So now that we've found the interest we just need a sign up sheet for modders... And, apparently, a construction set to do it with. ;) Any modders interested?

Alright, I suppose that's fair. Actually I suggested it on the Fallout forums as well and nobody responded to that either. Can't remember if it was for FO3 or NV...
Still, a moving house would be pretty awesome. Somebody made a floating castle-type thing for Morrowind. Basically it was a big imposing building in the sky with a spine that stretched down to a door that would be sitting someplace in the open. Like the TARDIS, the house could teleport to most of the major cities in the game.
So really I just think it'd be neat if somebody made a mod with some of the elements of a TARDIS, not necessarily a Dr Who mod. Not rooted in one place because it can teleport, all the amenities one could want inside, bigger on the inside so it can be cleverly placed in cities. And in all honesty the whole thing would fit rather nicely into the lore; it could've been a mage's experiment or a collaboration between mages and dwarves or something, lots of explanations.

Wow, no love, eh?

In Oblivion someone made a TARDIS mod (you know, the phone box time machine from Doctor Who). It was a little lacking in my opinion, but still a pretty useful and fun mod. Does anyone else think it would be awesome to have a TARDIS or TARDIS-like house mod? Basically the mod would consist of some sort of small, enclosed shack or box with a door on it (likeness to the real TARDIS optional), small enough to possibly fit indoors. Once inside you discover that, through magic or other means, the interior is far bigger than the exterior! Total size is debatable, somewhere between a large mansion and a small city. The next amazing discovery is that the box can move, disappearing one place only to reappear elsewhere! Of course these discoveries, as well as finding the box to begin with, could all be woven into quests as intricate as anyone pleases. And, of course, what perfect player home would be complete without all the crafting tools, forges and benches you could ever need? Maybe even a replicator-like device to conjure what ever your heart desires, if you really want to cheat... Now that could be a quest within itself, unlocking various levels of the replicator's capabilities.
I figure the teleport system of the box could be handled via conversation menus; the Oblivion TARDIS used buttons, one per destination, convo menus just seem so much cleaner and simpler to me. As for the design of the place, who knows! The important thing is that the "control" room look suitably impressive and mysterious. I think it would be cool to make it look as much like one of the Dr Who versions as possible with the materials available in Skyrim, with a big central console to pick your destination, lots of random tools, books and junk lying around, that sort of thing. A swimming pool is nearly mandatory, preferably with that lovely steaming hot water we have in Skyrim, maybe a waterfall feeding it, possibly some indoor greenery scattered here and there... Of course, it couldn't really be a TARDIS without the wardrobe, either, probably complete with lots of mannequins, wardrobes, cupboards and shelves full of, theoretically, all of the clothes in Tamriel, or at least the non-unique clothing. As for accomodations, there should probably be a few to a few dozen elaborate rooms for guests aside from the kingly master's room... A modified Dwarven theme might work really well for the place so long as it was better illuminated than the ruins.
As for travel locations, the box should be able to go to all the major cities, plus a few other important landmarks, and it'd be cool if it was sort of randomly placed, inside inns or mead halls, under bridges, on boats, in houses, that kind of thing... It'd be even better if it materialized in one of a few random spots within each of the major major cities or towns, so you're never far from where you intended to go but at the same time never know exactly where it'll end up. Not sure if that's possible with the tools available but it's something to think about.
What do you guys think? Anyone interested?

And on that note, it's a shame the game can't simulate muzzle climb...

Actually I think putting the digitizing laser in an abandoned house or small bunker could be cool. I've always thought something like the Grid would make a sweet player home, even if it was just a relatively small area. And think of it from a character's perspective, most raiders and there ilk would ignore a computer as if it weren't there, so what better place to store your valuables!?
And if there were plans to expand beyond just a player home then successive expansions could be portrayed as opening new connections to bigger systems. I'll bet those circuits in Mr House's supercomputer would be a wild place to wander...
Then there's the question of how to style it... Would such a mod be best as a replica of the Grid in TRON or would it be better to envision the Grid as it would have been written in the Fallout universe? Getting back to House, it seems he already lives in such a world with his electronic concubines.
It'd be kinda like a total conversion and yet not, since one can always drop back into the real world. Perhaps you could even unlock doors and bypass security systems from inside the computers, wherein breaking the access codes would be represented by finding your way through mazes or completing other challenges instead of requiring real world hacking skills. This idea has a lot of directions it could go if some good people took up the torch...

I remember the tardis that was made for Oblivion. It was pretty cool in theory but the medievel components made it a little silly and it always seemed incomplete to me.
Anyhow, there is plenty of high-tech junk in the wasteland that could be used to put a tardis interior together but I imagine there will be a lot of argument about just how it should look and be laid out. Personally, I want to see the pool, styled kinda like the one in the Ultra Luxe, a library and the wardrobe, preferably a ridiculous multi-level affair as seen when David Tenant took over as Doctor. Not sure how to make it look like there are clothes on hangers, though, seeing as all clothes in the game are folded... Anyhow, throughout all of the series it's slowly been let on that the inside is a whole lot bigger than the couple rooms they frequently show and it would be nice if a Fallout version reflected that.

Well does anyone know how open the AI code really is? This topic is moot if it's all locked...

Seems like a unique and expensive way to treat a crippled limb... :P Seriously, though, I think this would add a very Deus Ex element to the game and perhaps a new depth to game play. Not sure how well it ties in to lore, but then again we do have cybernetic implants in NV and Rex is a cyborg. Perhaps these upgrades would be available at a specialized clinic, or once you've replaced a limb you could canabalize hardware to make your own upgrades, dependent on repair and/or science skill.
It'd be crazy to be able to have the option of making a full cyborg body, such as the one below, complete with rad resistance, a higher DT, the built-in weapons that deny the use of conventional weapons as you've mentioned, and perhaps nightvision or built in stealth systems. Maybe you'd even have to burn microfusion cells or fission batteries to keep going; could be an amusing change for hardcore players if that kind of coding could be done.

I like the idea of really being a part of the brotherhood. It always bothered me what Elder McNamara says when you become paladin, to always keep them in your heart, makes it sound like you did a good deed and got an honorary reward rather than actually being a part of the organisation. Furthermore, it always bothered me that Hardin was plotting a mutiny and you never have the option to turn him in.
Seems to me that the battered T-45d suit should be the reward when the lockdown is lifted whereas becoming a paladin you should be issued BoS T-51b armor and one of those gauss rifles you see them patrolling with.
If you did make it to head paladin it would be cool to be able to grab paladins and lead raids against the legion or something; conversely, if you were just a paladin it would be cool to join the rest of em on raids. Kinda like Operation Anchorage, in a way... On that note, maybe instead, or in addition to that, you could be given permission to use the VR training pods. That would obviously be a lot more work, but it would be pretty sweet and work around the problem of having limited targets to strike.

Trust me its not simple. Its rarely ever simple.
Well, the pipboy has already been removed, made invisible, made transparent. So that part is taken care of. All we need to do then is put a watch on the wrist, and when tab is pressed the regular animation plays and all that shows is the pipboy menu without a pipboy. Alternatively, somebody can add rays of light projecting from the watch. Seems simple enough for me. I'm just hoping somebody can point me to some resources, give me some advice, answer my questions when I have them, and I might be able to do it myself.
Amusingly enough, the glitch with the Readius not showing up until the player's arm stops moving would be a benefit here; the projection would be invisible until your arm is up... I do like this idea, though, maybe it could be styled like the holographic computer interfaces in the Mass Effect series? Could even be Cerberus special issue. Alternately, maybe you could make it an earpiece with a tiny retractable projector that goes right over your eye when the pip-boy button is pressed like in the original Perfect Dark.

How about the FBI's new anti-materiel rifles chambered in 20mm Vulcan? With your choice of High Explosive, High Explosive Incendiary, Armor Piercing, Armor Piercing Incendiary or Armor Piercing Discarding Sabot ammunition. Also available with suppressors in select counties, check your local firearms dealer for details. :P

I would definitely be in favor of an M14 in New Vegas. Having semi and full auto variants makes sense, too, because a good portion of the M14s made were converted from full auto to semi to save ammunition, and obviously full auto for a marksman rifle would be pointless. Given these variants, it would make sense to have a low power, ACOG-type scope upgrade for the automatic version (I would actually vote for 2x myself) and maybe a 10x Leupold Mark 4 LR/T for the semi-automatic rifle. Bear in mind, however, that the automatic M14s were nigh uncontrollable when fired as such since a .308 has a good bit of kick; this is why light machine guns are pretty much all 5.56mm even though they weigh upwards of 15 lbs.
I'd also love to see a sniper-style wood stock for the marksman rifle, such as this laminated one from Wenig (though obviously in more natural colors), perhaps as an upgrade that adds weight but decreases spread:
http://www.wenig.com/jpegs/m1a_scope_stock.jpgAs far as magazines go, standard issue was 20 rounds and the only larger ones I've heard of in .308 are for the Galil and they'd look silly on an M14 even if they did fit. On the other hand, civilian magazines are 10 round, so maybe you'd find the gun in some civilian hunter or gun enthusiast's house with the 10 rounders then find the 20 rounders elsewhere as an upgrade to either of 'em. That makes two upgrades for the auto version, three for the semi version and I honestly can't think of anything else I'd want on such a rifle that would make a real difference in the game. Well, maybe the varmint rifle's night scope instead of the Leupold for the semi-auto, but with the Leupold's 10 power magnification and with either a plain crosshair or non-illuminated mildot reticle instead of the fat hunting crosshair.
Actually, now that I think of it, the auto version could just be called an M14 and come standard with iron sights with the option to upgrade to an ACOG and the semi version could be called the M14 Marksman and come with some sort of magnified scope with the option of upgrading to the aforementioned modified night scope.

okey a little update...
My wacom tablet broke earlier today, so I got no way to paint my models at the moment,
this will mean it will take me a bit longer for me to release everything, not going to bother painting with just a mouse, because I will probaly end up throwing it trough a wall....
however if anyone is good at texturing and want to give texturing my models a try, send me a private message, and maybe they can release a version, and once I get my wacom up and running I can create my own version of the texture!!!
Does this mean the helmet and glove meshes are done or will they be put together some other time?
-
Although they certainly wouldn't have the know-how to operate it. :P Hell, they might not even believe in using such tech.

Unless it was changed for NV (which I don't think it was), you need to make the game recalculate movement speed, like this for example
player.damageav rightmobilitycondition 1 player.restoreav rightmobilitycondition 1
after you set speedmult.
most of the time yes, but the game recalculates movement speed when eqipping and unequipping items already so for armor it isn't necessary.
Well on that note, how would one circumvent a change of speed when equipping a weapon? (It's silly that this happens at all since you're still carrying the weight of the weapon regardless of whether it's on your back or in your hands.)
And getting back on the original track of this thread, do we have any news about the armor? O.o
-
And it's "RunSpeedMult" for modifying run speed only. I messed with that one in the geck for FO3 sans NVSE when attempting my own power armor overhaul (amid the dozens out there).
-
Yeah I always imagined Female PA to increase agility and speed more-so than power and defense. As you know (not being sexist, being a realist) Females tend to be weaker but more flexible and agile, where-as Males tend to be stronger and more sturdy. Now as for how this wil translate in game I could not say. Increasing speed and agility in FO doesn't seem to work very well, or is very limited in what it can actually do. It also increasing run speed and jump height would only make a difference in certain situations.
At the very least we get a good looking female PA that has the illusion of increased agility.
However this ends up so far it looks great and I believe it can only get better, keep up the awesome work dragonhunter.
I hadn't thought of the stats but you're right, increased agility would make sense. along with increasing the run speed and jump height, it's also possible with NVSE to decrease reload time and increase firing rate of whatever weapon you're using. maybe add that as well?
Reload rate, sure; fire rate, no. At least not with automatic weapons since clothing should have no effect on the working internals of the weapon, but then again, it might make sense if you could limit it to only bolt/pump/semi-auto weapons. And modding movement speed has been done, as with the Powered Power Armor mod, but I think limiting it to run speed multiplication would make a bit more sense as well as not making the walk animations look silly. Furthermore, it would be great if NVSE could allow the armor to keep equipped weapons from slowing you down, as you will notice when drawing a heavy weapon you usually slow by 5% or so. As for jump height, I've heard there are issues modding it, but workarounds, too...

Looks awesome, although the area around the neck looks a bit silly with the helmet off, any thoughts on adding a rubber gasket or something similar to the texture there?

Does anyone else find it silly that the Mr Handy/Mr Gutsy robots float around on a rocket engine all day? I mean seriously, Mr Handy is supposed to be a household robot, how can he help around the house if he's lighting the carpet on fire? Not to mention the fuel efficiency issues...
Anyhow, what I humbly request is a return to the classic FO/FO2 Mr Handy/Mr Gutsy that had six arms, a fission battery power plant/SECs and ducted fans.

Mr Handy Article on Fallout Wikia
If you wanted a modernized twist to it, you could even add a securitron-style TV screen to it's barrel chest with the face of some pompous butler!
On a related note, would there be any interest in a Mr Handy added as a companion or player home appliance to fix the players stuff for free? Or a Sergeant RL-3 style Mr Gutsy companion?

I think the reason they didn't have any was that they're classier than that... :P

TARDIS mod, anyone?
in Skyrim LE
Posted · Edited by r4y30n
Well an airship could be pretty cool, too, although in terms of new resources needed you would need to make more for such a mod. All the Dwemer ruins are mostly stone with metal work and ducting, etc added on top. For an airship you would probably need metal walls, floors, etc to be made since a wooden boat fused with Dwemer tech would look a bit silly. Of course, that could also be the point... A flying boat made from cannibalized Dwemer tech, maybe some sort of harness with thrusters or some sort of magic anti-gravity devices or something; somehow I think the Dwemer would be beyond simple zeppelins if they were making their own airship, but if it was cannibalized then maybe it could be as simple as a Dwemer steam sytem that keeps a balloon inflated...
Another theory I have about the TARDIS-type mod is that it could add a non-canon piece to the puzzle of the Dwemer's disappearance: Over the course of a decade or two they all went off to other planets, realms or planes of Oblivion (as suggested in one of the books in Skyrim) in such vessels, maybe the one you find is a prototype and thus smaller (on the inside) than the full-sized arks that would have moved the population en masse.
