too many connections

If there's a way to fix this sometime today please do. :D It would be greatly appreciated.

  2. So they've been down for almost 20 minutes now, the Oblivion Nexus pages. Is this a known issue? Someone working on it? Or hasn't anyone in charge been online to realize it yet? LOL Just wanted to point it out in case it was being missed. Thanks!

Edit: And finally they're back again.. :D Thank goodness.

  3. I'll third this. Even with the adult filter on, you can't help but see the titles in the top 100 and let's face it, some of the titles say it all. My 14 year old sister has had a bit of an education looking through the top 100 on occasion with the filter on so yes, a separate site for them would be a great idea. In my opinion of course.
  4. Regarding Browser Hijacking

If your browser is re-directed (hijacked) to other sites no matter if you are on the Nexus or other sites (assuming you have someplace else to be other than the Nexus...hehehe) then I'd suggest starting a witch-hunt for a rogue trojan / spyware / adware that is running rampant on your system. Go grab a copy of MalwareBytes and run it on your system to see if you have infestations and clean them up. If so, it is usually impossible to tell where you were originally infected since they RARELY will reveal themselves while you are at the site of infection (otherwise the site would be easy to identify and shutdown).

Take a look at an article I wrote on TESNexus regarding how to protect your PC.

    LHammonds

Thanks LHammonds but back when this first happened that was the FIRST thing my husband did. Our PC is protected as he's a bit paranoid about Malware. We're clean. The problem as Dark0ne has told me is that some of the ads on Nexus have been hacked. Do please don't be one of those people who automatically assumes it's the users fault and then ignores the problem just because it's easier.

  5. Okay. Sadly it happened again. My browser was just jacked by a Nexus add again. I didn't get an image of the ad itself before I was redirected to this page:

However I was on the download page for one of my houses, here:

    http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27088

and had just tried to navigate to my profile when it happened. As per usual, I had to use the Task Manager to kill my browser altogether.

  6. 35+ Oblivion Gamer Girl here. I much prefer the fantasy world over the pseudo-realism of Fallout to play in. In fact, the only wargame I do play on a regular basis is Medal of Honor and I play that online with a clan.

Oblivion and long before it, Morrowind pull me in and take me out of my life and allow me to express myself in any way I want as both a player and a modder. The Lore of the Elder Scrolls is also something near and dear to me. As an armchair historian, I appreciate the thought and care that went in to it's creation...and the sometimes hysterical lapses in the Lore as well. :P

I just don't feel the same connection to Fallout's game world.

  7. And again today I'm afraid. I remembered to screenshot the page this time though. Perhaps this will help? Again, had to use the task manager to kill FF in order to close the page.

And this one a few seconds later when I tried to open one of the other tabs.

  8. :wallbash: Ugh. I should have thought to grab a screenshot of the page. I WILL remember to do so the next time it happens. Thank you very much for taking the time to respond.

My PC is currently clean. Whenever something like this happens, the first thing we do is check for viruses/spyware/malware etc... My husband is a bit of a paranoid about that type of thing.

Thanks again guys and I will be sure to grab a screenshot next time. :thanks:

  9. Well, Nexus just tried to hijack my browser again. I was doing a search for a mod at the time. When I hit enter to start the search, I got a pop up asking me if I was sure I wanted to navigate away from the page.

Once again, I was forced to use the Task Manager to kill FireFox as the bloody pop up wouldn't let me close the page. It didn't manage to actually redirect me this time, so I'll attribute that to my having upgraded Java to it's most recent version.

Has anyone taken a look at this yet? I wonder how many others have experienced this problem but, as most people do, not bothered to post anything about it.

I know you guys have your hands full daily so I appreciate any help you can give. The download pages are cooperating again for me now, but that it keeps happening tells me there's a bug lurking somewhere.

    Thanks again.

  10. Well, if the problem was sorted out of older versions of Java then it appears to have resurfaced in a newer version as I was using the most recent but one until 20 minutes ago.

I'm not an MS hater. You're safe. I happen to like it...most of the time. LOL

If I hear from anyone else that they've had this problem, I'll be sure to direct them here and let you know. Thanks for the help!

  11. Well, so far so good. I logged out, cleared the cache and logged back in. I've not gotten redirected again yet and I visited several download pages including the ones I was jacked on earlier.

Now, the copy of Java we're using is, I believe, the latest version or latest but one. I'll have to check. We check for updates monthly for the plug ins. Is this exploitable weakness a property of the newer versions or older?

Edit: Just checked. I was using the last most recent version. Just updated to the newest.

  12. I was redirected both times to a bogus site claiming my PC was infected and that it was running a scan. I couldn't close the page. A "warning" pop up forced FF to freeze and stay open and in the end, I had to use the task manager both times to close it.

I'm really using just basic plug ins in my browser. Nothing fancy. Adobe Acrobat, Java, Quicktime, Real Player, Shockwave. That's about it really. To answer one of the next spate of questions: No, I have not changed anything in my browser today or indeed in the last month at least.

  13. Not me. I am already using FireFox. So, not that simple to explain it away. Sorry to ruin your moment of genius. And I'm a bit irritated by the whole thing as I use Nexus quite a bit not only to download but to host my mods as well.

I'd like an explanation of what happened and if it will soon be sorted so I don't have to worry about having to kill my browser with the task manager before something nasty takes over my computer.

  14. I've just had my browser hijacked twice in the last ten minutes. Both times immediately after navigating to a Nexus page and both times I was forced to use the Task Manager to kill the browser.

I've run a virus check. Doesn't appear anything dire has made it through my firewalls but that my browser got hijacked at all means you guys may have a problem. I just wanted to give you a heads up on this. It seems to only be happening on the download pages as I had no problem when loading the forums here.

Hope it's nothing serious but I'll be steering clear of the Nexus download pages for a bit I think. :(
