Last week I downloaded a bunch of mods for Skyrim because I was trying out vortex for the first time. (I followed it step by step) It worked fine. Then today I wanted to start a new game, so I downloaded the mods I wanted. (Here is where I say I attempted to) because it kept saying I need an app that handles NXM and the Microsoft store is out of them) What might be the problem? I downloaded Morrowind and Oblivion which might have messed it up :dry: IT HAS BEEN FIXED. I clicked off the button that handles nexus downloads, in 'settings' under 'downloads'. I switched it off when I was running through 'settings', to get a glimpse of what each one does. (BTW: I still don't know) :laugh:

Okay start the skyrim launcher...check Here's the confusion...I start the mod manager...nexus....and all the mods load up...with every mod...a small square beside each one where I can check or uncheck them depending on whether I play them. I check off I skyrim, update, dragonborn, hearthfires, dawnguard, unofficial legendary patch, highres texture pack 01,highres texture pack 02, highres texture pack 03, High Resolution Patch, which will give me simple skyrim game...there are Mazors Initiative Magic, SneakTree Remade,, Better_Skyrim, Better Magic_Full, for example that I don't want...as in I don't want to use them any more...and don't want to see them in my game period...although they load even though I've gone into steam and unsubscribed them...(and yes I've shut down my computer) there are 23 mods in all that keep loading each time I run skyrim...when you say start skyrim launcher do you mean launch skyrim after loading all the mods after the (NMM) has started..or do you mean starting the game skyrim from my computer...It has a skyrim launcher as well. If I let everything load from within the (NMM) and then launch the skyrim game...I cannot get back to the (NMM) to uncheck the mods then...I think I'm getting confused by the word skyrim launcher ​footnote under tools there are...disable...and...uninstall active mods...do they work or will I make it worse?

First off, I'm sorry if this is not the right forum. I first got interested in DLC, a few years ago. I was always playing the same mods though, and decided to try something new. All the mods were focused on different things so not to cause any confusion. When I loaded the game of skyrim, I had about 17 mods to load on top of the game. I went into steam and unregistered a number of the mods, with the exception of quite a few. I realize that a lot of mods are not updated any more, so one of my questions is how do I stop it from loading all the time? (one of the culprits is by the modder 'DEFAULT') Even when I went back into steam and unregistered some of the mods, they still showed up. I uninstalled the game, and even nexus mod manager. Added some more mods because the game showed only, dragonborn, dawnguard, and hearthfire. Now I have about 30 mods all loading before the game starts, and I get that much older each time I play the game. <----- exaggeration(sp) on my part. What am I doing wrong? :confused:
