Alduin's Bane - bug, glitch, what?
Georgiegril replied to bibleblack98's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Might want to hide your spoilers. -
Long waiting and never getting the the game menu.
Georgiegril replied to Falloutman117's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
What patch of Skyrim? How are you trying to load? Does it do this when you load directly from steam (not using NMM?) Are you using SKSE? Script Dragon? -
Skyrim shows a black screen then crashes
Georgiegril replied to Falloutman117's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
It sounds like it could be your video cards crashing. You could try turning down your settings, and see if it still crashes, or Have you run something like CPU-Z to see what is going on with your hardware when you are playing? High temps will crash the game, its the card's way of protecting itself. But it could also be that you have driver problems caused by an incorrect update of your drivers, or that the Skyrim graphics settings are too high, or that another process on your computer is taking priority so your game isn't being given enough RAM, or that your power source is starting to die, and is not providing even supply.... Something like CPU-Z can help you see what is actually going on, if you don't have it it's free, although there are other programs out there, some specific to your video card and/or motherboard. After that, if you list your computer specs and graphics settings, someone can probably give you more targeted suggestions. -
Thanks for posting your solution!

Have you updated your audio card drivers lately? What are they?

Thread link Did you try looking for this topic in the forum? There are a bunch of threads that address your issue. Hwre is one. If it doesn't solve your problem, just type skse in the search area and you will find a bunch more.

Weapon stats changing after storing a weapon
Georgiegril replied to dragonslayer2k12's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Stats will appear different in your hand than not equipped, because your levels, enchanted items, etc will afftect them. But with the custom name being gone, that seems like something else.... Does this happen in all houses? Is the house modded in any way? What mods do you have? -
Problem UFO - Ultimate Follower Overhaul
Georgiegril replied to Razor444's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Are you sure it is UFO related? Did you dismiss all your followers before you updated? If you go through and completely uninstall UFO (talking to the firefly, etc.) are you then able to tell your companion to go with you? If you then can get your follower to talk, then you could try his failsafe install procedure (after the complete uninstall). Make sure you dismiss all your companions first..... -
Anyone else sick TO DEATH of Vampires and Werewolves?
Georgiegril replied to Dahveed's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Well. I agree that it is always good to keep an open mind and be hopeful. It's not so much that there are vampires in gaming everywhere as they are everywhere else. I look to fantasy gaming to get away from the real world, and these days I can't even watch a car commercial without it involving vampires. o_O If they are looking to increase their girl gamer marketshare, I hope they will consider next time simply making Skyrim a place where at least a few of the marriageable NPC men are witty and good looking, and keep their personalities after marriage. Maybe the DLC vampires will fit this description, and I will have to re-evaluate my position? :D I do appreciate Bethesda putting out new material, better than just adding a few more dungeons or something. -
You might try uninstalling your mods completely (look at mod authors readmes to find the correct procedure for their mod), and then verifying your cache through steam.

Are you using any water mods? I have read that it can be a problem if you are using SLI (looks like maybe you are not?) Also, some people have found lowering your fps can help, (Although it might lead to long load times, see Renn's recent post on that) or changing your Vsync. Finally, if you recently updated your drivers, but did not follow this procedure, you may have some problems because of that. Hope something here helps!
-
Thanks Rennn! I can double my load speed just by going from 30 to 35 fps.
-
And if one person applies your tweakand it doesn't solve their problem, you have just invalidated your credibility. Good luck to you, I only hope those that read this take any suggestions of this nature with appropriate caution.
-
It seems like it would be totally irritating. It could be related to a mod...have you tried troubleshooting them? Have you been working in the CK? It might be possible to create the problem there, but if you haven't been changing things there, I would guess it was mod related...

Your 6gb is CPU or GPU RAM? What is your video card? Has it always lagged? Everywhere or just certain places? Was there a time when it did not lag? What changes have you tried? (Graphics settings, pref ini, etc.) Mods?

You are right, 7 ugridstoload is taxing. Especially for people with lower memory cards, one must make decisions on where they want to use their finite memory resources. In my particular case, lowering the tree LOD was a tradeoff I made. I am able to run 7grids because I have other things turned down. (including some LOD, animations, etc.) I have a lot of CPU RAM and a decent processor, so I am able to put some of the load on those, as well. My point however, is not that your tweak may not be useful, it is that your hyperbolic description is inaccurate. If you were to rephrase it as saying that you have found your ini settings to help with your specific kind of stutter, and that you have tested it with great success on your computer, then I would not have any concerns. You are absolutely right that mesh and block pop-ins CAN cause stuttering. It is simply that they do not cause ALL stuttering, and that your solution may not work on all systems, as you are promoting it. There are many variables that affect a game's performance, and unfortunately there is rarely one cure-all to address them. I absolutely agree that your ini tweaks could be worth consideration for those experiencing stuttering. Posting your particular specs might help people decide if this is the right solution for them. Inviting others to post their results using this tweak could help determine with what computer specs it is most useful.

I am very appreciative of all of the work that has been done to update the site. I realize that it is a work in progress, and quite fine work at that! One thing that occasionally pains me is that if I receive the "bad gateway" error upon attempting to post on a thread, the content of my post is gone. Sometimes I have put a lot of thought and time into a post..and then, poof! I have noticed that when one enters a post too quickly and receives the message about having to wait, the text is automatically saved. Is there any way to do that with the errors, or is the crash just that, and no way around it? I do know I could save my text to my notepad and I do often try to do that. It seems that in the case of particularly involved or thoughtful posts, I invariably forget, and then get the gateway error. Anyway, just a thought, and thank you all for the fantastic work you do. This site makes my gaming 100% more entertaining!

Is it possible you remapped your activate button? Otherwise, it is probably related to a mod you have downloaded or uninstalled recently. Can you remember what changed just before this became a problem? (If the answer is the 1.6 patch then your work is cut out for you....) IF you post your mods someone might notice something that could help you. Otherwise, you can try first going back to all the mods websites and read the readmes again, to see if it is a known issue with any and maybe find a fix. If that doesn't work, you could uninstall your mods exactly according to the mod author's instructions and then play to see if that solves the problem. If you have a lot of mods and don't want to uninstall all of them, you can try uninstalling the most likely suspects one at a time (for example, horse mods, other mods with scripts)...although sometimes it is the most unlikely mod that is involved..... Be sure to look back at mods you uninstalled or otherwise changed just before the problem started, since incorrect uninstallation or updating can cause a lot of problems.

Anyone else sick TO DEATH of Vampires and Werewolves?
Georgiegril replied to Dahveed's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Indeed, at least it's not more cannibalism. Except, well.....nevermind. -
Well, again, my computer meets minimum requirements. Its a 512MB NVidia Geforce 9800GT. Can run on medium settings, and 7ugridstoload. Your solution would fix stuttering for some people, if they have a card that can handle the excess VRAM load, and if their stuttering was actually caused by the mesh loading time. People with stuttering from any number of other causes would not benefit. This could be a good solution for people within that narrow frame. For some people, your solution would cause crashes or no improvement of their stuttering, depending on the situation. I am not trying to burst your bubble, so to speak. Your information could be extremely useful to some people. But generalizing to even "everyone who meets minimum specs" and who has stuttering is just not accurate, and could cause some people more problems, when I am sure your goal is to help.

Anyone else sick TO DEATH of Vampires and Werewolves?
Georgiegril replied to Dahveed's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Word. -
Well, did you actually go register on steam, because if not that folder wont exist.
-
Disabling mods may not be enough. Texture and script mods can remain unless completely uninstalled correctly according to the mod author's instructions. You might try completely uninstalling mods and see if the problem remains. (( (You could try verifying the game cache through steam after the uninstall will help rule out a missing file issue) Also, if you have recently removed a mod incorrectly, this might cause the issue. Also, occasionally a dragon will skid across the terrain, leaving huge tracks that could make entrances inaccessible....if this were the case, the terrain would look overturned, like a giant plow had gone through.

Skyrim crash to Desktop after Bethesda logo
Georgiegril replied to qstav's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Also try verifying your cache through steam?
