cant continue or start a new game
Georgiegril replied to CrazyShadowDami's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
You may need to do a complete reinstall. Remove all mods, uninstall skyrim through steam, including delete local content, then manually remove any files that left behind, including save games. Reinstall skyrim without any mods. Play through where you exit the cave in vanilla. Then add mods, one at a time, after reading the mod author's readme and following instructions exactly. Run Boss and play the game for a while to make sure it is working properly. Turn off autosaves. Make any change to the ini files one at a time, and play to gauge each changes effect. Also, if you have NVidia drivers, readthis and follow exactly to make sure your drivers are not adding to your problems. Drastic, but should work. -
Well I have always saved the CW quest for last, but this time I solved it earlier. The most annoying thing about doing that are the innumerous references by NPCs to the war, as if it is still going on.

Well, the most recent update files have in my data folder are about 17KB. I think the issue may be not the size of the updates and your file limit, but the speed of your internet connection., as far as vanilla skyrim goes. However, in my opinion, skyrim is much improved by use of mods, after the first play-through, anyway. Adding mods can take a lot of your data limit, if you install a bunch (or even a few big ones)...but low bandwidth will cause the automatic download option on NMM to fail on large files. (this can be worked around with a manual install in many cases.) If you do decide to get the game, you may prefer to use NMM vs. steam workshop for your mods if you do have a slow connection, because the workshop goes through and checks/updates your mods every time you load the game, and that can be time consuming and annoying, even with a fast connection. NMM allows you to choose when and what to update, so you would have more control of your data. Also, you may want to consider turning the steam cloud sync off....

Hi, I have had that problem if I brought up the task manager in game, sometimes. I know I saw a solution thread somewhere, but I ended up just fixing the reason that I had to use the ctrl-alt-del workaround. (that is, fixed my load time issue) Anyway, I know how annoying that can be, but I couldn't fins the thread I had seen before. Instead, as painful as this is to me, I am offering a link to the Steam forums, which seems to have a pretty exhaustive collection of possible fixes. I kow you've already done some research, so maybe you've already tried all of them, in which case, all I can offer are my sympathies. Steam link

It sounds like you may have a problem related to a mod, or incorrect removal of a mod. Can you list your mods in their load order, and add any that you removed prior to the problem's appearance?

Although its possible the corruption is contained in the savegame...

No prob glad you got it sorted out!

If you have an Nvidia card, look atthis for proper driver update procedure. It has changes, but many people don't know this and it can casue major problems and could make your game look like this (and also kill your card) If you don't have NVidia, then you might try lowering your graphics settings. Also, have you checked the card temp while playing? Overheating can cause graphics problems (and kill your card) If this occurred after 1.6, and you had previously made any changes to your pref.ini, you might need to check that, since the patch overwrites the .ini files and may also have removed any lines you added. Deactivating will not remove all remnants of some mods, especially those that affect graphics or animations or questlines. You may need to go through your mods and uninstall completely, according to the mod author's instructions, in order to discover if there is a mod involved. (I hope this is not a double post...I wrote more or less the same thing a while ago and then noticed my replay never appeared. I apologize in advance....)

Well, you would need to uninstall them completely to be sure following the mod authors instructions for doing so, and then try verifying your cache on steam. If you had previously incorrectly uninstalled a mod, that could cause problems similar to what you are experiencing. In that case you would want to do a clean reinstallation.

The unrecognised mods can be ordered by placing them with similar mods (weapons with weapons, houses with houses, etc.) that might help some. Have your tried uninstalling the mods reference by your bug report, following the exact instructions of the mod author? I appreciate your frustration. You are running a lot of mods, and many that have overlapping functions. Maybe starting over with fewer mods, added 1 at a time, running boss after each and then playing to test it might work better for you than trying to fix the current collection of mods, if you are really at the end of your rope, so to speak. You might get more playing in that way. If you do that, you will want to make sure that you completely uninstall the game, including the delete local content thing on steam and then manually checking your computer to make sure all skyrim folders are removed. (also I think it helps to be sure to have the sync with steam cloud unticked, but I am not sure about that).

It could be your drivers rather than the game. If you have NVidia drivers, readthis to properly update them, The old way of updating no longer works and can cause major problems, like loss of temperature control. that can eventually destroy your card. Also, you can try turning down your graphics setttings? Did you ever make any changes to your pref.ini file? If so, you might want to check it if you haven't since the patch, because the patch resets some of your pref.ini, and may also have deleted lines you added. Finally, deactivating some mods (especially any with scripts or textures) does not remove all files. You may need to go back to the mod authors websites for instructions on a complete uninstall to see if a mod is the problem.

It is a graphics card error. If you have an NVidia card, you will want to read this to properly update your drivers. Not updating correctly can cause your problem. (the update procedure has changed, has cause issues for a lot of people). If it occurs after updating properly (or if you dont have NVidia drivers) you can try turning down your graphics settings. I'd also make sure your running temp is within safe limits. If you are using any kind of graphical enhancement, you might try uninstalling. Also you can try to disable FXAA and/or Ambient Occlusion, if you are not using them, and enable VSync, if your have it disabled.

How did you order the unrecognised plugins? Offhand, I know scenic carraiges has cause some people issues(and you have an error message related to it). Also, I am no pro at reading the bug reports, but it seems like many of the errors are related to lighting mods (and BFSEffects, don't know that one)...have you tried uninstalling those (completely according to the mod authors instructions) and then adding them back one by one? Even when mods are added carefully, there can be problems that arise, especially when you have so many and many that overlap.Do you remember what you changed when the problem first arose? You may just need to take some out and see if you can get it to work. Good luck!

Sorry for the mess in my last post, tried to edit but the text editor and I seem not to see eye to eye at the moment....

Does it load properly if you go through the standard steam load instead of NMM/skse?
Also, do you have old saves and do they work?
Edit: Did this happen just after you changed to 1.6? Cuz the patch will rewrite your graphics and pref.ini files. In my case I had changed the FOV, and 1.6 removed the lines I had added in the pref.ini, but not the .ini, and that caused a hang similar to yours. Not saying that is your problem, but a removal of any files you have added, (or changing files in a way that is inconsistant) might cause a hang...when I first loaded I had checked to make sure I had changed back the values the way I wanted them, but forgot to look for deleted lines.
Are you trying to post a bug report? Cause this isn't how to do that. Anyway, what you have is probably a mod conflict of some sort. It is possible this has been caused, not by something on your mod list, but something that was incorrectly removed. You can try the following: Try an older save, back before you noticed the problem. Or if you backed up your game before the problem started, you could try to use that. Try verifying your cache through steam. If this is caused by a missing file, that may solve your problem. You could also try choosing just one esp from the items (like the cloaks mod) that tell you to do so, instead of multiple esps...it may not be the cause of the problem you have now, but it may cause or contribute to other problems down the road. Otherwise, you will need to identify the cause. If you removed any mods, go back to the mod author's website, read their readme completely. If you incorrectly uninstalled the mod, there may be a fix. Or there may not, you may need to reinstall the game. If you have not removed any mods, then go though all of your mods, read the readmes. Look to see if there are any known conflicts between the mods you are using or known issues similar to your problem, and maybe a fix or workaround. Read the uninstall instructions for each mod discover how to uninstall completely properly. You can try uninstalling all of them (correctly according to the mod author's instructions--not just deactivating, this does not remove all files, depending on the mod type) or uninstalling them 1 at a time. The second way may be faster if you have an idea what mods you added just before the problem began, or if any of the mod sites mention your situation as a possible problem, but the 1st method can tell you if the problem remains with NO mods, which might mean that you have corrupted a file through incomplete removal of a mod, and that you may need to reinstall skyrim, particularly if you don't know which mod you incorrectly removed. In any case, once you have found the source of the conflict, you can try reloading your mods exactly according to the mod authors instructions and see if the problem reappears. If it does, you can reread the authors readme and discussion thread to see if it is a known issue and if there is a fix try uninstalling other mods, and see if you can find another mod adding to the conflict, and then decide between the two, or visit the mod authors page to see if there is a workaround. Following installation instructions exactly, (including installing just 1 version if told to do so) installing only 1 mod at a time, ordering through BOSS and then testing skyrim to see if it is working properly can save a lot of time down the road. Good luck...

I had this issue once since 1.6. My follower had just dismounted from a horse. I was using UFO (an older version that allowed armored horses for followers). I have since updated to the newest UFO and I have not had that issue again. (This could be related or coincidental to UFO).

Mods? Maybe remove them all before starting? Did you change anything like patch, skse, etc?

Why does converting esp's to esm's help eliminate ctd's
Georgiegril replied to celittle's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I'm not sure why you would want to convert if everything is running smoothly? Why mess with what works? Or do you mean you have already converted, it seems to be working, but you are worried there might be some hidden issue? Again, I have been told not to worry. If it seems to be working, probably you don't need to worry either. One thing is that esms always load first, then esps, so it does affect your load order choices, but since esm files are independant it may not ever be a problem. Anyway, that is how I understand it. A lot of the mod geniuses look at the mod threads, so you might try over there for more a more detailed (and knowledgable) response. -
Well, if you uninstalled any of the horse mods incorrectly, that could be the cause of your problem. I'd go read the readmes of all of your horse mods carefully and see if there is anything there to help. Also the discussion thread of those mods could help. When you did your complete uninstall, did you delete local content and manually remove all skyrim files that remain after the steam uninstall?

Long waiting and never getting the the game menu.

I am kind of confused...just realized you posted the black screen problem as well, at about the same time. Are you having these problems simultaneously? -
Why does converting esp's to esm's help eliminate ctd's
Georgiegril replied to celittle's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Esms are master files, esps are plug-ins. As I understand it (not an expert at all) Esms do not depend on any other file to load, which as I understand it, is why they cause less CTDs...esps only relate to the particular esm on which they are based. I asked a while back if there was a limit, and I was told by much more experienced people that there is not. It seems strange to me that it would be so..... -
I am unclear on what difference it makes what other people are doing in a single player roleplay game. If your choices are "more popular" does that justify your decision in taking them? Or less original? Or does it have any bearing at all? I tend to think the latter. It's like wondering how many people are playing with the "adult" mods activated. Maybe not my choice, but how could it possibly affect me? The only way to determine if a particular line of the story is for you is to try it, and then make your decision. Or not try it. It is all good.

PLZ HELP ME IM GONNA DIE WITHOUT SKYRIM
Georgiegril replied to Supergamerzayat's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Did you try kievkev's solution and raise your fps if you have it limited? I find 35 fps works like a charm, but at 30fps my load times are 3-4 minutes.
