  1. Well, I travel light with mods. Those are among the few with .esp's that I use, so those were the ones I focused on. But you may have a point here. "Send Companions Home" does have an .esp and does work. At least for me. Booted Cait, sent her to Tenpines Bluff. Re-recruited her before she got 10 feet. Used the "Send Companion Home" item, which was in my AID tab, then re-dismissed her, not choosing a destination, and it said "Cait is returning to the Combat Zone.". So I guess in my case it is Darker Nights and True Storms, specifically, not all .esp's. Sat down on a bench outside of Diamond City, waited 24 hours. Ran a good bit out into the wild to get away from any light sources. I can still see a very very long way off at midnight, which I didn't used to be able before. Sat there and waited for any kind of weather to activate Got bored opened console, used fw 04000859, and I got a nice, strong, vision-obscuring radstorm doing 2-8 rads per second (more during flashes of green lightning, less for just the rain). So that's GOOD. That's True Storms the way it is SUPPOSED to be, darnit. I should have to look around for shelter or be packing a good amount of Radaway. [EDIT: also hoofed it over to the glowing sea, which is now ambiently 12 rads/sec for me, the way I want it. You *should* need a hazmat suit or power armor for that, darnit!] Soo..... I have to conclude at least one of the earlier suggestions DID work, and I didn't give them time enough to trigger. Because 2/3 .esp's seem to be working now. cleared the storm via fw 2b52a, and I can still see for miles and miles again, at 2:00 am. For Darker Nights itself maybe it's just a gamma thing for the new patch... which... would be really nice if there was an in-game gamma slider.... grumble grumble... But that's a separate discussion. Or maybe i can't just use the "Wait" function, maybe I actually have to sit there and allow day to become night all on it's own, the slow way? I'll try that. But on review, it does seem that *something* in the earlier posts has things working for me again. Wish I knew exactly what, but hopefully it's detailed enough to help anyone else who googles there way here. Many thanks for the suggestions! at least one of them worked. I will report back on whether or not waiting the slow way for day to become night works for Darker Nights. [EDIT: waiting for dark the slow way doesn't seem to make a difference. still a lot brighter than it was before the bethesda.net patch. Everything else is working though. I may start a completely new game and see if that changes anything up, or re-unpack the relevant files from the .rar] [2nd EDIT: Darker Nights is again actually dark again!!! After some Windows Updates and some Driver updates (card is a NVidia GeForce GX 760, if it matters to anyone who finds this in a search)]
  2. D:\Games\Steam\Steamapps\common\Fallout4\Data, has no .ini's at allD:\Games\Steam\Steamapps\common\Fallout4, has Fallout4_Default.ini,no othersD:\UserName\Documents\My Games\Fallout4, has Fallout4Prefs.iniFallout4Custom.iniFallout4.iniIn each folder, I created a "Backups" folder and transplanted the existing .ini's out of the current folder, into the /Backups folder Then attempted to launch. Failed, saying could not detect an .ini, please re-download. Went to Steam Library, right clicked, properties, local files tab, clicked "verify integrity of game files" so it will get the necessary files. Then launched. The game did actually launch this time. Got message about "will now detect your hardware and set graphics" accordingly since my .ini's are not what they were. Before loading up a save, went to Mods, then load order, confirmed mods with esp's are shown, and are checkmarked, in proper load order. Then loaded up a save. (there was no message about missing files or anything) But ultimately, no change. mods look active in in-game menu, are checkmarked in load order tabdo not get any message about missing mods when loading up an old save from before bethesda.net mod patchbut Darker Nights is not dark, True Storms are not stormy like they were (though I *do* have volume controls for true storms in game settings / audio menu)Exited game Went to D:\UserName\Documents\My Games\Fallout4, adjusted these Fallout4Custom.iniFallout4.inito contain [Archive]bInvalidateOlderFiles=1sResourceDataDirsFinal= relaunched again. Still no change. looked over .ini's a bit more, saw the copy it downloaded has a potentially conflicting line with the above, becuase the downloaded copy also contains sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\ and then a bunch of lines naming individual standard files for science, deleted all that, so that the [Archive] section has only [Archive]bInvalidateOlderFiles=1sResourceDataDirsFinal= Launched again. Still no change. I am not yet running nexus mod manager (will install that monday if I can't find anything else before then, so I can't test that idea. But I have done something similar before renaming and letting it create new versions of plugins.txt and DLCList.txt, and it made no difference.
  3. Did not work :/ No dice for me either. But it was worth a shot for science, I hadn't thought to try that yet. Thanks anyway. At this point I'll try darn near anything.
  4. EDIT: if it matters... I do not use NMM. I know, I know, I probably should and I'm not far away from breaking down and using it. But I'm a bit of a control freak and I like manual installs.
  5. Same thing is happening to me. Anything without an .esp works fine. (True Eyes, Stackable Wood Foundations, etc) Anything with an .esp, does not. (Darker Nights, True Storms, etc) C:\Users\*****\AppData\Local\Fallout4\Plugins.txt is NOT write-protected.does contain my modsdoes preface each mod with an asteriskI have created a Bethesda.net account I have used the in-game "mods" and "load order" options All of my mods are checkmarked correctly in that. But the nights are not dark AT ALL. I can see for miles and miles at 2 am making out individual twigs in a tree on the horizon, clearly reading billboards 400 yards away, etc. And when a radstorm comes instead of 5-12 rads / sec with extreme green stormy-ness, i's under 1 rad / sec and you can barely tell it apart from rain. For the time being I'm simply parking my Fallout 4 game entirely and firing up Civilization IV for a weekend, hoping someone comes up with a fix in a few days, and seeing what google can find every so often.
  6. I agree the voice acting alone is probably going to stop this from ever happening. But if something like this ever DID happen, I'd request that please, please, please, consider additional options. Maybe the Dragonborn supported Ulfric, took down Tullius, but later has some real buyer's remorse, becomes disillusioned with Ulfric and decides he was never the idealist he seemed to be, but just another power hungry noble. Perhaps the Dragonborn can then switch sides, and strengthen Elisif's position more? Not enough to re-ignite a civil war perhaps, but at least to form a valid check against Ulfric's power, and restrain the man somewhat. Work with him against the Thalmor, but try to make it so that someone ELSE (Balgruuf?) becomes High King at the Moot.
