The samsung ssd is good The amount of vram has noting to do with how fast a graphics chip is. Read this review. http://us.hardware.info/reviews/4440/nvidia-geforce-gtx-770-review-incl-3-way-sli-and-frametimes

The socket 1150 kit would be a little more expensive but they have several advantages They almost all have great audio-chips, this might be the generation that kills dedicated sound-cards. More sata 6 ports, intel internet chips, msata connectors for wifi and ssd's

The ram is overkill, you won't notice the difference between this and a 1600mhz kit half the price. You don't need a fan controller with this case, it has one built in. The case is a personal choice, I don't like it but large fans are quiet. The ssd has a bit of a bad reputation though, you might want to consider an other one You might want to consider a build with the new socket 1150 though. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_1491&products_id=23627 http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=187_346_1490&products_id=23495 The gtx 770 is also out, these are faster than the 7970.

Which is better the better pc?
Erik005 replied to byZora's topic in Hardware and software discussion
You will be disappointed with either of these laptops. The are only meant for office work. You can either buy a good second hand laptop or save up for a better laptop. -
In the older generation only the atoms and celerons where available as solder on versions, but now the high end chips are available as solder version. The graphics in the desktop versions aren't that impressive but the mobile processors have medium end graphics.

No it is a new architecture they just didn't focus on the processor part this time. The goal with these processors was low energy consumption and improved graphics performance.

For windows 7 or 8 64 bit will only be the better choice if you have more than 4gb of ram When you buy the oem or new system builder version you have to choose between 32 or 64 bit. The full licence windows 7 contains two disks but is more expensive. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116716 Technically a store is not allowed to sell oem versions without a whole new pc but some will

Where is windows 7 64 that more expensive? When you buy a full windows version you get a 32 and a 64 bit disk.
-
64 bit operating systems used to have a lot of problems and 32 bit used to be the norm. XP-64bit is a horrible operating system indeed. But this changed with windows vista an subsequently most pc's with windows 7 are 64 bit. So the driver support is very good now and 32bit is becoming rare.

I think this would be a little over budget, but is is 500gb, There have been concerns about the durability though. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147190 The pro version is a lot better but also more expensive.

The Samsung 830 is also an ssd to consider it is almost exactly the same as the m4, but I found that updating the firmware is a little easier. (I get nervous with the dos upgrade procedure) You should buy the cheaper one if you have to choose between the crucial and Samsung.

Why not buy a good computer in one go, you're just going to lose money on this deal.

Rest assured haswell will not be a lot faster than Ivybridge concerning the cpu part. It will bring a lot of changes to the igp though. And from what I've read about the bug is that some usb 3.0 sticks may have problems when the system comes out of s3 state. It sounds like a power issue to me, the chipset can't power high speed usb sticks with a certain controller when it comes out of sleep mode, for me it isn't a big deal because I don't use sleep mode.

Looking into a custom Sager Laptop

There is no problem but you wouldn't notice the difference between the two, so you could save some money. -

It looks good, but you can save some money by getting the crucial m4 instead of the intel ssd -
gaming laptop please help!!!
Erik005 replied to joelgleason's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Isn't the 6310 the igp of the e-350 processors and its sucsessors? I doubt that this will provide decent framerates. -
Your case is perfect for the single radiator watercoolers, in most cases you will lose the only out-take fan My first thought is to install it in the horizontal space right above the processor but I haven't seen any real evidence that this would cool better.

Microsoft Windows, goodbye and good riddance to you
Erik005 replied to Werne's topic in Hardware and software discussion
I have never had a blue screen on windows 7 and I haven't seen one on windows 8 yet. So I'm sticking with windows for now Also it doesn't download updates every day, so please don't spread lies. I've noticed most problems with windows are caused by oem's pre installing bloat-ware. And I'm afraid that a dell or acer Linux computer will have the same bloat-ware -
Please Help - Skyrim Custom PC
Erik005 replied to ffsplz's topic in Hardware and software discussion
You might be better of with this processor. http://www.techspot.com/products/processors/intel-core-i5-3350p-31ghz-socket-1155.87414/ Graphics card, with 3 monitors you are lokking at graph 3 a single 7870 might not be enough. Ram: just get 8gb 1600mhz. SSD: The samsung 830 or 840 pro. HDD: There arent any bad drives arround anymore. Motherboard: http://www.techspot.com/products/motherboards/msi-z77a-gd65.83960/- 2 replies

Buy or Build? any help would be great
Erik005 replied to rockygohard18's topic in Hardware and software discussion
That is not really a gaming PC, it is more of an all-round multimedia PC. The gt630 is not really fast enough for full HD gaming, and the core i7 is not needed for gaming. -
CPU Changeover or quite possibly adding one...
Erik005 replied to scotty94's topic in Hardware and software discussion
You can't change the CPU in your laptop, the amd apu's are soldered to the motherboard. -
For a pre-built system it looks good, I really don't like the shop though. Alternate is pretty bad when it comes to after-sales. This would be a better option http://www.salland.eu/product/1174934/tweakers-net-mainstream-gamesysteem-januari-2013-tw-game-0113.html Quality parts is very important
