What happens if you load up a save from before the weird crash? If the game is normal before that, I think you are looking at a corrupt save, and the solution is to revert to a non-corrupt one. If the problem now exists on earlier saves, then the problem could be that somehow your graphics settings/pref.ini settings where somehow changed, or that in the course of the crash, changes were made to your actual game file. In that case I would also use a good antivirus to make sure the crash and resulting devastation are not related to a worm or virus. If you are connected to Steam in ONline mode, then I would suspect that, and put it to offline mode. (Also it is possible the problem was caused by Workshop mods having been removed or updating, but usually that would not cause the crash during a game, but rather on load.) If the problem exists on all waves, but your prefs.ini and graphic settings have not changed, then (after running that antivirus) you might try using the Steam verify cache file (though this will revert your settings and ini files, so make backups) or Windows restore. Other than that, you may have to start again. Strange crashes like yours could be caused by hardware failure (like a power supply or hard drive) or by shorts caused by dust in your computer creating an electrostatic charge. (or a virus, or just computer weirdness). I would suggest running a diagnostic on your computer, just so you can minimize the chance of this happening again, maybe. In addition to all that, you have a lot in your BOSS log you need to take care of--TES5Edit cleaning, obsolete mods, missing mods, unrecognized mods, etc. All the BOSS messages need fixing. Those alone could be causing your problem, and could have at least caused the crash you describe (which could lead to a corrupt save). Fixing all of that might be your solution, but even if that is not the direct cause of your problem, you will need to fix all that to avoid future problems.

You need to clean the DLCs with TES5Edit, as BOSS states. That will help with CTDs. Your ini files have a lot of changes that may slow you doen and cause instability. I suggest you start from the default ini, then make you changes one at a time until you notice the freezing/crashing, then you will know which exactly are not good settings for you. Definitely you need to change this: uGridsToLoad=9 ; <--- you can change it to 7, if you need more meshes on distance. uExterior Cell Buffer=64 ; <--- change it to 64, if you use uGridsToLoad 7 Because 9 is going to be unstable, regardless, and you cell buffer value is wrong. I suggest you take a look at the Geforce guide on how to change your ugrids properly. Though, revert to the default may by itself solve your crash/freezes.

Please replace your mods list with your BOSS log text file. Open the BOSS GUI, select the log to render in text format. Copy/aste, enclose in spoiler tags. You can find those in the pulldown menu of the third icon to the left on the top toolbar. It may also help to see your skyrim prefs.ini and skyrim.ini, and basic information about your computer (CPU, RAM, GPU, VRAM, Graphics driver version, game profile settings.)

Copy/paste the entire BOSS log. Go to the BOSS GUI and select to have the log rendered in text rather than html. Then, copy/paste and enclose in spoiler tags. You can find those in the pull down menu of the third icon to the left on the top toolbar.

You need the most recent BOSS, (version 2.2.0). The version you have was hosted at a different site, which has been shut down. That is why your BOSS won't. You can get the most recent BOSS here. After running that, you will definitely want to take care of the messages, like TES5Edit cleaning, etc.

Try clearing some of your old saves out of your save folder. If that does not work, more information will be needed. When you say "does not want to," do you mean it crashes? Freezes? Or does nothing happen when you click on the save option, but the rest of the game continues to respond normally? Is this the case with all types of saves? Then, post your BOSS log text file, your Skyrimprefs.ini and skyrim.ini, (all copy/paste and enclose in spoiler tags.) The last few lines of your papyrus logs (about 40 lines at the time you are trying to make a save) may also be useful. Finally, please list any supporting programs you are using that BOSS does not manage (like skse, etc.) and anything you changed before this problem occurred.

Every key stops working except movement and Esc
Georgiegril replied to patzka90's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
If you are removing CWO, you are going to need to start a new game entirely. I'd suggest using the STEP Guide to revert to vanilla. (Of course, it could be a keyboard error you are dealing with, you might try a different one. But CWO will leave you with ongoing problems when removed, so that is still my recommendation. Also the mod author's, unless that has recently changed.) -
Sorry, but given recent security issues, I don't open random zip files Please replace that list with a copy/paste of your BOSS log text file. Enclose in spoiler tags. Also please do the same with your Skyrim.ini and prefs.ini If you do not use another program to monitor your performance already, I suggest you use the Skyrim Performance monitor, and look at what is going on with your resources at the time of the freeze. If you need help interpreting that, post screenies. It might help, possibly, to have the last 40 or so lines of your papyrus log, on the off chance that you are looking at some kind of script loop. Please also note which drivers you are using with your GPU and any custom changes you have made to the nvidia inspector or control panel game profile. Does the problem occur if the ENB is removed?

New install, new game crashes on start
Georgiegril replied to milvanSmouse's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I suggest you start over with a completely clean vanilla install. To do this properly, follow the STEP guide on the subject. Then add mods one at a time, run BOSS and test in game before adding the next. Also take care of any messages BOSS gives you, including (but not limited to) TES5Edit cleaning, proper placement of unrecognized mods, obsolete mods, needed masterfiles, patches, etc. Make sure to start the game once from the steam launcher, so that NMM. skse, and BOSS will recognize your game. Regarding your BOSS problem--make sure you are loading BOSS 2.2.0 from this site. The installer version is the easiest to use. Also make sure you have assigned "run as administrator" to BOSS, skyrim, etc. From a quick look at your list, I'm pretty sure BOSS is definitely needed on that. After you have done all that, if you are still having issues, replace your list with a copy/paste of your BOSS log in text format. -
Still don't have your answer, mostly just bringing this up to the top again for you. I do have a question--just to clarify--this message comes up when you first pull up the CK, before you attempt to load any mods up? What is the install path of your CK? Have you tried reinstalling to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim if it is not already there? (assuming Windows 7)

Well I don't have your answer, I am just sorry no one else does! Especially since you are always so awesome and helpful to people. I've never run across that error; my only thoughts are that maybe it is related to a utility you are using that affects BSA files (like an optimizer)? Also, have you tried using the verify cache files thing on the CK (same process as for Skyrim, just click on the Creation Kit instead then properties and verify game files, or something like that.)

I think there is only one horse available in the vanilla game at that site. I have used Better Horses and Convenient Horses--as I recall both add horses to that site. So I am not sure if your problem is that a mod is still affecting the game, or rather, that you are missing an affect of a mod you used to use. In any case, if you are wanting to restore your game completely vanilla, with no effects from previous mods, I suggest you follow the STEP Guide to revert to vanilla. Prior to using that myself, I always seemed to have something or another magically appearing--I also have stopped using Steam backups of the game (which I think was the cause of my problems back in the day). Also I do not use the workshop, and I would suggest that to you, though of course that is a personal thing.

Constant CTD's, Freezing - Papyrus log Provided
Georgiegril replied to Davitox87's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
To me it looks like you had mods installed, then tried to remove them, but did not do so completely. Also, it looks like UFO needs some missing patches and there are a few mods needing TESEdit cleaning, but I'm not sure how much that plays into your current problems. If you started a new game and still have those mod remnants, you may find it easiest to start a new game from vanilla (see STEP for this). You might also try a script cleaner-- this one seems more effective than previous attempts at a save game cleaner, but it is still IMO a last-ditch attempt and should be only used by someone willing to start anew if it fails. (and of course read and follow the instructions carefully.) -
Fortify Alchemy, Enchanting, Smithing replaced?
Georgiegril replied to Rashaken's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Looks like what I get with Skyre, -
Hi, I don't follow STEP as such (Mainly because my GPU is below their minimum specs...sigh), but they have a lot of very useful information (like the revert to vanilla. guide I linked.) They also have good guides and links to utilities, and their forum contains discussions on these that also may be useful to you. Here is a link to their page with links to their guides. Have fun!

The beginning sequence is pretty notorious for reacting badly to modding. I suggest you use an alternate start mod to avoid that. If you love the beginning, then I suggest removing the mod in question, returning to a save from before you added it, and then playing through until exiting the cave before adding anything else.

You need to look at the mods that overwrite each other and decide which of them you what to have the specific file for....for example f you use one mod for faces, but you prefer the eyes on the other, then let the eyes file overwrite the face file. These are personal decisions, though, I'm not sure anyone can tell you what to do. Texture files are easily removed/replaced, though. Just open up the game, check the way your character looks (or whatever the change was) and if you don't like the result, reinstall the mods another way. Definitely check the game after every mod you add. Adding them all at once will mean you have no idea which mod is causing any problem you run into.

You are not gonna like my advice, but IMO you would ultimately save time and frustration by starting over. To this end, the below may help you. Help for trouble-free modding: If you are unwilling to do that at this time, then I suggest you take care of all of the messages in your BOSS log, For example you have a bunch that require TES5Edit cleaning. Make sure you have all needed patches and master files, and properly hand place the unrecognized mods. I'd also carefully re-read all f the mod pages for the unrecognized mods, since BOSS will have no info on needed masters/patches, and open them up in TES5Edit since BOSS will not have info on whether they need cleaning. After that, if you are still having problems, you could try Save Game Script Cleaner to deal with the problem from those mods you removed. Generally I am very wary of save cleaners, but this one does appear more promising. I have not needed to try it though. Any time you use a save game cleaner, you need to accept the risk that you may fry your game. So this would be the last thing to try. After doing all that, if you are still crashing, I think you may want to revisit my first suggestion. Building a game properly takes a lot of time--days, even more, maybe. But the result is a stable game you can enjoy playing rather than fixing for months.

Copy/paste the text file of you BOSS log. List any mods you removed before the problem occurred.

Game loads, music plays, goes back to desktop
Georgiegril replied to FennecFyre's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Probably is...I might have just phrased it oddly. I mean the right click on icon, then select "run as administrator" option (assuming you have Windows 7). If that doesn't work, post your game info and maybe something will be obvious to someone (BOSS log, versions of skse and any other supporting program you use) also, maybe check your firewall program to make sure it is allowing the game? -
That is answered in the article I linked to.

There is a pinned thread on this on the top of this forum page.

A 2 GB graphics card is quite adequate. However, 2 GB of RAM is a problem, especially with Skyrim. Like I said before, adding RAM is quite easy to do yourself, but you do need to know what your motherboard supports, and which type of RAM to get. One good place to start is to read up on it... Here is a PCworld article. You might also try sites like Tom's Hardware. Don't worry about not knowing--everybody started that way. I consider Skyrim modding a great opportunity for people to learn more about their computers.
