  1. Man...it's not working...i've done it many times but nothing works

Be sure to check the ini in the my documents folder too! Not the one in the root directory.

And thanks ghosu! :) :) :)<br><br>Also, rather than just adding that to the bottom of your INI, find where <br><br>[Launcher] is in the middle somewhere and add that line in at that point. <br>

  2. Okay, so my DATA FILES option within my SKYRIM launcher has always been grayed out and unselectable. Does anyone have any idea how to turn this back on. I need to select additional files within here in order to play the new levels I download. I'm really at a loss here???

    Please help!

    Jake

  3. As said in description, something happened with this file creation. Usually site bot automatically creates a topic of discussion for comments and feedback from users on new file uploads, but after double and triple checking, still no luck in turning on this function?!

One tab has an option to leave a comment and as soon as you comment, a window pops up saying

    "Topic_locked"

    Other tab just says:

    No topics at this time

There are not any topics to comment on at this time. If you have permission you can start one. If the author has turned off topic creation then you will have to wait for the author to create topics to comment on.

How do I create a topic if I can't even post a comment? Please help me figure this out. Only way people can comment is to email me.

    Thanks!

I have the same problem, if you find a solution, please say it

Might be better to start a new thread, or at least provide a link to the file. :)

For me the moderator did something on a technical end and fixed it.

  4. I don't need to open the mesh files at this time. I just need to know what the different file names are for please?

I see for example the following pattern:

dragonhelm_bronze_0.nif (In Inventory?) Nope sorry: ... All *_0 meshes and *_1 meshes refer to the character slider setting, i.e.* _0 for "skinny" player and *_1 for "fat" player, the game "blends" the 2 together to get the desired result

    dragonhelm_bronze_1.nif (Wearing Item?) =See Above

dragonhelm_bronze_go.nif (assuming go eatheral or reflectiveness?) Nope = this is the mesh for the 'ground' and 'inventory' versions

dragonhelm_bronzef_0.nif (Female In Inventory?) Half right = it IS for the female version, but see above for the *_0 and *_1

dragonhelm_bronzef_1.nif (Female Wearing Item?) = See above

If I am correct... Well please let me know either way and add any clarifications...

    Thanks!!!

  7. There is a Mod Manager that works great for me.

It is very simple to use it and should be no problem to install a mod.

I made my first modding steps with it, no problems yet

Many mods cannot be installed with the mod manager. See my mod descriptions for very detailed instructions on:

    How to install mods.

    How to uninstall mods.

How to create and make your own mods.

Lists of resources and how to use them to do so!

DragonPriestHelm HD Mask Replacers - with detailed HOW TO!

This mod as per an example can be installed with the manager, but MUST be renamed to work for your chosen mask worn by your character.

My goal is to make it very easy for anyone to create their own ideas and share them here on the nexus, even with very little PC navigation/directory experience! :) Has helped many already! See my comments! :)

  8. Fantastic work, really some of the best.

It really does deserve to be a big hit... but with only 100 downloads I don't think you can claim that yet ;)

I mean, you have about a 4% endorsements to downloads ratio. That's higher then CBBE's!

P.S. I like your glass weapon retex too. Will endorse them both after I run them in a bit.

Hey thanks so much for looking into this for me guys. It's not like I can endorse myself to see it it was working. The one guy must have something up on his end of things.

At 1st I was like, oh no! I renamed the file name on the page from the original file after I changed it all up. I didn't think I did anything wrong. So relieved!

..so again! Much appreciate taking the time to double check for me!

  9. Here is the file location: My link

Someone posted this in my comments section.

I'm trying to endorse your work but it keeps telling me I never downloaded it, so check out your files and find what's wrong.. that's probably the reason you have just one endorsment.

I put many many hours into this retexture and it seems that people are really liking it, but unable to endorse? What could be the issue with that? I definitely want to figure this out, but everything seems to be correct on the page.

    PLEASE HELP! :)

    Thanks!

  10. Wow. paint.net forum topics are awful, so installed it to see what i can see. Looks like anyone using it goes for something called TGATool to manage their alpha channels. But it doesn't look like there's any way to actually view/edit alpha information directly in paint.net.

    I'll look into that, thanks.

It's normally not necessary to edit the alpha channel, particularly with Paint.net. If you use the DXT5 with interpolated alpha compression format to save the files, Paint.net automatically sets the transparent alpha flag on the texture so any areas you have 'deleted' or made 'transparent' will be invisible or 'opaque' in game, no need for editing the alpha.

You can even use the 'Transparency' slider to adjust the 'opaqueness' of individual selections of the armor, good for glass armor for instance, use the magic wand or freehand select tool, select a section of the armor open the transparency slider, set it so say -75 and done.

I use Paint.net for pretty much all texture editing and only use gimp for the normal map generation and adding the 'mask' layer for the lighting/reflective alpha stored in there.

I'm not sure why you would need to convert the files to different formats though? It seems like an extra step for no real benefit, are you sung a program that only opens certain files or something? With a combination of Gimp and Paint.net (both of which support .dds files, and both of which have native formats that can save multiple layers, what other program do you need/use?

Great info here! Paint.net seems so limiting is all. I want to do more advanced stuff. Like with my Glass weapon mod. I added all the gold overlayment on the blades. There's no way I could do that with those free programs. Same with my Dragonbone set.

Don't laugh at me, Yes I am using Microsoft PhotoDraw; discontinued in 2000 and no longer even supported by Microsoft. But so many wonderful features and fast to do stuff that looks really nice. I have Photoshop, but it annoys me! For whatever reason, I love Adobe Fireworks for all my web stuff, but always hated Photoshop. Of course that was 10 years + ago when I last tried it. I have a recent version. Sounds like I should really just invest the time to figure it out.

I really appreciate the help guys. I see what is happening now and I just need to figure out where to go from here.

    THANKS!

  11. Are you using GIMP? This curiass has some data in the alpha channel, and I believe it's gimps default behavior to apply that as transparency to an image.

It doesn't fit very well, maybe left over from some previous state of production?

Yes, I use paint.net to open the DDS and save it to format that I can edit within another editor. Then ran into this with the glass armor.

A trick that game developers are known for is to map the section of a texture to multiple parts of the mesh. This increases the quality of the texture they can produce without increasing the file size. Do this a few hundred times and you've saved a significant portion of disk space.

My guess is this is what you're running into here.

Awwwh This make perfect sense now except that the translucent areas don't line up over the glass parts. Kinda odd.

If you use the colour picker (eye dropper) and open the colour info window you'll find that the there is no 'missing' parts to the texture, what your seeing is 'translucent' (partially see through) parts of the armor. This is incorporated into the 'Alpha' channel of the file so that the game knows to render that part of the texture partially transparent = Glass

Yeah, I see what you mean there.

I am still having difficulty figuring out how to save it or open it to allow for those parts to remain.

Or it seems that I am losing the "alpha" info while converting to different format and then back to DDS when done editing in my editor?

So, is there a way around this?

Or with Photoshop as an option, does the nVidia plugin allow for retaining this alpha transparency. I always got annoyed with PhotoShop and quit using it. Maybe this is my best and/or only? option?

And thanks for the replies guy! :)

EDIT: And where/how do I look to edit the alpha information? Does this involve coding? My goal would be to play with different levels of transparencies.

  12. So I have created new dragonbone armor that turned out awesome, but then I tried to open this glass curiass.dds and it has missing translucent spots all over it. Where is the rest of the file? I don't understand why it opens like this.??

    See pictures..

No, I am not making purple armor.. I just did a random effect to see what would happen. I just can't locate the rest of the missing textures.

    PLEASE HELP! :)

  13. Uggh. So I read through the entire thread, hit mulit-quote several times to respond with my thoughts on this, but apparently you can only multi-quote a single page at a time? Oh well, I will make my point the best I can, but I would have liked to send my personal appreciation many of the posters, so to the thread starter at least... Thank you for monitoring his thread to keep it positive and on the topic of what YOU wanted it to be. And of course for creating this great topic for starters!

Modding and installing mods is about personal expression and personal preference.

Modding = Personal Expression: This is where you get to be YOU and share you creations to the rest of the nexus community. My personal opinion is that spending time creating your own ideas is very healthy for the soul! ;) And when you share your creations, you are expanding your joy into other people's lives. I'd like to see many more people investing their time into these types of activities rather than veggin out on the TV for example. :nuke:

Installing Mods = Personal Preference: It always annoys me when people jump on a topic that doesn't suit them and say what they don't like about someone else's vision. People need to realize that if something isn't in their own best interest, that they can simply move on to the next topic and find a more suited topic to discuss that actually does make them excited or happy. It is one thing to point out their personal preference on a topic, such as the many comments I wanted to express my thanks for their attitude on; for example, "This is my vote!" "I'd like to see this implemented into your idea!" but wouldn't it be nice if there were no more, "that is stupid" - "you are wrong" types of comments?! ;) It's one thing to have an opinion, but everyone is right within their own context.

The 1st couple pages were quite disappointing as people were going out of their way to post a negative comments on something that they could otherwise simply not install and it would not effect their Skyrim experience whatsoever. I'm just trying to give people something to think about here... If you don't like something, simply move on to something you DO like. Ask yourself why you are investing your time posting a comment about something you do not like? This only takes away from your own personal happiness. So to those few that have this habit, please consider spending this time on what you DO enjoy.

Well for me personally, I would really like to see this come together! How fun to see these new characters in the game?! Great topic!

    "Thundercats.. Roar!" ;D
