Is there a mod that highlights hostile mobs at a distance or changes the detect life shout in some way so that you can tell if a mob is hostile at a distance? I play a ranged sniper and often sneak and can kill most NPCs long before I get a look at what their name is. This leads to little "oops" moments when I put an arrow through the neck of an NPC that I should have talked to. Anyone know of a mod that would help with this?

I would suggest you read through some of the sticky topics on the NWN official forums. Lots of info there: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/category/199/index

New player looking for advice on patches/mods
MokahTGS replied to Patchup94's topic in Neverwinter Nights's NWN Discussion
Unfortunately there aren't a lot of files here on the Nexus as it is really new. the vast majority of modules and mods for both NWN and NWN2 are available on the Vault. As mods go, NWN is huge...there are so many modules released that are fairly high quality that is would be a very long list. That is also open to opinion, so I would suggest that you actually go browse through the Vault modules list to see what kind of modules you'd like. As far as patching, both games are finished with their patching cycles to you won't see any more. NWN is final with 1.69 and NWN2 is final with 1.23 so if those are the version you have installed you are all set. If you are ever interested in humor based modules, I just uploaded my Vertex I module to the Nexus. You can find the link in my sig. For NWN, I would look up Adam Miller's modules as well as many of the Hall of Fame modules to get started. -
Well now it is working...no idea why.
-
I cut and pasted your method and it still does not work. I'm not sure what is wrong.

There are certain codes that are not working. , , , and are 4 that I tried to use but do not work on the Nexus file site. To be clear, they DO work on the forums...just not in file descriptions.
-
So I have tried getting BBCode to work in my nexus uploads and most of it does not work. Everything works just fine on the forums. Anyone know what is wrong?

Have you used the item creator plug-ins? Do they have the same issue? I believe it's the Sin plugin that does the items.

The big deal about this is that I would be buying for several machines, so it makes a huge difference as to what version I buy since this version of Win7 has a 3-licence pack for cheaper than one, stand-alone copy.

THANK YOU!! That little nugget of info just saved me $200 bucks! MS is pretty sneaky...there is nothing to explain that difference in XP modes, and I'm sure a lot of people get duped. Just to clarify, do you mean Win7 Home Premium? there is no Win7 Home Professional
-
I actually have a question about this. Does everyone have Win7 Pro or does the regular version of Win7 work with NWN2? I have all these older games that I keep playing with WinXP but I really don't want to spend $200 for an upgrade if I don't have to.

Working on a new "beautiful people" head pack
MokahTGS replied to Tchos's topic in Neverwinter Nights's NWN2 Discussion
I personally have several overrides in my NWN2 folder for specific things. I have one called build_override, play_override, soz_override, blank_override, and even a couple for testing things out. I just rename them when I'm ready to play based on what I'm doing. Keeps things easy. -
Working on a new "beautiful people" head pack
MokahTGS replied to Tchos's topic in Neverwinter Nights's NWN2 Discussion
Yes, swapping is a big NWN2 No No, as many builders use heads for different NPCs and need them. Also, why deny players content? Always add if you can, never take away. -
There are numerous ways to "cheat" in NWN2. I actually do it all the time to test modules. First and foremost, you can use the console commands to do all sorts of stuff. You can also create any kind of item you want in the toolset, and save it directly to your override folder, allowing you to spawn it in via the console commands. You can also use a premade leveling module to make your character however you like and then save it off to your local vault for later use. People generally don't upload "god items" to the community, since it is so easy just to make your own. My suggestion is to just make yourself some items in the toolset and save them to your override folder. That way you have complete control over how powerful you want to get. To be frank, however, the official campaigns are so easy that after a little crafting you don't need to use any of the above methods.

I have been asking for this for years. The NWMM would actually be good solution here. I have a lot of prefabs on the Vault that use many different haks and it's annoying to have to click all over the place just to try something out. -
Yeah, it will take some time, but contacting authors you support would certainly speed things up. Sending them cookies would also help.

What makes an "adult" module ?
MokahTGS replied to Tsongo's topic in Neverwinter Nights's NWN2 Discussion
I think you should release a module with all swearing. I'd support that. http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/thumbsup.gif -
Modules Vs Campaigns
MokahTGS replied to Garagorn888's topic in Neverwinter Nights's NWN2 Discussion
Actually, this is not always the case. The Campaign folder is used by the game for certain functionality, such as the world map, party play, the overland map. Even if you create a simple one module adventure, if you want that functionality, you need to create a campaign. Campaign does not equal a series in NWN2, although it can in cases such as the original SP campaigns where the game was split into chapters. Categorizing modules that use a campaign setup would be misleading for what you are proposing. -
If you were to pick up the game today,
MokahTGS replied to Zarien's topic in Neverwinter Nights's NWN2 Discussion
Actually, Skyrim can safely compete with NWN's wide range of stories and gaming options following the release of the Creation Kit. However, the NWN series is still one of the greatest series' ever developed and due to it's unique gameplay, it can easily be purchased either alongside or competitively with Skyrim. The NWN series also offers more moral options than any other game I've yet seen, safely competing with even the Fable series*. * = Although tbh, that's not that hard due to Fable's being more linear than claimed, but that's an argument for another time... I disagree. Potentially Skyrim could compete, but the modding communities work completely differently. For modding, you will see a majority of new, stand-alone stories in NWN 1/2 where the majority of modding effort for TES game is modding the main game. I'm not sure why that is exactly, but if you are looking at hours of gameplay, I have many more invested in NWN 1/2 than in all of the Beth games combined. Texture packs, while technically mods, are not what I'm talking about when it comes to game play. Morrowwind and Oblivion both had their share of new adventures, but NWN 1/2 still has more. -
NWN Nexus might actually inspire me some more.
MokahTGS replied to Mazena's topic in Neverwinter Nights's NWN2 Discussion
This was part of the hope in getting this started. NWN2 is an excellent game that has gotten too little attention. Please do continue your work, the screen shots on your blog are quite good. -

MokahTGS replied to Zarien's topic in Neverwinter Nights's NWN2 Discussion
Speaking as a player/builder I can say without any doubt that the NWN series (both 1&2) will give you the greatest bang for your gaming buck, hands down. The sheer scale of the amount of content available is just huge. Even TES game fail to offer as many new stories, and gaming options as this game. And there is more being made all the time. If you buy NWN for $10 that is money very well spent. -
Is there a guide to adding formatting code to file entries? I'd like to spruce up my entries but I don't know how.
