  1. Thank you both very much @AndalayBay & @fraquar! I appreciate the mod recommendations and also the other useful hints (about dismissing companions to their home location). Sorry, for the belated answer, life got a bit busy.
  2. Great, thank you so much! I'll be sure to use that mod for companion dismissal back to their homes. I'll also check out FallUI, even if it's not the perfect decluttering mod, every little bit helps. Also thank you very much for your idea regarding the "next gen" version. My game also got updated when I started Steam and only later did I realize that maybe I should have done some reseach if I even wanted that upgrade. But I'm hoping stuff like F4SE will have been updated and if there have been fixes and additions like the ones you mentioned, that is well worth it. A shame about settler management though. That is really one of the main issues preventing me to engage with the settlement building system. But you have been very helpful, thank you very much for those recommendations! If anyone else has any hints or tipps, I'm of course still glad for any advice.
  3. Hi everyone, after a very long break from FO4, I'd like to set up a modded game once again. I've been using mods whenever a game was modable for 20 years, so I would like to do so once more. Unfortunately, I no longer have so much free time and I can no longer browse the files sections for days and weeks, tweaking and finetuning my modlist. I know "collections" are a thing now but I'm old fashioned and not ready to go for the all-inclusive-package. I would rather hand pick the mods I install, check for compatibility issues myself. But at the same time, the amount of available mods is overwhelming. So I was hoping, that folks here who are a lot more active in the modding scene, might be able to give me some recommendations for mods. When I first played the game unmodded just after release, I made a list with things I wanted to change, once the modding tools were available: 1) Realistic Needs: I guess I can just use Survival mode for that, correct? Or would you strongly recommend a mod instead? 2) Mods for Settlements: Better Settler asignment (see who is asigned to what, asign a settler to a specific bed, see what settler is running which suppy line): Back when I played, people gave settlers different outfits to be able to know their role, but I'm hoping there is a more elaborate way now, maybe also a way to name settlers (Farmer Bob, Supplier Jane, ...) if nothing else is possible more animals at settlements (dogs, brahmin) Catch wild Brahmin for your settlements Families or at least children in settlements (as recruitable settlers): I found this mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16000), is that recommended? Old people as settlers (not in abundance, that would be immersion breaking, but some people should survive to an old age) Minutemen settlers for The Castle 3) Inventory Management a keyring to reduce inventory cluttering (and other was to minimize inventory clutter) 4) the ability to send companions to their default (starting) location instead a settlement 5) More newspaper articles from Piper: I found this mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/21829) to restore cut content, but apart from that only face reworks 6) No more raiders spawning in Hangman's Alley or ghouls in Croup Manor (maybe those are fixed by the Unofficial FO4 patch?) 7) A mod that will allow me to bring down the institute with one faction (Railroad or Brotherhood), but have the Minutemen run the Commonwealth. Back when I looked for such a mod a few years back, there was none available, but maybe that has changed? Those were things that annoyed me, when I first played the game and I'd love to have them changed. I realize, that there are thousands of other mods to improve the FO4 expercience by now, but I'd settle for the bare minimum of removing those pet peeves of mine. If you want to recommend something however, feel free to do so. I appreciate all suggestions and recommendations. Thank you in advance!
  4. Hi folks, I'm currently putting together a new modded setup for FO4 and I was wondering, if there was a mod that would enable me to create the following scenario: During the quest "The Nuclear Option", I would like to destroy the Institute with the Railroad, but I don't want that faction to "take over" the Commonwealth after that. Instead I want the Minutemen to provide for the Commonwealth, establish outposts, get a presence in Diamond City etc. (In case anyone is wondering why: In my mind the Railroad is not able or interested in protecting the whole Commonwealth, as they are a small group, with a single purpose and rely on infiltration and their information network to get things done.) The Minutemen (or the BoS, if one is more military minded) are better suited to protect the people of the Commonwealth. But at the same time, I would like to take down the Institute on behalf of the Railroad, as it's the most fitting choice for my character.) So, does anyone know of a mod that would allow me to do that? I have been searching, but maybe I used the wrong phrases. Or would some tinkering with console commands after completing "The Nuclear Option" get me the desired results (without breaking the rest of the game into tiny pieces). Has anyone attempted something like that? Though I doubt that something of this magnitude could be achieved without hiccups via console commands, so I'm posting in the Mod Talk subforum. Any help, hints or pointers in the right direction would be most appreciated!
