Kombuster is going to test your stress levels after overclocking, it's not what you need. Can you look on your graphics card and tell me what is written on it?
-
I will try...but I may need more info. Have you already tried basic computer optimization? (Cleaned your cache, defragged, scanned for viruses shut down background programs, etc) Are you using something like CPU-Z to monitor your computer, and if so, what is going on at the crash? (For example maxing out on RAM or VRAM, temps....or does it look normal?) Are you overclocking and if so have you tried going back to the default settings? Are you using anything to limit your fps (Thanks to Kievkev, I found that 30 fps was causing my loading slowdown, and fixed it simply by going to 35) Did you change anything before you noticed the problem (new gaphics fdrivers, updated to 1.6 patch, even stuff like new antivirus program, etc) Have you disabled the autosave option, tried saving indoors and waiting a week in-game time to reset? (Although with vanilla skyrim this may not be relevant) If you ever made changes to your .ini files the 1.6 patch may have overwritten them, and also changed your basic skyrim graphics settings....have you rechecked these and fixed as needed? If you've done all that, and it is still not working: What are your comp specs (Processor, RAM, CPU and VRAM) Are you running the official steam version, with the latest patch? How do you try to launch (skse launcher, NMM, steam) If you are using SKSE is it the latest one?

k try msi afterburner?
-
So you don't have your fps set still? I'm sorry I must have misunderstood you, I thought you have the Precision Working. It may not work with your graphics card manufacturer. You can find who that is usually by looking that the actual card in your computer. But if the EVGA doesn't work, you could try MSI afterburner, it works for a lot of people even without MSI cards. Your screen shot did not actually work. ;-( It has to be from a web site, not a hard drive. Can you tell me, if you use a mouse/keyboard and load using the steam interface, are your load times any better? Do you have the steam autosync turned off? Are all other applications closed and your background programs disabled?

I have no idea how that affects fps. Are you running well now?

Hi, people have problems with that beginning sequence a lot. One solution is to uninstall your mods and then add them after your exit the cave... It is safest to add just 1 mod at a time and play a bit on it to make sure it works, otherwise if you add a bunch, you really don't know which is the issue. It seems like mods that affect NPC animation, cities (like populated cities), or adds characters/monsters are the most troublesome at the beginning. The other thing is. looking at your Boss-sorted list, although I don't have the same mods as you, typically WATER is wayyy down on my BOSS list, and i have to move it to absolute last to avoid crashes. Since you are just starting, it might be the most efficient strategy in the long run to begin vanilla and add mods one at a time, but in any case good luck!

Skyrim Black Screen on Launch No Sound
Georgiegril replied to nonja121's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Well, Kievkev figured out that setting your fps too low can cause a slow load (although maybe not a no-load, as it seems you describe). You could try changing your fps. I use 33 fps, but someone else said they get better results with 60. It is probably dependant on the specific variables of your system. You did follow the steps in Bben's blog post? When you removed all of your mods, were you able to load? Also did you try loading through the steam interface, no mods? -
I am sorry you are having such a hard time! I am not really clear on what you have done. I don't use the fps limiter, but rather the EVGA precision to limit my fps. However, if you go back to the fps authors page, there should be a lot of information available to help you. read the entire description, readme, and discussion thread. When you deleted the fps limiter, it may have either removed or changed you fps and that is what is affecting the game. Since you say you have Precision already downloaded, you could try opening that up, and moving the fps slider on the bottom to something like 35. Make sure to click the enable box and also click apply so that the change will take effect. If that works, yay! If you are still having issues: I kinda feel like we started this problem in the middle, and so backing up may help us figure this out. So, can you tell me the following? your computer specs-- what kind of processor, how much RAM, the maker of your nvidia card, how much RAM (you can get all of this info easily if you download and run CPU-Z, or on steam you can click on the help tab in the top menu, then click on system properties. What version of Skyrim? What graphics setting? (for example low-med-high-ultra, FXAA enabled, distance sliders, etc.) Does the problem occur when you set these lower? Do you use skse? How are you connecting to skyrim? (skse launcher, NMM, the basic steam interface, etc.) Was there a time that you were able to play Skyrim with reasonable loads and less skipping? What has changed? What mods are you using, and in what load order? Were there mods that you removed shortly before the problem began? Have you shut down background processes, like automatic updates, scheduled virus scans, cloud sync, IM, etc?

Well, kinda but there are a few more steps, if you get stuck you might read through that link. I hope the fps works for you! -
[Advice Needed] Skyrim Game Somewhat Corrupted
Georgiegril replied to kevinno's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Is that your load order? If so you may benefit from downloading BOSS and running it to optimise your loading. Otherwise, the suggestions I had may still help. Here is a link to Bben's troubleshooting post on his blog, it also may help. -

Are you using Deadly Dragons? -
Well, I know that a lot of serious and more experience gamers would agree with you. However, I have found that turning off background processes increases my games performance. I do have my antivirus on game mode, and MS auto-updates turned off, but I find it useful to be able to turn off all of those processes, and game Booster has a few other functions I like. I have seen various posts of people referring to using Game Booster on the Skyrim forums, so I am hoping there is in fact a way for me to use it? Even if the smarter people agree it is a waste of my time?:)

There is a fair amount of information on NVidia's website for NVidia Inspector, you can go there. If you download NVidia Inspector, there is a specific forum for NVidia Inspector, that might help. Personally I found the NVidia Inspector awkward, but lots of people like it. MSI afterburner is used by lots of folks, too. And if Precision is running well with your card, and you like it, then that might also be just fine. Like I said before the support on the EVGA forums are great. Also, CPU-Z is a free program that will give you information about your system, including GPU performance, if you find the driver utilities more than you need. Any of the above programs can help you limit your fps, which might help your load. Overclocking is not a specific fix for load time, as far as I am aware. Any of the above utilities can limit fps, and there is an fps limiter mod available on the nexus. Have you downloaded and run BOSS? Your game loads might be related to less than optimal load order, and BOSS can help you with that.

ROTFLOL! That is so awesome, I haven't seen that. I don't use the Unofficial Skyrim Patch, but I remember reading a post around the forum somewhere, in which someone stated that this mod was causing issues with animations/NPC behavior post 1.6--I don't know if this is still an issue but it might be useful to check the mod's site again and see if there is an update and/or if this is an issue. You could try verifying your cache through steam, just in case a file went missing... Other than that, unless someone sees this and has your solution, it seems like you might have to go through the basic troubleshooting procedure. Bben's blog post here might be useful to help you with that. Sorry wish I could be of more help!

Sudden and permanent drop in frame rate
Georgiegril replied to Chomerly's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Did you follow this procedure for updating drivers? The old way can cause problems, including the driver not responding to changes made by NVidia Inspector, setting clock to max without your permission, loss accurate temp readings/control, etc. Also, you can find a post that discusses the 301.42 drivers, there have been issues for some people related to the new drivers. The link I gave you also discusses proper rollback procedure (using the windows drivers functions no longer works, confirmed by both NVidia and MS.) Beyond that, some of us have found that lowering your frame rate to 30 causes massively slow loads, but 60 causes stutter, so you might try playing with your fps. I use 33-35 and it runs faster for me than 60. (I don't have your card, so of course your experience will be unique to your system.) Hope something there helps,! Good luck! -
This was a more common issue back in November but it looks like it has reappeared; I've seen a couple related posts. Since 1.6 I had something similar happen with me, just once, with my follower. I suspect it might have had to do with horses for followers or UFO, as my follower went spinning after dismounting. I updated UFO to the latest, removed HFF, since UFO has pretty much incorporated the functions I was using HFF for. I don't know for sure that this was what solved the problem, but I have not experienced that since. Hope something here helps you!

Hi, do you have an EVGA gpu? If not, yo might be better off with the driver utility software for your specific manufacturer. (like MSI's afterburner) Or NVidia's system tools utility. I have EVGA and I love the precision tool. In order to get the most out of it, you might want to register and take advantage of their forums, the people there are super nice and helpful. Here are two places that might help you get started: Proper diver update procedure (If you updated the old way, changes you try to make via any driver tool may not actually work, either having no effect or some unintended effect like turning your clocks to maximum.) ThePrecision site has a video that explains a lot of its functions. Also there is a manual that should have downloaded with your software, if you got it from EVGA. If you open the EVGA precision folder in your "all programs" list, you should see a readme file that has information that can help. If you are using this for more than just monitoring or fps limiting, (that is you are going to overclock) my advice is unless you are already experienced in this to read A LOT about overclocking on the EVGA forums, overclocking-devoted sites like overclockers.com or overclock.net, about your specific card/system and overclocking in general. Then proceed with great caution. Edit, just noticed this: You really will want to do a LOT of reading on proper overclocking, in general and specifically for your card before attempting any overclock. You can destroy your drivers if this is done incorrectly. Also every driver is unique so you will need to make very small incremental changes and test them to find what works for your card/system. Hope this helps, good luck!

Hi, Has anyone successful been able to use Game Booster with the skse launcher (in NMM) for Skyrim? If so, can you please tell me how? I can only seem to get it to start via bypassing skse, trying to load steam directly and them, crash. I googled it and found a thread saying there was a conflict with Gamebooster and Steam functions, so it wont work, but I used to use Game Booster with LFD2, no problem...I think the issue is the skse-steam loading sequence. (?) I'm using GBoost but I really prefer Game Booster, at least I did when I was using it for LFD2 on steam... Thanks!

What was the game that caused your gaming addiction to begin?
Georgiegril replied to Systex's topic in Classic Games
Heretic. Man, it seemed sooooo cool.;D At the time. However my all time favorite game (other than Skyrim, of course) must be it's antithesis: Quake III Arena. No story line, just kill, die, kill again. With big guns. As fast as possible. Very cathartic!:D -
You might try uninstalling all of the mods exactly according to the mod author's instructions (some mods, like UFO have pretty specific uninstall procedures that can cause lasting problems if not followed). Bben has a mod troubleshooting post on his personal blog that might help you... You could try posting all your mods (includiung any you uninstalled before the problem arose) and someone might notice something... Anyway hope some of that is useful to you!

These two links might be useful to you: RookieNoob's Tweak guide has tweaks for low end computers, and discusses their effects on both CPU and GPU performance. Geforce Skyrim Tweak Guide has 20 pages of various tweaks, how they affect your performance, most of which is applicable to any kind of graphics card. Both of these discuss shadows in detail, and may give you some other ideas to optimize your game. Good luck!
