@BeHughes
To be honest, there aren't that many criteria to being sponsored. The only thing I have to know is if the project is going to be finished even without the intervention of people on this thread. This is to allow people to HELP without a modder having to do all of the work. If you can assure me that your project is making good ground, I can sponsor it.
That kind of sharing resources is exactly what I was talking about btw.

I apologize for seeming to denigrate consoles. They are appropriate for some people just as PCs are for others. The users of each are looking for a different experience. :thumbsup:
I don't care for consoles for the very reasons other people do like them. They are locked in to what the maker allows - which can be good for some types of games.
I do prefer PCs for the very reasons others don't care for them - they are open ended and you can do anything you want to with them. But doing what you want can be more work than some players want to deal with when all they want to do is play a game.
As the Nexus is a PC mods site, I expect most of the members here will prefer the PC. Just as on an xbox site they will prefer the xbox over the PC. So asking whether he should get a Xbox or a PC here would be like asking whether he should get a Ford or Chevrolet on a Ford enthusiast site. :biggrin:
Yeah, I imagine people on the modders sight would the Consoles...I should have thought about that before I opened my mouth lol :unsure:
Just to clarify, I'd obviously missed off a word or two when I said 'Consoles are more enjoyable'. I edited the post, but I'd like to point out that I don't think that, just that they offer different things which I enjoy in different scenarios. I'd play Skyrim on PC, but I'd never play MW3 on PC if you get what I mean...

@ThoseTolerableNoobs
The subscription fee for me is a BIG con. Again you are paying a subscription for the dubious privilege of paying for a DL a month before non xbox players get it.
Also, you are comparing a PC single player game to an xbox multi player game - so, yes, for multiplayer games it is only fair if everyone has the same hardware, same software and same everything.
Here is a link that tells what happened when MS tested Console against PC in head to head: NOT on line, but in LAN play. And with the same game with NO mods. http://www.rahulsood...against-pc.html
It's kind of old but I haven't seen any updates yet
Well you were kind of doing the same thing when you listed Xbox Live as a con.
Going slightly off topic, consoles are more accessible, and more enjoyable for some. You can mock them for being casual gamers, but most people don't want to sit down, wait for the game to install, and then fix the innevitable CTD bugs in PCs that aren't present in the Consoles. Also, that article pertained to skill, he said they were mediocre players, but then they were mediocre for PC. All it did was back up my point. The PC gamers were on superior systems, and the console gamers were, well, on console. It was unfair on the console gamers because hardware wasn't uniform...
I respect where you're coming from, but there's too much hate from the PC market for the Console market, and vice versa. From a hybrid, like me's point of view, neither are inferior, and neither should be ridiculed, they're all good a different things. That kind of hate seems to happen a lot in video games, just look at the response to The Elder Scrolls Online...
The reason I jumped in to defend xbox live is that I find non-subscribers think that the subscription fee is unjustified and that it isn't worth it, whereas most people I know who have it love the system, especially those who've used PSN or even Steam...

It is really a matter of preference
PC Pros
Fully customizable
Better graphics
Higher FPS
Can play with KB/Mouse OR game controller - your choice
Can change hardware/software whenever I want
Can do other things besides just play games ( I run my business with the same PC)
No hassle from MS or Sony if I want to change a hard drive, ram, whatever.
Multiple screens (STILL not supported by most games :dry:)
MODS :dance:
PC Cons
Price (however, instead of buying a new one every few years, I upgrade the same old PC.
You actually have to do something to play a game instead of just sticking in a cd. :laugh:
Console Pros
cheaper (or is it when you throw in the cost of a monitor?)
plug & play games
game exclusives (Buy a box just to play a certain game?) http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f351/charonn0/ohgeez-1.gifNot really a pro for me.
Kinect (Xbox only - can be adapted to work on PC)
Console cons
MS or Sony control all hardware & software - you have no choice.
game exclusives - for the other console. :tongue:
No KB/Mouse support (Why not?)
So so graphics
so so FPS
Can only play games ( That is what it is intended to do so that may not be a con)
Cannot legally change hardware - so it's not really owned by you
XBox live :pinch:
Sony & MS Lawyers deciding what you can or can't do with THIER (not your) game box.
If it breaks, you generally have to buy a new one - or pay MS/Sony to replace a US$40 Hard drive for US$150. (if you do replace it yourself, they accuse you of somehow breaking the DRM) :whistling:
No mods. :sick:
For me, it's a no brainer. :cool:
No offense Bben, you usually make some really good comments on here :) but have you ever actually played a console for any length of time? You've put Xbox Live as a con, but you haven't quantified it. I think Xbox Live is leagues better than anything offered by any other platform, and is well worth the sub fee (only 1 extra game a year). It's well laid out, constantly updated, and allows you to easily play games, talk with friends privately OR publicly at the push of a button, and best of all, everyone has the same hardware so that the game is a little fairer than on PC (aside from lag, no one can fix lag). Plus, most people don"t want to customise their PC and change the hardware, as they find it complicated, boring and expensive. While Consoles have crap graphics, that's, in my eyes, the only clincher. That and mods, which is what this site is about.
Everyone loves mods.
I still stick by what I said earlier, OP, buy it for your PS3, as your hardware isn't strong enough for you to see much difference, and many mods require high preformance. Or better still, buy a cheap 2nd hand Xbox to replace your PS3, Xbox Live is better than PSN, and there are fewer issues on Xbox. And there's going to be Xbox Exclusive Skyrim content soon, which makes me glad I hung on to by Xbox copy when I bought the PC version.

@Above
That's all very well and good, but Skyrim breaking away means there even weaker than the whole Empire was fighting the Dominion. If the whole empire couldn't win, then Skyrim surely couldn't. Also, when you go the Thalmor embassy you find out that Ulfric is doing exactly what the Thalmor want him to do. They want a weaker empire, and a weaker Skyrim, so they can overthrow them both. Skyrim wouldn't found a new Empire once broken away, otherwise when the Thalmor get bored they'll be fighting a 2-front war. The Stormcloaks bang on about how 'we'll be stronger alone' but it's bulls***. They'll just have on extra God and elves tea-bagging their sorry corpses

I have an ignorant question regarding PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Skyrim (i have not owned a console since the vintage Sega lol).
Assuming a Steamworks account is required to validate Skyrim on a console (???) and you are legally agreeing to only lease usage of the game from them.
Are you allowed to revise/change your lease from a console version to a PC version for free or a minimal fee?
I know this question may sound crazy; but, i was just wondering since this is in reality only a single user lease agreement; therefore,
you do not own any rights to your copy of Skyrim regardless of what platform you are using.
Why would they care if you're running your single user leased rights on a console or PC? Or is it all about the bucks?
Does anyone think you should have the contractual option to transfer your single user Skyrim lease account from one platform to another?
Anyway, just throwing the question out there..
I think you know where i am going with this,
Sergiovi could lease the PC version, if he's not happy with it he can transfer the lease to the console or vice versa.
Steam works activation is not required on Xbox or PS3. There is no activation, you just pop the disc in and play :)

So just found this thread , adding my50 cents .
I've beed working on the moonpath by myself ever since the ck came out. And I must agree making a quest mod is really an unrealistic task for one person. It's turned into a obsessive hobby for me, it being. Hugely rewarding and addictive. Only recently I've gotten help from great people such as chisiokage, especially for the voice acting and writing. And it's improved the quality tremendously .
However I'm a bit of a loner in this , I like to tell my story with as little collaboration as possible. I think because it might just be a great personal creative exhaust. I believe thirteen oranges is also doing it alone, so it might be a common cause why there's so few meaty quest mods.
This said the lack of real popularity also plays a part. Im loathed to admit it but what keeps a fanatical modded going is the feedback and compliments from the audience. I never expected that , but honestly for every Joyfully comment I can get enough motivation to fix another dozen bugs etc etc. so yeah like mentioned it may take time. But I'm not certain. The nexus although wholly superior to steam does seem to cater to an audience less interested in stories. Although I fear the root it's that players have sense that user quest mod are inferior or poor quality, and would dilute their vanilla play experienced. And sometimes this might be the case. Perhaps this is a symptom of more hardcore gamers.
On steam both the moonpath and hirteen oranges quests are much higher ranked as on the nexus, gosh moonpath only entered top 100 non adult last week. On steam it's n 26 off all time. So perhaps more casual gamers hae less preconceptions on what's cool and good enough.
So that's my little rant on quest odd in general on to collaborating.
Like I said I'm a bit of a Line modder and I have found it difficult to successfully get the people who do pitch in to happily work together, So ii find it difficult , I have to manage in my day job, and certainly don't want to manage a team in my hobby. So that's what's stopping me from join other teams, that and the moonpath keeps me busy enough :)
But practically I do create a fair bit off stuff, and I've been sharing it so that it helps other modders tell their own stories,
I've got a bunch of creatures (shared with dogtown already, he helped me get them working) and besides the raptor, , hyenas and therium there will be more. So if there's a creature you might need for you projects just let me know, I might be working onit or able to use it for he moonpath as well if it doesn't exist. For instance been toying with the idea of making an imga.
I off course also have my tropical and desert sets of models and textures your free to use:) ( a few mods are already using them)
So if you see something in the moonpath which usefull, or would like something I might have made or will make, feel free to p.m. Me
Also chisiokage is one proffesioal voice actor, highly recommend him ;)
Thanks!
I did approach Chisiokage to voice a character in a questline mod, true Lichdom, for which I am the writer. Unfortunately he wasn't enthusiastic about free voice work :(, and I don't blame him. I would also like to say that I downloaded Moonpath on Steam, and I thought that it was excellent, although my frame rate took a massive fall lol.
Thanks for the offer of textures :)

I'm on the Imperial Side. It makes more sense in the lore. The Thalmor are the really enemy, and they're strong. The Stormcloaks aren't looking at the big picture. They can sacrifice public Talos worship, and keep the Empire in 3 provinces, biding the time until Hammerfell rejoins the Empire (hopefully on a truce), and the Empire can match the Dominion. If Skyrim succeeds from the Empire, then they're isolated, and venerable to the Dominion, as is Cyrodiil and High Rock. Besides, during the campaign, it's revealed that Ulfric is just the Thalmor's uncooperative sleeper agent, and he's doing exactly what they want.

Also, what do you mean console for graphics, PC for mods. Didn't anyone ever tell you EVERY game looks 100x better on PC than on antique console hardware...
-
The Elder Scrolls has always been a PC series; nobody should ever consider picking it up on console. Heck, they should not release it on console!
I bought it on console first, and then swapped to PC. If they hadn't released it on console, I'd have never been introduced to TES. And it hasn't always been a PC Series, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim were on Xbox and PlayStation. There's a loyal fan base on those platforms who would be looking to give you a black eye right about now...
On topic, and @ OP, I would recommend picking it up on PC normally, but given your specs, a safer bet is to get it on console. You may be without mods, but at least it keeps you honest. When I played on console, I got to level 40 legitimately, without power levelling, but on PC, the number of times I've said 'eff it, I'm spawning this thing' is unbelievable!

Thank you all for your advice!

Hello,
I bought Morrowind on steam today, looking to take advantage of the 50% off offer. However, I am confused as to what to do, what race to play, skills to pick etc.
I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how to play the game. I know the plot roughly, as I did some research to understand Skyrim (not that it was really relevant) so if it is necisariy, anyone kind enough to help me can reference the plot. I will write out my questions in a numbered format below, but I don't mind any deviations from them (after all, beggars can't be choosers!).
1) What Race should I pick?
2) What major/minor skills should I pick
3) What starting equipment should I buy
4) Where should I go out of Seyda-Neen
Note: I have the Morrowind Overhaul 2.0 mod
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance,

Will there be other liches in the main questline?
And also do you think this mod will beat the skyrim dlc dawnguard (official cover released) to its release date this summer? The reason I'm asking Is I want to have my character perfected by the time dlc is released, and if the mod will not be released before dlc I will just have to change a few things about my character. Thanks!
There will be other Liches in the main questline, in fact, they are integral to the plot. It focuses around these other Liches and your role within their group.

Hmmm, what to do as a Lich? Most Lich's send out minions to do their work for them - such is their power - like collecting bodies and remains for more minions, spreading death and disease so they have more bodies and remains to raise more minions, eventually turning every living being for a 500 mile radius into an unliving army, and for that you need the mist. It wouldn't be right otherwise. Another thing to do as a Lich is spreading fear and rumor of your power by using the local telephone system - people who love to tell tales. Eventually you are so feared and loathed that adventurers bring snacky items to you and play at being the hero until you kill them and raise them as ... a skeletal hero. They then go off and play stabby with other heroes. It is so much fun.
Anyway, I'm off to bed to dream about being a Lich. Night all.
I don't know if that was a suggestion, but I suppose I should point out that your life as a Lich won't be that...menacing. You will strike fear into people when they see you coming, and you will have several methods of wreaking havock, but the main questline focuses around you learning about and transforming into a Lich and then uncovering an...irregularity in the Lich Guild. We will implement several side quests where you can exercise your need to be cruel and malevolent, but the core quest will not have this feel.
-
Imagine, if you will, a skeleton with glowing eye sockets, and a palpable aura of dread and hate. That's how I see a Lich. I know the OP will do this justice, he has spent too much time and energy not to give it his best.
The model will likely be something along those lines. However, some of the Liches in our questline aren't inherently evil (although one certainly, certainly is!), although they're definitely arrogant and questionable. This was a writing choice as we wanted you to relate a little bit more to the central characters. Of course, if you're after the traditional-evil style, they'll be a couple of characters you'll find fit that as well! Consequently, most Liches will be skeletal, but not oozing evil as you say, not that it wouldn't look amazing!
(Of course, this is really all down Delfothebla and his modeller, this is just how I , the writer, would have it) :)

@Above
I think he was more saying that it could be copyright enfringment...I'd address that before assessing the size of the task.

@bben46
Well, like I said earlier, thanks for contributing, I've taken everything that's been said on board, constructive criticism is no different. :)

Well I'm going off of the Elder Scrolls wiki:
-
I'd imagine that the main problem with the Dragonborn becoming a Lich would be that nothing known can contain a Dragon Soul except the Amulet of Kings, which used to contain the souls of all the Emperors before Martin broke it. Maybe a quest where you have to find ancient elven texts that explain how the Ayleids originally created the Amulet of Kings, so you can make a phylactery with similar properties.
Anyway, for lore scraping:
http://www.imperial-library.info/content/mannimarco-king-worms (Suggests that the ritual to become a lich involves alchemy)
http://www.imperial-library.info/content/arkay-enemy (The plans of Mannimarco to destroy Arkay worship and unite all Vampires, Necromancers and Liches into one united organisation)
http://www.imperial-library.info/content/amongst-draugr (Explains how the Dragon Priests sustain themselves on Draugr lifeforce, probably Vampiric Liches as you call them)
http://www.imperial-library.info/content/necromancers-moon (Explains the divine influence of the God of Worms through the Necromancer's Moon and production of Black Soul Gems)
http://www.imperial-library.info/content/preparation-corpse (Explains legality of Necromancy and teaches creation of zombies, skeletons and mummies)
That's a cool idea...unfortunately, in the elder scrolls lore it wasn't the Aleyids who creates the Amulet of Kings, it was St Alessia who sought the help of Akatosh. So really, it was Akatosh who created it...
If you what to check, type in Amulet of Kings to the Elder Scrolls Wiki

@Above
We currently have several NPC Liches in the questline at the moment. Delfothebla has also come up with a fairly compellign reason as to why you don't seen NPC Liches out and about...but I guess you'll have to play the questline to find out (tehehehehe)
-
@op
Bumping is not allowed on these forums. Please read the very obvious post at the top of the page.
-
@Above
Well said, I think it about sums up my feelings on the matter. That reminds me, I think I was supposed to help you with that My Lovely Ghost questline...right?
-
Well, aside from the fact that neither the Stormcloaks or the Legion would fit into the archytypes of Jedi and Sithis (one isn't supposed to be good or evil), I don't think that yet exists. However, Magicka Sabers Addams lightsabers to the game, and there is also a mod to turn Masser (moon) into the Death Star!

Terry Pratchett's Discworld
in Mod Ideas
Posted · Edited by ThoseTolerableNoobs
Look at Bben's comment, I searched for Terry Pratchet playing Oblivion. I found an interview in which he states that he does not think that Discworld will make a very good Rpg, and wouldn't advocate it. I would still ask him, if you are able to get a hold of him (he gets quite a lot of fan-mail as you may imagine), but bear this in mind.
Just trying to help... :)
