  1. I wasn't the OP but thanks for these. Played NV a LOT but only just got FO3, I knew basically what kind of mods I was going to want just based on NV and the first 3 suggestions in this post are bang on what I wanted - saved me some trawling!

    Glad I could help, few things I should have added to my previous post. There are few must have mods that allow mods run better on your PC. Large Address Aware Enabler for FO3 assuming people are using FOSE and most important FO3Edit with this you can find fast load order problems and the main thing, for compatibility patches to FO3.

    Ill quote Antistar why this is important.

    - This is MANDATORY unless you use WMK on its own with no add-ons (such as compatibility patches or add-ons for DLC weapons); and even then it is strongly recommended as standard practice when using mods for FO3, as it may improve compatibility between mods you may be using (including - but not limited to - WMK).

    - Download FO3Edit v2.5.0 or above (http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=637) to create the 'merged patch'. This should be done after you have installed and activated all the mods you wish to play the game with (and have configured your load order using a tool like Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM)). This is how to do it:

    - Run FO3Edit, and a list of all the plugins in your Fallout 3\Data\ directory will come up, listed as per your load order. By default, the plugins you have activated in the Fallout 3 Launcher or in FOMM will have ticks next to them. This is what you want, so just click 'OK'.

    - Once FO3Edit has finished loading, right-click somewhere in the panel on the left that lists your activated plugins, and select 'Create Merged Patch' from the context menu.

    - Enter a name for the patch into the window that pops up (any name you like), and click on 'OK'.

    - Once FO3Edit has finished generating the patch (it creates a new .esp file with the name you entered), which should only take a few seconds, close FO3Edit. Click 'OK' on the window that pops up to save the Merged Patch that was generated.

    - Finally, make sure the Merged Patch esp is loading after all your other plugins (which it should already be, by default), and activate it using the Fallout 3 Launcher or FOMM.

    - If you ever uninstall plugins - or install new ones - deactivate and delete the Merged Patch, and then follow these instructions again to create a new one.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Start by getting Fallout Mod manager and Nexus mod manager. Then get, FWE - FO3 Wanderers Edition as main mod, next get Marts Mutant Mod. For Mods that add more NPCs wandering around that you can talk to, get MTC Wasteland Travellers . I also recommend Weapon Mod Kits as standard mod in every play through since it does ad a lot a flavor. weijiesen has some good texture mods that I use. And lets not forget Enclave Commander for those increased increased spawns walkthroughs.

    Mini Hideout as player home, its faster then visiting Megaton one and I like the vibe in this one better. If your going to use lots of custom armors Pipboy Readius is a must due to default pipboy cliping in some armors.

    Id probably throw in few mods like Crysis armor, Classic Fallout Weapons, NPC mods, but im sure you can find them yourself.

  3. Yes I know they are with Ordo Malleus, I was just thinking when GK go out on their little sorties its usually something big. Hence lots of oportunity for game to use lots of different grade baddies, from chaos to necrons. And who wouldnt like to get close and personal with demon with his nemesis force weapon. I guess what im trying to say is, they tend to stick with few stock chapters and ignore the variety of others. Why not make a Sisters of Battle shooter game on same engine or about custodians action RPG.
  4. Well I started lots of new games and one point even thought doing main quest. Bad idea, main quest realy should be left for time when you know the game very well. But the reasons to play Daggerfalls endgame were to recive deaderic daikatan and contract lychantropy. I did fail the later, but in process learned a lot about guilds and ranking up in them. WIth enough rank you gain access to item enchanter and spell creator and then the fun begins. I confinded myself mostly city quests and avoided dungeons untill I got a cart and horse. Later I started to do dungeon quests, but usually took a big break after. What realy helped me at start was the Ebony Dager you can get through questions. Since it could harm most creatures, later I got nice upgrade when I managed to snag a mithril daikatana in one big dungeon. It was so worth it, geting the sword and high tailing it out of there, with monsters baying at the heels. And when you reach the outside, ahh what a relief.
  5. I guess DNF takes his place next to Daikatana over hyped overdone game of the year. Still it had some rough gems I enjoyed and the fan service was nice, But I wonder if Gearbox used some of the Colonial Marines assets in Duke Stadium. That place could have come straight from Ailiens and the chest busters were disturbing more so then in AVP 3.
  6. I still get nightmares from Daggerfall dungeons time to time. Its these damn sound sfx used there you walk in corridor a secret door opens, you hear it turn around and a skeleton screams at you. Gah I almost had an heart attack and lets not start with elder vampires, you walk down corridor turn a corner DEATH and somebody glides over your body. Still then there are the uncommon scares, like failed to pick up a side quest from barkeeper and his nice get killed. The barkeeper curses you, you exit from tavern to pitch black night. Only to be greeted by the dead nice who promptly slays you. Seriously at some point I refused to do undead dungeons in Daggerfall, it was especially bad when playing at dead of night. So now all my chars have phobia to undead, well for Daggerfall only Oblivion does not cause these kind of goose bumps thankfully. As for Daggerfall it one of my favorites, you can spend so much time there and once your hooked, your hooked for life.
  7. Playing with Ultra setting, lots of mods(PC) and no crashes in 2 days of playing. Wonder if its the problem with preorder version or corrupted STEAM version? Also never had that wierd spining head, bug, did anybody else even have it besides they guy who uploaded it to youtube?
  8. To answer your question Elsarian the game has both futuristic weapons and stuff or just "our" modern day type of weapons, like vise in armor department. I think the gauss rifle was inspired by Fallout 2. Mods add arsenal of weapons from HK416 to Mosin Nagant and other WW2 weapons. The best thing about the game is the feeling it gives makes you think your in eastern europe. Hell I can find similar places in my country minus the anomalies and mutants.

  9. Its a great game with nice little touches here and there. BUT it was to linear, buggy and most important no replay value what so ever. Could add in the vague way the ending is chosen, but ill let it rest. The buggs on the otther hand were bad, hell 2 game stoping bugs. Only way to advance was to download somones save files. Te worst one was the one where you manage to crash yourself under the lvl aka twilight zone. Its affter the scripted chase scene in depo. Now the good things, very nice feeling when visiting stations and surfce. And the bit about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in libary, also loved the models of armors, would so love to see them in S.T.A.L.K.E.R CoP. Combat was bit hit and mis, should have had aiming for all weapons and mele attack as seperate. And fighting some oponents close combat was a huge pain. Overall worth getting for story value, but dont expect yearly replay value of S.T.A.L.K.E.R or FO3.
  10. Since there is some time until SMP 2.5 will be released, I found another great mod and it did not disappoint me. Enter Sigerous Mod for SOC, first I heard from this was for COP. Then I found out its for SOC to. And I have to tell you our eastern neighbors have done awsome job. Ill list the changes that it adds.

     

    - significantly changed storyline

    - Organized a large number of scenes (like how to dump at the beginning of location, time to Yura )

    - Added a game system for the different characteristics of weapons, for example if you find two AK -74 , you'll see that their characteristics or the accuracy of damage - so different ... Sorry , but this may not always be seen, because there are cases when the same stalkers spawn several times, as for example on the ATU ..

  11. Right after reinstalling Fo3 again and updating then installing new mods with FOMM, I get constant crash. I suspect its due the mod load order, but havent figured out what might be the right one.

  12. WHat you do is repair the sentry bot, rest about 10-13 hours. In that time NPC will run and repair the protectron and run back launching the super mutant town attack script. So far this has worked fro me, by the way the reason the robot isn't there is because it catapulted itself somewhere into wasteland.
