  1. the PSU has no idea what its powering. AMD, Intel, etc. its just a marketing thing. yeah thats right all electricty is exactly the same no fluxuation or change in frequency why do you suppose oscilloscopes were invented ,and given the fact there is no difference in the price of equilivalent AMD/Intel psu im more inclined to beleive what i was taught in college than your "just a marketing thing" that and my own experience of customers saying " it worked well enough for the first 6 months until i ...." All motherboards use the same standards, the board is powered by a 4 or 8 pin cpu connctor and a 24 pin main power connection. The voltages are fixed DC, all psu's can handle both intel and amd boards. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATX
  2. When I had a better look I noticed the second card is a ti version which is faster. Amazon search gave the wrong product in the first link.
  3. 1 The power rating is bull it takes in to account very bad power supply's. The 7750 gets all its power from the motherboard, the 650ti needs an extra 6pin power connector which your power supply doesn't have. 2 You need a good 450W power supply like the XFX 3 The first one is faster and is cheaper :teehee:
  4. The simple answer is: With the 7750 you can use your current power supply. With the 650ti you need a new power supply. Both will run skyrim, but you have to decide how much money you want to spend.
  5. You already have 1024mb dedicated memory, adding any memory won't help unless you are using an external screen.
  6. I don't think your missing anything with the z68 chipset. You would just waste money if you would buy a z77 board, you already have one of the best socket 1155 boards available.
  7. You mean low bandwidth like PATA? The slow read and write to a 5400rpm laptop drive ruins performance, these drives don't fill the SATA I bus.
  8. The whole experience on a pc is made by the HDD anyway, processors are overpowered since the Intel core i series came along. If you want just want simple office tasks you get an atom or an AMD E350/450 board I once had a laptop powered by a core i3-330m and it was so dreadfully slow I was going to sell it. I put in my older Intel ssd to sell it and it felt as fast as my current desktop in windows, internet and office tasks that really puts things in perspective. I only bought my current socket 2011 system because I was bored and had 800euros to spend.
  9. You probably just got a bad one, every company seems to suffer from this. As long as it isn't a fatal flaw with all the products there isn't a really big problem, it just sucks that you got a bad one I understand that. I don't understand what the whole fuss is about with these closed loop watercoolers, they are louder and more expensive than the good air-coolers.
  10. You won't be able to play a game on any of those systems. The videocard is very weak and not even meant for gaming. You need at least a gt650 or hd7770 to game properly.
  11. As I see you are dutch, you should look for a laptop on this site: http://www.bto.eu/ or http://www.xnotebooks.nl/
  12. Most of the Quadro and Tesla cards are physically the same as Geforce cards, they differ in driver support for professional applications and amount of memory.
  13. The new a10 processors are very good the igp's of AMD are far superior to the intel ones. AMD has made every gpu under 100 dollar/euro obsolete. The Fusion processors are the only choice for a HTPC AMD is always first to implement new features on their motherboards, they where first with both sata3 and usb3.0. Intel is very slow to implement new chipsets, not to mention the huge blunder with the 6-series. For high-end they have given up hope the first bulldozers weren't any better than the phenom II X6's Now the new processors are finally on par with the Intel but they have a high power-draw, they are basically making the mistake Intel made with the pentium 4's So the question is not as simple as it looks, the best answer I can give is: Low to mid-end AMD, Mid to high-end Intel.
  14. You wouldn't need to format, just check if you have to do a bios upgrade.
  15. If you already have a FX6100 your best option for an upgrade is the 8350, because with an Intel processor you need to get a new motherboard.
  16. Have you tried manually installing a direct x package from the Microsoft website or game CD?
  17. Yes but the 4800 series draws a lot or power, they also get very hot.
  18. The 7750 is definitely the best option , and it should run on anything but pico-psu's
  19. I think you are best of with the asus card, I heard good things about it. The recon3d cards have not been well received, they have a bad reputation.
  20. That is exactly what I meant, the brands Korodic mentioned buy barebone laptops and then you can choose what hardware you want to put in it. In my tiny country we somehow have two of these manufacturers and that's where I will buy my laptops. These companies do exactly the same as the major brand models they buy barebones, only the big brands offer a limited choice and with these you get a better deal and totally to your own wishes.
  21. Look for brand where you can customise a laptop? Such a laptop would be a better choice. Look for xnotebooks.
  22. Alternatives for the asus card are the gigabyte twin fan model, or the sapphire model. http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/zardon/sapphire-hd7850-overclock-edition-review/ The sapphire card seems very good.
  23. Do you mean the hd7950? The powersupply will run a system with the 7850 but not with the 7950 or any other cards that require more than 1 6-pin connection.
  24. Your system uses max 300W the 500W listed on the manufactures site means that even the worst 500W PSU should be able to power the system, a good 450W like the xfx one above would be fine. The asrock boards are as good as the asus boards and the difference between the two boards is probably the crossfire/sli options. The asus directcu II model is superior to the powercolor model. The extreme4 has SLI, two more usb2 ports, two more usb3 ports and a PATA connector. The extreme4 would be better should you decide to add another 7850 in two or three years
  25. Do not get a cheap PSU if you want your PC to last for 3 years. You could change the motherboard to a asrock z77 pro3 or pro4. These boards are cheaper but they are also very good. If the price difference is about the same as here in the Netherlands the change in motherboard will give you the money to get a HD7870.
