I've just sketched out a rough quest tree for starters - There would need to be a different intro (so other options for talking to the boy that trigger the dark brotherhood)
*then you kill astrid
*you report the crime (not as killing the 'leader' because you don't know)
*you are offered a commission into the PO, and given a basic quest to look into an assassinated solder marked with the black hand (bait)
*Eitherway an assassin from the DB (probably ambajorn) tries to kill you.
*Reporting back you get 'initiated' and need to take an oath, depending on stealth/magic/combat options you get a reward of a dagger/mage hood/imperial shield
*Next up you are tasked to spy on Motttiere who sources have suggested is not happy with the emperor and the white gold concordat
*you need to track him stealthily and listen to him speak to someone - turns out it was nothing. But something else needs your attention
*the civil war - you need to get the crown (at least) and help to ambush a nord wagon carrying weapons for the civil war
*you are then told about a suspicous death involving Muiris victim,
*when you find her and interrogate Muiri, she tells you about a dark elf who did the deed + whom she gave her ring to.
*asking at a local shop you find the description of the dark elf (gabrielle) who is staying in an inn.
*killing her there is a note about 'helping the shadowscale at the wedding in solitude'
*heading there you need to stop the assassination plot at the wedding
*assuming THAT goes off ok, then a while later you are contacted about arresting the fake gourmet in a sting operation.
*Confronting Festus (the gourmet!) he resists but his dying words revel the assassination of the emperor!
*the boat is being attacked by Nazir, Cicero and Babette (who transforms into Vampire-warform) as well as a couple of dark brotherhood mooks.
*fight through nazir and mooks to the boatswain who tells you where the emperor is and gives you the key to the forecastle of the boat
*fight through a couple of mooks to the emperor to confront babette who goes full monster
*Assuming you and the emperor survive, you are declared a hero of the empire and given some nice rewards.
*radiant quests involve killing stormcloaks, assassins, etc. Would have to think about that a bit more.

Yeah I need to second this - anyone thinking of doing it? I have rudimentary modding skills but if people are interested maybe we could collaborate.

I like this idea. A lot. Especially anti-Shadowmere. Because glowy white unicorns, yes. Another concept I think I've seen batted around (as in, Bethesda was planning to do this but it was cut) was to have the player actually join the Penitus Oculatus. So maybe...do your detective thing, take out about half the DB members, but meanwhile, they're plotting the assassination of the Emperor behind the scenes. At the end of the questline (perhaps with variations depending on how quickly you tracked down the other members? And multiple permutations of agent locations, so you can't just go to where they are immediately during later playthroughs/with a walkthrough), the remaining Brotherhood basically does what it does if you're there: they set up the plot, get tricked, and make a desperate last stand at the Katariah. Except they lose, this time.
I don't know.
I have been looking to no avail. Essentially joining the PO would allow you to destroy the dark brotherhood as well as play a more 'behind the scenes' role in the civil war in addition to any other cloak&dagger work the empire needs doing (including spying on the thalmor?)

It depends - For Orcs or Argonians male 100% Not played Khajiit so no thoughts but probs male.
The rest it varies on what character - dark elf, imperial nearly always female. wood elf usually 50/50 depending. Redguard depends agin about 50/50 (either some B.A. style fool pityin' or else weaponmaster-ess!)

It doesn't matter the dragonborn is good or bad, just meant to kill dragons and has the power to speak to dragons.
you could be the bastard child of Sithis and turn out to be the famous dragonborn.
Damnit someone is onto my characters background.... =p

So I'd have to re-make a 'similar' statue in blender and import that?
-
Hi,
I'm just wondering if it's possible to export an object (say a statue of sithis from the vile lairplugin in oblivion) and then import the file and re-texture it for Skyrim?

I seen this 'minature' and though it would be cool to make a mod for it - could be an evil wizard's layer type add on. Similar to the necromancers lair on the island for oblivion.

player.additem f OVER9000!!!
just saying if i want to cheat I will..

+1 as I don't like being 'the last dragonborn' Sort of ruins it for me.
-
If the did a 'loot leveller' mod that would be great so that every 10th level you can visit a shrine/forge/something and any unique items would be leveled up.
-
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that. All it needed was the creepy atmospheric music. I must admit stealthing past a hostile when he's about 4 feet away gives a good buzz!
-
If you were in the dark brotherhood you could sacrfice it to Sithis in order to gain moar power... that would be cool and evil and quite fitting!
-
Anyone else love deepscorn as much as I did? I was thinking it would be nice to have a semi-equivalent in Skyrim complete with vampire minion!

Is there some sort of mod where you can be properly evil. I'm not talking about the dark brotherhood type evil, but the let's wage a war on the imperial city type evil. Where you could have evil allies (like blackguards and necromancers and the like) and send your minions (skeletons, zombies, goblins?) to kill the innocent?
-
D&D's Faerun. Seems pretty decent and heroic / high fantasy. 40k would be too grim, unless I could choose to be someone important probobably wouldn't want to be there.
-
What's the nameless mod? *google*
Ohhh I will have to dig out my disc and give that a spin!

Castlevania series was always good,
Deus Ex,
Baldurs Gate
I liked the catchy sonic tunes as well

Let's see I'm an evil hot large chested murdering, poisoning, necromantic b*tch in oblivion.... yes that is probably my exact opposite. I guess that what games were designed for though. Fantasy and options and RP and stuff
-
AFAIK if you don't do the grey prince's quest then he will lay the smackdown as normal
-
That and BG were my top 2 games ever!
I liked dungeon keeper as well but that's not gotten much love lately.... =(

Sortition, select representatives from the eligable voting populace randomly. That way there's no lobbyist, no party politics. Depending on your liberality some people may be excluded (criminals, children, the insane) although to be truly fair you could argue that anyone above the voting age should be eligable.
If that's too radical, option B is select randomly from anyone who volunteers to be put forward.
This method would require more cooperation between politicians and it would ensure that it's not just rich connected people who end up ruling.
