you can do that already with this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/606 though the pictures show only female it works for male as well. has a few colour options too.

So I'm trying to make a mod that replaces those awful scale mail patterns on the heavy armour styles with chainmail. A mod already exists for this for men, but it's like 2 years old and was never updated for women. Trouble is I cannot for the life of me find the diffuse/normal/spec maps for the Inquisitor's armours (the basic mail/armour/coat styles) in the mod maker. Where... like, where are they? I can find the PJs and the formalwear maps, but not the armour. I swear I've looked everywhere...
