  1. there really is no need to ever do anything different to what M&B has done with combat....all the die rolls removed too... pure working beauty.
  2. I'm still low level and I am amazed at how much a single mother would pay me after I beat up a bard.
  3. I'm still very new to the game and was wondering when the bodies I stripped would get eaten  I guess they lay there forever trying to catch a tan?
  4. I really hope someone still wants to make this mod and I doubt arguing with people will help me....but this one is hard to let go Strength-wise--under the right circumstances, training and upbringing, a woman can NOT be all that a man can be under those same circumstances. This isn't sexist, it's biology. Even taking steroids and GH, the strongest woman raised from birth to compete (understand this has happened in China and the USSR-if not wide-spread) cannot match the strength of the strongest natural male. It's not even close! Yes there are women out there who are stronger than men out there and average men who don't train are closer to average women who don't train but you line up all the people who eat and train average in the world and the men are stronger. This isn't a social or political argument. Testosterone isn't lacking in women because their parents raised them as girls T
  5. To add onto the discussion of historical accuracy... Mount & Blade and M&B Warband has a great mod called "Brytenwalda" which is a great attempt at the near post Roman rule era in Britain. That game is heavily about mounted combat and that mod removed the lance....but not the spear! Spears came right after the invention of throwing a rock and hitting someone with a stick. So yeah, if lances are against the flavor of a semi-Ancient Rome world in Skyrim, spears could still be used-mounted or otherwise Speaking of M&B, I'd love to not only see the mounted combat from it but ALL combat from it make into a production like Skyrim! The best combat ever invented for a game.
  6. Appealing to everyone in a game works because there is nowhere else to get the thrill of the game, but it makes a lousy book that no one would read. TES IS modeled after the real world with kings, grain mills, farms, armor, ect. but real world or not, it's a crap story to sell how all that is even possible with such political correctness and gender sharing. A bit of a straw man to imply I want all the women slutted up; In fact, outside the brothel, I'd like it better if they were uglier! This girl power nonsense of skinny hot chicks challenging men to bar fights is silly stuff. BUT, as I've already stated, player characters being the rare exception or the "Red Sonja" is awesome. Also women nobility would work (historically some very horrible and ruthless people); tribal or serf women forced or compelled to take arms in battle; The rare bandit/pirate leader or adventurer. But even with all that existing (as it did in our world), even with the occasional woman saying, "anything you can do, I can do better", the world being an equal opportunity starting point free of even the thought of sexism is absurd. What similar game was it that you could go into a brothel and ask for a man or a woman? It's a cop-out to say these kinds of things are real for the world that was designed. It's a stuck risk assessment thinking it will get more business than it will lose and no one challenges it. OK so not many people bother reading books, is there a movie this absurd out there? Anyways... if you are a mod, I mean no offense and get in that kitchen and cook me a mod!
  7. I do not endorse the above joke! I don't want a moral world to roleplay in and it's a silly place to counter sexism. Would you purchase a fantasy book as PC as these games are to do your part in countering social norms? The only reason the game works is because there is no alternative for the kind of fun to be had with a computer. As the man (or woman!) above said though, some of it isn't even about sexism, it's common sense; I am a very large man and have worked doors as a bouncer...there are some smaller guys I spar with who could beat me in an equal fight but you would still take the bigger man to bounce the door (another nod to the man/woman/ above named, "Cooltrickle" ) . And if as a world society we stopped being sexist, would you want women bouncing the door? There's plenty women out there who can fight but skill being equal they can't overcome size and strength. But yeah, MY imaginary mod! Can you make it for me?
  8. read the thread past the first post (and no, a Nord woman could not do that to me )
  9. Not sure you read past the initial post. Bringing up exceptional examples (as too did I) doesn't make this designer requirement any more believable. Hell, if it was designed after Countess Jeanne de Penthièvre and Joan it would be good writing but wouldn't forget that common women wouldn't be walking around with rank as captains with men careful of saying "he or she" when discussing hypotheticals. I'm a huge fan of dissident women but outside certain tribal exceptions the "heroines" were largely gilded and not obtainable to regular women OR men. This is just common sense and I would like an ancient world that didn't appeal to modern PC norms. Bring on the Celtic warrior women and make them ugly as sin! Bring on the horrible elitist French General women sending their miserable men into death! Most definitely bring on the outraged African slave woman turned pirate leader!............ but the 50/50 equal society stuff is unnecessary (I think) to roping paying women into buying the game.
  10. I actually have manually installed SKSE but it still gives me that message too. It gave it to me before I installed SKSE as well, and as you said, it worked without it (i couldn't tell though because I have never seen vanilla). Would love an answer to get rid of the message box too before I get too far into the game.
  11. Great response as are all the funny ones! I intentionally left out women mods because like the sentence suggests, I was implying that not many women are actually offended by what I'm saying (I think some are but I was having a go at the men who think women should be). I had a long running conversation in the AOC forums before the release of Age of Conan about how I was hoping they stayed true to their promise of sticking to the books. NOPE! everyone was a strong as everyone and though a nice merciless beheading was always available, it felt stupid because of the nonsense that somehow violence upon strangers couldn't be overcome but sexism could. I appreciate your comment about the Viking women while understanding what I'm saying. Celts had warrior women and plenty examples have existed in isolated societies of women having day to day leadership roles. on the AOC threads, I would get people pointing to Conan talking about how tough Sumerian women were. Like you pointed out though, however tough these ladies had to be for tribal survival, the idea that the roles were the same is silly. I had a couple of dames (lol) backing me up that they didn't mind as long as they could be a female character. Cool too! playing a rare and capable female adventurer in a brutal world would be fun roleplaying love your mod idea on Nording out everyone. Lizard men as monsters don't bother me but cat headed races with detailed cultures and such is worse than watching elves get married on-line. And what's with the Orc being a thoughtful guy who wouldn't get killed on sight? All these games kill me this way! Why is there even war and fighting in such understanding worlds? Is Gothic 2 the only game that got it right? (yes, my right is right! even though I'm further to the left than Ralph Nader lol)
  12. Hello Haters! It sucks to do the obligatory but in case if there is an interested mod out there who otherwise wouldn't touch this....I am a confident male who appreciates a strong woman and believes in civilized equality ( my wife is a competing athlete who can kick the s*** out of most men). Having said that, it's embarrassing playing these games set in brutal times modeled after ancient historical societies (Even if they were modeled after most post modern civilizations, it would be stupid). Like every other game aside from Gothic, the game opens up with dialogue trying to sound hard but playing to a PC him/her and it's worse from there; Really? A Romanesque brutal empire having men address a woman as captain? and trying to sound normal while referring to her authority to chop your head? I know there are arguments for "it's a fantasy" but good fantasy pulling from history requires believable premises; it makes less sense than a race of people with cat faces (another request I'll ask for later) So,,,, all apologies to any modder who thinks their woman has a problem with what I said, but I'd like this game much better if no guards were women Please someone, make this game being a brutal fantasy, easier to swallow
