  1. I switched from the PS3 version (with patch) for this exact reason. The saved games get too big and with PS3's dual save it stutters the longer you play and the bigger the save gets. Was an unplayable brain tumor during civ war quests (too many people around). Lost 2 level 50 characters and a couple hundred hours of my life. I've been through all the fixes for stutter and lag these are all things I tried for better performance with good to great results. Some of them came from Bethesda, most of them came from the Nexus forums. Lower screen resolution (make sure it matches your regular monitor resolution) and graphics levels a notch (especially fade levels) Use a FPS Limiter capped at 60 turn of AA and Anti-B Sell stuff (Huge caches of crap lower performance apparently) Use only non-performance hurting mods (some of those beautiful mods hurt playability) clean up your quests (apparently many quests add things that aren't there if the quest hasn't been activated yet) Turn off Grass Shadows (and other ini files if you want to downgrade a bit) Check out the ipresentinterval=0 fix Download the latest driver Verify the integrity of Game Cache in Steam Properties (do this before the ini file changes) I've fine tuned my performance with basically the same system you have. I'm currently playing a 60mb file with no stutter on high with some lowered fade and a couple of performance knocking mods (WATER and Ultra-realistic lighting) and 30 other mods. I Have been dealing with a specific performance stutter problem involving priest masks and any closed helmets. Everythings great until I put one on, then yuck. Open faced helmets and hoods are fine. Been searching for a month. I think it might be because I have a huge beard. If anybody has any answers to that problem I'd break into the temple of Dibella for you!
  2. make sure your Skyrim screen resolution matches your reg monitor screen resolution. FPS limiters work for me on this problem set at 60 (Skyrim's max capability)
  3. This has to be a mod that stuck me with this. If anybody else is having this problem send me a message and maybe we can compare our mods.
  4. Can not figure this out for the life of me. Tried erasing all my mods again off the data files. DO I HAVE TO GO INTO THE PROGRAM FILES TO ERASE MY MODS? HOW DO I COMPLETELY ERASE MY MODS WITHOUT REINSTALLING? PLEASE HELP, I WANT TO USE MY DRAGON PRIEST MASK.
  5. What would that look like? For me, When I put on a Priest's Mask or Ebony Helmet it gets jittery, laggy, with a sort of stuttering. when I take it off it goes back to working well. Would a mod have permanently affected my graphic qualities even if I erased it off the manager and data files?
  6. It's not a mod I've just erased and unsubscribed to all my mods and it still does it. Is it possible that a mod has permanently affected the ebony helmet and closed face masks?
  7. What do Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering do in Skyrim? What happens when I turn them off?
  8. Will this conflict with using Steam Mods and their load order?
  9. Just Keeping this fresh on the list. Whenever I put on an Ebony Helmet or Dragon Priest Mask I get a noticeable stutter, lag and poor visual graphics quality especially outside. If I take the mask or helmet off it goes back to being fine. Otherwise game runs fine. System fully qualified to run Skyrim. Above average video card, memory and up to date drivers. Had already added a program to cap FPS (frames per second) at 60 to better run with the game driver. Pushed Down Video levels (Turned off Antialiasing/Anistropic Filtering, Went to Medium, and Lowered Resolution) and it still did it. Turned off all my mods and it still did it. Erased all my mods and went vanilla and it still did it. I had my eye on "Wearing Circlets with Hoods" that I got off of STEAM but still did it after that was gone (a great mod by the way). Wondering if a mod could have added permanent affects to downgrade this. Haven't tried Re-installing the game as I'm 400 hours in and it's not unplayable with a dragon mask on just poor visuals. Hellllllllllp! Why would a single armor piece change Graphics quality. Especially Outside in the Wilderness. I've seen at least 4 other unaswered posts on Nexus about this subject so I know I'm not alone.. Has anybody else had this problem and fixed it somehow? You're my last hope for wearing a Dragon Priest Mask Nexus Readers!!!
  10. ok you have the same computer of me, and you mush have neer 12 mg of memory, and you have the driver 296.10 for nvidia so it's a mod, i am pretty sure, remember two patch have going out, so the mod don't follow the update until they will herself make and update but it's long to explain, but try this, disable all your mod and try the game, if it's good you know a mod don't follow the update... if all your driver are up to date it's impossible it's a problem of hardware whit a monster like you have in your hand... Already tried turning off and erasing all my mods, there's one I have my eye on, but I erased it and it still did it. It's all closed face dragon masks and the ebony helmet that affect it. Some people seem to be solving this by changing the way they put their clothes/armor on but it hasn't really worked for me. It's still playable just annoying stutter, lag, and visually poor. I'm betting it's a combination of mods that's doing it. It's also downgrading visually when I save then reload quickly after I die.
  11. Already did it, Didn't have any small mods or mods that affected armor or helmets. Systems good, Windows 7, Intel i7, great video card, computer's only 2 months old.. The game runs great as long as I'm not wearing a full faced mask or ebony helm. The second I put these are on the game quality goes down. Why would a single piece of armor affect game quality. I've read at least 4 other people who've had this problem.
  12. WTF!! 40 hours in finally got performance just right, moving great with mouse, High graphics with Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering off (WTF do those 2 do anyways???) and I put on my first Ebony Helmet with my full Ebony armor set and it starts stuttering, stalling with lag! I take off everything and it works fine. I put on everything but the helmet and it works fine. I put the helmet back on and it goes to crap. Why would one piece of armor disturb the graphics quality of the whole game? Somebody out there tell me there's a bug fix for this please. I've seen a couple of other posts about this with no answers. I tried the Vsync .ini file thingy: didn't work. The only thing that's worked so far is turning my finally/finely tuned settings to extremely low quality and walking around with no grass, then I can at least move around normal. I've searched the web for a day with no answer. !!!Why would putting on one piece of armor affect gameplay this much??!?
  13. I also got this glitch. did you ever find a way around this, and if so what? It seemed to happen with other helmets too and wasn't fixed by changing graphics levels. I thought maybe it was a mod I had, but I couldn't find it. Any help would be great.
