  1. I heard that it was, but I've also heard that people with cavernous RAMs appear to still shut down at 2GB.

You mention that your GPU cant handle hi-tex, what card do you have, with how much VRAM?

Have you run a program like GPU Monitor to find out how much of your VRAM Skyrim actually utilizes? (I use NVidia system monitor)

Also on the BOSS, did you run that today? And did you hand place any unrecognized files?

Have you tried to remove your most recent mods, the ones that you added just before the problem started?

  2. It's the XXX mods. They have blinded you, just like your mother said they would.

That seems like a lot of mods, easy to have a conflict.

I get CTDs if Water isn't absolutely last on my load list, despite what BOSS wants to do with it! Maybe try that?

  3. It sounds to me like one of those left a script somewhere that disabling didn't change. Did you do a complete uninstall according to the mod author's directions?

I think it might be possible that re-installing a different horse mod might overwrite the file in question. I use better horses, and it works extremely well for me. (I had issues with Horses for followers, too.)

I know that doesn't seem like the most elegant solution, maybe someone has a better idea?

  4. Oh, UESP wiki sez that not being able to use the num keypad is "a known bug, waiting to be fixed."

It sucks to try to train yourself to use new keys, especially if you play more than one game. You could tell Bethesda they are Lefty-discriminating....

    Seriously I am sorry.

  5. I know you can go into the CK, pull up characters by race and then change their factions (or relationships, as it seems from your description that is the area that is affecting their behavior), but oy! that seems like tedious work. Might be worth it if you are well into the game, as the only other thing I can think of is a fresh start.

Sorry! I imagine excessive charisma is quite the curse! ;-) I wouldn't know as NPCs are constantly asking me if I've had a bath.....

  6. I have found skyrim an excellent motivator for me to learn a lot more than I did about my computer.

I actually think "a willingness to increase technical skills" should be listed on the minimum requirements for the game!

There are was you could possibly adjust your computer, for example limiting frames to load or an fps limiter, or otherwise adapting your computer to increase its performance, but without basic information and a willingness to experiment, that won't happen. It seems that the complexities of the program affect different computers and graphic cards differently.

To find your computers specs easily, go to your steam client interface and look at the top. It has Steam-friends-view, etc. The last one is Help.

Click on help and find System Information. Click on that and Steam will create a list of all of your system info, way more than you need. The first bit will list your computer, RAM, Graphics Card. V ram, etc.

That's what you are looking for.

With that information we can figure out the next step.

  7. I have read that a mine will appear to have respawned (ie ore glowing) before it will actually be able to be mined by several days/weeks.

I waited 30 days (OMG thought I would die) so that I could be sure deadly dragons worked, as per the mod authors instructions. After I did that (might have been more like 35 days, I lost count...really sooo painful!) all of the ore veins that I have encountered again have yielded ore.

  8. This is just a guess, but have you installed any marriage or companion mods that make those who would typically not be followers/marriageable available for these purposes? It seems off that a wolf or vampire would be at the acquaintance level.

Unless you are really that good looking ;-)

  9. That's cause Windows seven gets all funky with the security stuff.

Right click on the NMM icon, pull up the properties, click the security tab and click run as administrator.

I had to do this even though I thought I had given myself administrator privileges for everything already.

    Good luck!

  10. You will not see the nexus mods from the steam skyrim launcher that you had been using in the past. You will see them if you launch from the nexus mod manager. (but only on the UI, they are not checked every time you start the game like steam does with workshop files)

To start skyrim with NMM, Open NMM, look in upper right corner. Depending if you have installed skse, you will want to choose "launch skyrim" or "Launch skse." click on the appropriate button.

I have noticed that the first time I do this, it may bring up the old steam skyrim menu, which will show my steam workshop files being loaded/checked by steam. I then hit exit on that screen, hit the NMM "launch skse" (cause I have that, if you don't hit "launch skyrim") and that will take you to the Skyrim loading page (the one with the nice kettle drum sound effects). I have thought this to be a glitch with my personal setup, but maybe not....

I know it is difficult to remain patient when dealing with a frustrating problem; please remember that I and all the other forum members are just people like you who are volunteering their help and occasionally have things like work or real life to attend to as well....

    I hope this helps!

  11. I have noticed a lot of people having problems if they install the mods before the game starts. I would try starting the game without anything, pure vanilla, and see if the problem recurs. If not, you know it is in fact the mod. If it is the mod, you may want to post on the mod authors site to see how people have gotten around it.
