  1. Ok well I'm not a newbie but I'm technically far inferior to most of you guys. I love all the elder scrolls and fallout games. I had a lot of fun modding skyrim through steam as it was so easy to do. I modded fallout 3 and nv via the nexus which was also straightforward using NMM. I assumed that I would mod fallout 4 (still playing vanilla currently) via the nexus but this whole recent thing about the release of the creation kit and mods available on Bethesda.net has confused me somewhat. Does this work with the nexus? Does it make modding using nexus more complex? Or does it make things better? I don't really get what a creation kit is. Basically I want lots of mods to try and for it to be easy to do! Any thoughts welcome, cheers.
  2. So I have freed Serana, and during dialogue with her, the quest "Awakening" finishes. Serana agrees to come with me but doesn't follow me. She buggers off in the opposite direction, when I catch her up and say "come with me" she agrees and says "lets go" or whatever - but she still wanders off - so I have to leave Dimhollow crypt on my own. I expect she might turn up as I exit the cave, or when I fast travel somewhere, but she doesn't. The bloodline quest hasn't even been triggered. So I don't know where she is, and using the console to move to her - doesn't work. Even using the console to start the bloodline quest doesn't work. I have no idea how to progress here - any advice?
  3. so I notice from the wiki that most creatures/NPCs vary depending on player level - mostly up to level 24 or 32. For dragon priests they appear about level 50. im level 24 - was wondering - does the game get ridiculously easy then, when players get to level 60 and beyond?
  4. sorry - which ones are part 2 and 3 - are they the ones I think they are? and is part 1 "secrets from the past - prologue"?
  5. Could someone help me with understanding this? I have installed all parts of this mod and it looks great. Im just confused as all 3 seem to have started and Im not sure which one is first! I received the note asking me to go to tracking command and the quest appears as "secrets from the past - prologue" - presumably that is the beginning? However I also received other notes, leading to quest "The dust of oblivion", the objective being "find the mysterious H" and another one "The outer limts", objective being "find the mysterious sender". Both the latter were located in a shop near L'enfant south - there I had a robot direct me to Roosevelt Academy, and a guy directing me somewhere else - are these parts 2 and 3 of "A quest for heaven"? I don't want to do the quest out of order. The guy mentioned something about heaven and it didn't make sense as I haven't started any of them. Is this right - all parts starting at once? If someone could help me unravel what is going on I would be very grateful. I have 3 open quests now - "secrets from the past - prologue", "the dust of oblivion" and "the outer limits" - are thse all part of "A quest for heaven"? I have a few other quest mods and Im wondering if one of these three relate to a completely different quest!! Thanks in advance.
  6. And a lot of replies on other fora are suggesting getting nexus mod manager - how would I get rid of all my mods I already have from steam and replacing them? Is there an easy way to do this? Are the mods the same on nexus as they are on steam? Sorry if Im really thick!!
  7. thats all really helpful. presumably as most of my mods are for separate places/quests - rather than appearance or gameplay - they hopefully shouldnt conflict?
  8. I have a NVidia GeForce GT 540M graphics card. Have subscribed and downloaded 40 mods from steam - mainly new dungeons/quests. I also purchased dawnguard. How will I know that one mod wont affect another or affect the game in general? I mean if the game starts crashing I wonder how I would know where the problem is - can anyone advise me?
  9. Im losing the plot, trying to find the best mods for skyrim for my next playthrough - most interested in extra places and quests rather than modifying gameplay. Any suggestions how to find the best ones? There are so many on steam. Or what do you guys think are the best mods - that are comparable to DLC? Also, Ive subscribed to about 10 quest mods using steam - is there a limit - in terms of making things slower/buggy with lots of different mods?
  10. Hey, sorry Im new to modding, anyway I downloaded the mod manager from this site. Then I tried to "download with manager" for the gnome mod for fallout new vegas. It didnt work - the advice that popped up was to move the mod manager out of program files, so I did, putting it into the games folder, as suggested. Now when I click on "download with manager" for the same mod, nothing happens. Any suggestions? I would like to use the mod manager if I can as it seems so hassle free.
  11. Do you play these during the main quest - or are they designed to be played after the main quest finishes? I suppose the latter - as they were released later, but I had the whole game plus the DLCs from the start. Wondered what other people do.
  12. In fact Im not sure when the game ends - today I was playing Ringo, and fairly soon I had 2 caravans of 24 and 26 - he had one of 26 so I thought maybe I have to have 2 caravans that are better. But then he lost his 26-caravan (as I put a king on it, rendering it useless) - so there I was with 2 winning caravans - yet the game continued! After a few more rounds, I think I won because Ringo ran out of cards! I would be grateful if someon could clarify how one gets to the winning post once you have 2 caravans between 21 and 26.
  13. The moment I achieve 2 caravans between 21 and 26 - I win. NPCs, on the other hand, often achieve this - but continue playing - is it because they are trying to sell a 3rd caravan? My last game, I was only playing with 2 caravans, one had been removed after a jack was put on it. One was too high as the NPC had put a king on it - the other was nowhere near 21 - yet my adversary had 2 caravans on 25 but carried on playing! Its hard to see what he did with his final hand because as soon as it happened the "you lost!" screen took over. Is this en error? Or is there more to the game than I realise?
