  1. Well, Skyrim resets the defaults for all the sliders/graphics settings based on what it thinks I should have after every update.. It deleted lines had added to the .ini files and reset others. So I think that does add to the problems. After 1.5 I was ready to go through and change all the settings, but it took a coupla days to figure out that I also had deleted lines.
  2. You could try verify game cache or reinstall from steam, should give you you files back.
  3. It sounds to me like you may have a script from a mod causing issues with your bed. I would try disabling all of the mods that might affect beds (like house mods, maybe follower mods, Whiterun mods, etc) and see if the problem is still present. I'm not sure what the effect of you disabling/enabling might have done, though. You might also try older saves and see if it is present, just in case it is a savegame corruption issue.
  4. It's a known issue. You can check out the The Elder Scrolls wiki when you run across issues like this; if it's a known issue it will probably be listed and may have a solution (as this one does). Could save you the time of waiting for someone to post back to you.
  5. Forgive me, but are you saying that your game is not working with NO mods installed, or that you uninstalled/reinstalled? You may find Bbens help blog to be useful.
  6. You may have Nvidia card update installation problems. It may solve your problem to read this link and follow the instructions exactly. NVidia changed their updating procedures but didn't really get the word out (it's all in the readme of their card download to, but no one ever reads readmes as we all know. It's an EVGA link, but it is not specific to EVGA-manufactured NVidia cards, it is for any NVidia card.
  7. Hi have SOS version 1.0.2, only the Wilds. I've been using it forever, no problem. I did start getting crashes when I updated SkyMo to version 7 from version 4, but not before. Just saying because someone else mentioned they thought the Wilds was causing problems when used with SkyMo. The latest SkyMo was double the file size of my version 4, with a lot more monsters/events, so maybe there were conflicts with SOS? I never thought so, I thought it was just too much memory load for my poor computer. Reverting to the older version was fine, again. I'm really sorry to here there are problems with this. I love SOS!
  8. Maybe to make Skyrim not Oblivion? What's the point of having 2 games that are exactly the same?
  9. I'm not sure you can keep Steam from updating you. Also, there are tons of mods that would no longer be compatible with the older version. Most I use require at leas 1.5
  10. Sounds like some sort of mod conflict, or remnants from a incompletely removed mod, maybe? Try following BBen's mod troubleshooting guide.
  11. Have you looked at your processes on the Windows task manager while playing? And also the performance? I agree w BBen that it could be an external program/process, and even having turn a lot off, there may be something you missed. Also, if you are coming close to your RAM, (or have a lot of reserved memory for other programs) it may be pausing to clear out available memory for you, and you can see that on the performance area of the task manager.
  12. I never have had a problem with this, once I reached the correct level on the skills tree. Maybe you have a mod affecting this in some way? Or maybe your character is just to pretty to be intimidating?
  13. Have you tried the steam verify cache files thing?
  14. Shadow striping is what you've got. You can fix it, probably, but changing your fShadowBiasScale value in your prefs.ini. (Make sure to use the one in C: username/documents/mygames/skyrim not the one in the programs folder) You may need to play with it a bit to see where it works best for you. Mine's set at 0.50. There are some other shadow settings that can also help. Check out the geforce tweak guide for Skyrim, even if you don't have a Geforce card, it covers basic settings and .ini tweaks that can help anyone. Also there are a few mods out there that address this, though I haven't used them. Btw, if you post a question that no one answers, it may be that it has been covered a bunch already (although sometimes it's just so unique no one has a clue how to help). This topic has a bunch of threads already, and a forum search might have been the quickest way for you to get your answer. Hope this helps/!
  15. This is just a thought, but is it possible the problem is not with what is missing but what you have kept? That is, could it be (for example) whatever mod you are using for the clothes, maybe conflicting with whatever you are using now for the body type? Or something similar?
  16. There are a lot of threads lately that have talked about loading screen hangs, have your done a thread search? Issues can be mod conflicts, file sizes/RAM issues, fps settings, .ini file text isses,...if you want someone to give you advice that is usefu to your specific situationl then you will need to provide specifics about what your computer specs are, what mods you are using, what changes you have made, what fixes you have already tried, etc. Also try Bben's help guide maybe? It's very thorough and easy to follow, I think.
  17. After reading this, I want to change my vote! I said Whiterun, but it's just my crush on Balgruuf talking.
  18. I thought that, then I married Muiri and she all did was thank me. Over and over and overand over and overand over again. http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/facepalm.gif LOL I meant physically expressive, like couples arm in arm, at least, or parents hugging their kids. I married the blacksmith at Riften once and he went from normal to creepy mushy-toned "yes, my love?" to everything. eeewww.
  19. 1. Fort Amol (i made myself, turns fort amol into a personal fort 2. Provisions (another homemade, adds a custom armor and sword) 3. Vendors have more money (a download, vendors will have more gold on hand) 4. Blackwolf lodge ( a download that i changed the interior of the house) Version 1.6.89.0.6 thats it Anti aliasing is off Im going crazy over this, i love the game but cannot stand the crashes I would suggest removing all of your mods, doing a complete uninstall.reinstall of skyrim both through steam and manually (including removing all old savegames) then the verify cache thing on steam. Play the game and see if it crashes. If it still does, it is probably related to your hardware or graphics settings rather than the mods. If you can play on just vanilla then it's your mods.
  20. I haven't used STEP, but I looked through it and noticed they have a whole forum to themselves, here; that might get your question to more folks with STEP expertise.
  21. My opinion on Skyrim relationships: 1) marriage to anybody is kinda empty in the vanilla game. 2) relationships between 2 NPCs are pretty minimal as well. With the exception of that creepy stalker Aerin in Riften, couples are almost never together at all. Even when you And then they seem to get away from each other as fast as possible. which brings me to: If there were a gay couple, it wouldn't matter because they would never be together anyway! I think it would be nice to have more expressive and positive relationships of all kinds, where people appear to be appreciating each other and not just complaining.
  22. Sooooo.....are you asking for help or just letting us know not to look for you at the Bannered Mare?
  23. Take a look at Bbens mod troubleshooting guide, it rocks. (also the CTD thread...) Just something to think about, I like to help people if I can, when I am taking breaks. I think my general strategy is similar to most people of like to help out. I look at the threads for ones that 1) have no replies and 2) are in an area that I might be able to help. Sometimes I look at threads that just seem interesting. I almost never look at a thread unless it is of particular interest that has 2 replies, the last by the OP, because I assume that someone else was helping and the OP had replied back. I just happened on yours kinda by accident. I know you waited like a day before reposting, just a thought on how your posts might look to others, and why they might not be reading it.
  24. I don't know that anyone could give you an answer, there are too many variables. What gpu do you have, and how much VRAM? If you have low graphics card memory, you may find that there are some texture/lighting mods that just wont work for you, and might be the cause, since you say your don't use the DLC. (I am speaking from experience, my card is so old it could qualify for retirement pay!) The best way to find the best settings, in my opinion, is trial and error. Start low and work up till you have problems, or start high and work down til it looks good. Two people with the same exact card and GPU could have small differences due to the manufacturing process that might cause them to prefer different settings. Edit, just reread the post about the problem doesn't start when you play...sounds to me like you are overstressing your card, either with resloutions too high or the card might be overheating? Have you used something like CPU-z or a card-specific program to see how your specs are in game?
  25. I agree with Tetradite: I don't visit the debates area very often, but I enjoy it now and then. Moderators ensure the area remains for debate and does not become a troll-magnet. Thank you to all of the moderators, btw. Every time I visit the site I am extremely grateful for the safe and supportive environment you create!:armscrossed:
