  1. So having reinstalled Skyrim for the third time I got to wondering if this was a possibility given the game engine. I'm no modder though I am good at turning my hand to and quickly learning things, and given the fact that it would likely be possible to use existing animations, it doesn't strike me as being totally out of reach. This is really just about speculation. I've enjoyed Chivalry's combat a lot. Even with the dance of death and deadlier combat; even with deadly dragons and monsters, and set to expert/master; even using SPERG (lol) or harder sneaking mods, I still find the combat in Skyrim a bit poor. Chivalry's combat is on the face of it more complex, but far more accessible and easily learned. I've used all kinds of mods and combinations thereof, and the only time I really feel like the combat in Skyrim is of any worth is when Frostbite has me weakened and I've three or more enemies laying into me at higher difficulties and DD settings, etc. Even with mods, it's primitive and facile and often tedious. So what I want to explore is the possibility of assigning directional attacks to mouse keys as in C:MW - mousewheel up for a thrust, mwdown for an overhead, LMB for a slash right to left and preloading one from left to right. A short term timed parry/block rather than an infinitely held button, a feint function to counteract parries, all that business. There are already dodge mods and DW block/parry mods which add a layer of depth to the gameplay but not really enough to change it from slash/block spam. Though it does suggest that some of C:MW's features like dodging and smarter blocking/parrying would be implementable. It would obviously also mean that the AI would have to be able to implement the same behaviours to react realistically, and certain skill trees or unlockable abilities redesigned. And presumably mean that the number of enemy NPCs was reduced so that the player stood a solid chance in some dungeons, or lowering difficulty (in Chivalry it is possible though difficult to take on multiple enemies, and pulling it off feels mega rewarding). But before I start to look into it I'd like some input from those who are more familiar with the CK and the limitations of the engine to weigh in and say whether or not this is even viable. This might just be some dumb pipe dream. Excuse the formatting, it got all wankered when I pasted it from the thread I made in the discussion forum.
  2. That's a big bummer. I was hoping that it was a known issue, but not that it would be one without a known resolution. Although the loss of functionality isn't game-breaking it's a bit of a kick in the teeth when you build a character's playstyle over 28 hours and then the loss of certain mods means you have to abandon that and all those skillpoints :P
  3. So some time shortly after finishing OWB I started the game and a few of my mods have stopped working correctly where they were flawless beforehand. I can't pinpoint the exact time but going back to a previous save doesn't fix it. A number of mods are affected, from the Renimated mods to MTUI, More Perks (a file not found error image where previously there was a perk image) BOG body and armour replacements, Immersive Karma and No Karma Loss for Petty Crimes - either the mod has ceased to function in the case of the latter, or there is a FNF error in case of Immersive Karma and all preceding it. I've tried reinstalling the mods with no success. I've even tried adding Immersive HUD/aHUD to see if that fixes the MTUI issue as the game really is unpleasant to play with the default dialogue boxes, but those refuse to work even with the 1.1 MCM and the .xml line edit. If anyone had any idea why the game would suddenly be behaving like this and how to fix it, I would be very grateful. Was there a patch released yesterday/the day before that Steam installed without my knowledge, perhaps? Running on W7, using Steam, FOMM and NVSE.
  4. Most likely a conventional MMORPG because it's a massive moneyspinner. Of course, if they had any integrity, dignity, or desire to innovate they'd try something non-dirty that retained the Oblivion-style interaction, gameplay and story without monthly fees and such, but that'd never happen in a millionbillionsquillion years. Tell you what'd work though: an ES version of Huxley.
