  1. I have been having issues writing a simple tutorial quest, and I got it to work by reinstalling Fallout and the Creation Kit, and turning off stem cloud so I could be reasonably certain of starting with a clean save from a "clean save" directory. Is there any special way that it should be set up to insure trouble free mod creation (and game play)? I read a post about copying the data directory to Bethesda/creation kit rather than using the game directory, is this recommended? Anything else that is good practice to ensure trouble free (or at least less troublesome) mod creation?
  2. ARGH! I thought I had it figured out, so I deleted all the quests and NPCs to start fresh. And now nothing works. I don't thinik it has anything to do with the quests, because I created an NPC with no quest or dialog, only a generic voice and farmer faction and she is silent also. What is odd is that the player will not initiate the conversation, the creeen displays "press E", but nothing happens when you do, no <cough> or "Hey", so it seems that the problem is possibly with the player. The quests seem to be running when checked with the console, but no talking. It can't be this hard, something else must be wrong, but I have no idea what. Any ideas?
  3. Last night I copied every setting from the NPC that initiated conversation to one that did nothing, and lo and behold, he worked perfectly. I am going to do some more comparison to see if I can identify what exactly causes them to not function.
  4. Yes, I used the automatic navmesh. Although I don't remember if I did it before or after NPC #1, I will make sure they are all over it tonight and see if that makes a difference. And I'm sure it's something stupid, if it were actually this difficult they never would have finished the game :)
  5. I am having trouble with dialogs, and would appreciate any help anyone is willing to provide. I started with making a new cell, putting a bunker in it, and linking a door to the main world, which I put on one of the containers at the vault 111 exit. No problems, then a made an NPC and put her in the bunker, again no problems. Then did Seddon's item fetch quest. The problem I ran into is I can not initiate any dialog with the NPC, she just sits there dumb. So I went back and did his dialog tutorial, creating a new NPC, voice, etc. and placing him in the bunker too. He sort of works, I get his initial greeting, but it never continues into the dialog. Once it looked like it might, switching camera views, but no dice. I did the tutorial two more times, comparing all 4 NPCs. The two newest ones are silent like the first one, and the second only does his initial greeting. I have tried every combination I could think of, forced greeting/not, start scene after greeting/not, unique voices/not, nothing seems to make a difference. NPCs 1,3,4 are silent, NPC 2 greets and that's it. Anything obvious I'm missing, or important but not included in Seddon's tutorials? This seems like it should be dead simple, but I can't figure it out.
