  1. Not sure what your issue is exacly, as (like you said) the picture doesn't show it. If the problem is zig-zaggy edges, then your anti-aliasing settings may be off. Have you looked at these settings in the Skyrim start window (click on "options") or open your graphics software.

Depending on your graphics card/capabilities, you can change the anti-aliasing and also anisotropic filtering values to improve your games appearance. Higher values will result in smoother edges, but they will also affect performance, depending on your card.

For a good description of these functions, and how they affect your games appearance, check out NVidia's tweak guide for Skyrim (google geforce skyrim to find it). Even if you don't have Nvidia's graphic card, it goes over the settings provided by bethesda, explains their functions and has visual examples of the different settings.

    Hope that helps!

  2. Playing around with the shadow settings on pref.ini will help. Also I found that loading modded rock textures makes the problem disappear, at least on rock faces. I have used a couple but I especially like "Rugged Rocks." Doesn't do a thing for snow, although I think that the "better dynamic snow" may help on this.

Coincidentally, I still have that old Nvidia 9800 GT. Sigh.

The NVidia geForce website has an amazing guide to tweak Nvidia cards for Skyrim optimisation, amd it also covers the shadow striping issue. Using that guide has allowed me to get skyrim running well and looking purty, even on this old nag of a graphics card! I really think the link for that should be a sticky. You can find it if you google geforce skyrim.

  3. Have you gotten this cleared up?

I always for get to mention t(and to remember myself when I have issues) that it helps to verify the game cache through the steam interface....

If you do start a new game, as tedious as it will be, you may find that loading each mod 1 at a time on a clean save may help prevent or at least help identify any mod conflicts.

  4. It sounds like a graphics card issue. I don't have your type of graphics card, but generally speaking, you should:

    1. Check for driver updates. (Sound card too)

    2. If you don't use 2 monitors, then go into your driver card interface software and disable multimonitor. It will improve your graphic performance, and at least on my card (nvidia) it is default on.

    3. Sadly it doesn't see that AMD has a list of tweaks to improve skyrim, like NVidia does (or at least on very short perusal I couldn't find one.)

There are a lot of tweak guides for skyrim pref.ini that can help, just enter tweak in the nexus search bar.

Also a lot of discussions specific to AMD graphic cards, you could search for that as well.

  5. Is that the actual load order? Because WATER has caused problems for me unless it is placed last to load.

Also, if you have the latest bethesda patch, and are all of your mods the version that is compatible with that? There were a lot of mods that had to make changes to adapt to 1.5, and if you have mods that were changed for 1.5, they may give you trouble if you are running an earlier version.

    Hope this helps!

  6. I have a lot of the same mods you do and over 30, so I don't think the number you have is the issue, but maybe mod conflict or load order?

I had a problem for a bit with super long loads, and it turned out to be a particular mod I had added (not one of the ones you have, sorry).

Can you think back to when it was working properly and try uninstalling the mods that you added just before the problem appeared?

The only other thing I notice is that my deadly dragons is much higher on the load order, above UFO and my player abode mods. Not whether that is important or related to you issue.

    Hope some of this helps!

  7. Did you also happen to disable anything, like better whiterun, etc? I had this problem once after I disabled "Better Riften." except it was purple ice and holes in the walls.

If not, the following might help:

Disable/uninstall all of the new mods.

Read the entire description/installation page for each mod, looking especially for loading order instructions and known conflicts.

Re-install new mods one at a time. If you get messages that says a particular file has already been installed, that may be part of your problem.Do not say "yes to all" but rather note each file and how you respond.

Play the game in the areas that you noticed the texture problem.

If they do not exist, add the next mod going through the same process.

Once it appears, you will know you have a conflict with that mod and one of the others. You can deactivate all of your mods except that one to determine if it is a conflict with that mod or an actual bug.

My experience is that "bugs" are usually conflicts between two mods or something I have done with my graphics settings.

Modders are typically meticulous in notating what you need to know to get their mod working smoothly, and I have found careful and complete reading of their description and installation instructions is usually the solution to mod problems.

  8. Is there any chance you accidentally struck a guard or villager with your weapon/spell? This would make the other NPCs in the other area hostile. I would either go back to a saved game before the dragon battle or try the guard fix--- fast travel somewhere far way, wait 3 days and then go back. You may have a bounty of you did hit someone, but they should not be hostile.
  9. My experience has been that quest bugs are often (not always) a matter of getting to the right person and triggering the dialogue. Have you tried going back to Arngier and initialising the conversation again? Sometimes it seems like an NPC is done, but there is something more....I would try going through all of the dialogue choices, even if they seem unrelated.
  10. Unlike the workshop, you don't get auto mod updates. I have found this to be a better system, because it increases your level of control over your own game/mods. For example there are several mods that I have that added content I was not interested in or would cause conflicts with other mods, so I have chosen not to update, or postponed updating until it worked for me. Plus you aren't waiting forever for the mod updates check every time you start the game.
  11. I have been able to get rid of the grey face on my CK custom follower by pulling up his data and using the face gen export command (Ctrl-F4) but I can't find myself in the creation kit data file. :-( Fortunately I look at my follower more than I look at myself....

I have read that if you need to correct the grey face in NPC's you need to pull them all up individually and then use Ctrl-F4. That would be a project.....

  12. I had this problem too. I don't think there is a set fix for everyone. I fixed it by playing around with my skyrim prefs.ini settings until I got it right for my system. I have an Nvidia card and their geforce site has a fantastic skyrim tweaks page (google skyrim geforce and you should find it). They have specifics for different cards and general tweaks. That was ultimately what worked best for me. There are also some tutorials on youtube and this site.
  13. I haven't played WIS but I add my sincere gratitude to the modders who have generously posted their hard work, kindly helped people with their questions and put up with unkind or ignorant posts.

I have done very little modding, only for myself, but enough to know that it is a long, frequently frustrating process. *Anyone* who ever thinks of posting something critical or impatient to a modder should give it a try themselves. I guarantee that person will become much more patient and grateful.

Mods are what make Skyrim interesting after the first play-through. I hope those who share their efforts know how many people, including myself, are aware and appreciative of their work.

  14. There are three options provided if you have skse and are using the nmm. If you right click on the launch button in the upper right corner you will see: launch skse, launch skyrim, and launch custom skyrim.

The poor guy probably just got nmm and/or skse and doesn't know how to use it.

The custom launch is an option provided by nmm, no idea what it does but some guy asking about it does not make him a pirate, probably just new to the nmm interface.

So, to launch nmmall you do is pick either skyrim or skse and left click. Ignore the custom, you probably will never need it.

  15. ? I thought kill moves only happen when your enemy can do enough damage to kill you with one hit (not sure if it's the same for dragons).

Since the 1.5 patch I've had killmove animation when stabbing a little spiderr and firebombing a skeever. It's funny to watch, but definitely overly dramatic.
