  1. Thanks for the input! In theory, I thought the same (and getting banished from the Institute is part of the plan) ... but good to hear some assurance. I'll try forging ahead as is and keep my earlier save just in case I need to go back.
  2. Hey all, I'm currently in a playthrough going for the Minutemen ending that leaves both the Railroad and BoS intact and at peace. I'm generally following the framework laid out in this guide. However, I recently deviated a bit by progressing further down the the RR quest line earlier than I'd planned. I'm up to the point in the main quest where I've received The Glowing Sea - I've done MM quests through Old Guns, BoS Quests through Show No Mercy, and have done RR quests Tradecraft, Boston After Dark, Mercer SafeHouse, Jackpot, Butcher's Bill 1, and a handful of the MiLA placing quests. I've received but not started Randolph SafeHouse and Butcher's Bill 2. The guide I linked to is a bit ambiguous when it comes to when you can do certain RR quests while some other guides say flat out not to start them until later without really presenting any reasoning so I'm a bit worried... does anyone know if having gone further down the RR questline become problematic in trying to achieve the desired ending if I continue down the Main questline at this point? I can revert to a save where I'd only done Tradecraft and received but not started Boston After Dark before moving forward to play it safe (and I'd only lose an evening or two of playtime) but I'd rather not if it's not necessary as I have done some other random things in that time and getting some of the RR quests (particularly Boston After Dark) to complete properly without running into bugs/issues that mess things up can be frustrating. Then again, I don't want to find myself at a later time having issues with the main quest/factions because I went too far down the RR rabbit hole prematurely... I've just never seen the reasoning why guides for this ending generally say to do most of the RR quests later. Any advice?
  3. Yeah, I watched the noclip documentary myself (and the E3 Coliseum interview) and came away feeling like Bethesda has basically become Vault-Tec and the player base have become the hapless vault dwellers they're experimenting/testing stuff on. Todd seems to be really looking forward to seeing what people do to/with each other and basically said let's just set up all this stuff and see what happens with the player interactions. Monetization is clearly the primary goal but there's definitely a twisted experimentation aspect to it as well... Vault-Tec all over it, hehe. Anyway, I had no intention of playing the game as I pretty much swore off multiplayer gaming a long time ago (and I'm not a fan of the tedious aspects of crafting/survival games either) but it was still an interesting documentary to watch.
  4. Dunno.. mad max was rly monotonous (imo) :/ It is a fairly repetitive game but I really enjoyed it nonetheless (and I did absolutely everything there was to do in the game). YMMV ;) Anyway, FO4 on PC and a bit of Ascension on mobile if that counts. I've had Just Cause 3 queued up to play for ages but haven't been able to pry myself from Fallout... now I see they've already announced JC4, jeez. Tons of other games I'd love to play if I had current-gen console or better PC... I lack the time and money anyway.
  5. Clearly he's never spent any time IN West Virginia. My sentiments exactly. It looks like they took all the things the community were most critical of for FO4 and doubled down on them while removing most of the parts that were actually decent (I realize that last vague quantification is purely subjective). On the one hand, I really don't care for the direction the company (and series) has been trending in. Like many other companies and their franchises, it seems like they're trying to make their games be/do too many things to cater to more people rather than going with improvements and advancements on the things the players loved about their previous titles and refining them on new experiences. On the other hand, as much as it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I see beloved game franchises doing this sort of thing it becomes a relief as I'd have neither the time nor the money to play all the sequels I'd want to play if they were all actually anything like what I wanted them to be. My positive takeaway (aside from saving time/money) - I can keep playing FO4 with some level of certainty now that the modding community will remain active for some time to come.
  6. I grew up in the era of mixtapes and mix-cds being a regular part of life (and to me an integral one). I made quite a few for myself and (mostly) others and received a good amount myself. Each and every one had/has a story behind it. Clearly music has survived in the Fallout world to some extent as it's played on radio stations and performed in clubs/bars. I find it hard to believe with the ability to record audio on holotapes (and using them to record themselves rambling on about all sorts of stuff), nobody would have thought to record music on them for either themselves or perhaps to give to a special someone. What I think would be terrific would be a mod that added an NPC into the game that was interested in collecting what music he can find for restoration and preservation (sort of in the way that that certain Brotherhood scribes collected pre-war books in previous games). This NPC could assign you a misc quest to seek out such music sources. Littered around the Commonwealth one would then be able to find a variety of collectable mix-holotapes which could then either be brought to the NPC for rewards or kept for one's own personal collection. Most mix-holotapes would ideally have a bit of backstory to them as to who made them and why, etc. Some might actually be meant for NPCs that still exist and delivering it to them instead of the collector NPC might be another path to take for those (with possibly a different reward or just funny reaction). Actual audio on the holotapes, while it would be great if someone wanted to really go the extra mile on this, isn't really necessary... it's more the idea of it. Possible lore for no audio could be that the tapes need to be restored or you just simply have to imagine there's music on them. ;) Anyway, that's the rough idea. ps. I'm aware of the Mix Tapes - Custom Music Holotapes but if you've read this far you should know this clearly has nothing to do with what that mod does.
